So in 20 days time we start a fresh season against West Ham at home on a Monday night. For arguments sake, assuming there are no more signings, i'm interested to hear how everyone thinks we should line up for this game?

** I am not decided at all, Ivanovic looked good centrally, Terry too slow, Miazga no game time,  Djiloboji looks not good enough.  That's our weakest point and we need that Koulibaly guy or any good central defender to be signed.  This is top priority for Chelsea

I'm expecting a couple of signings and a couple of departures so it is really hard to say.

I think Tibo, Haz, Willian, Terry, Kantr and Azpi are starting anywhoo.

Aina is a right back usually, I don't fancy him on the left with only Fab and Hazard in front of him, it would be too much for him. However on the right he would have Willian and Kante in front of him.

 

I would also want to see as much of Traore and Batsman as possible, I think those two will have big impacts this season. If we sign Koulibay he would have to go straight in next to JT or Cahill, but Zouma could end up the season as our main man at the back with Koulibay.

This should be in the rumours thread but why don't we go in for Ricardo Rodriguez? I don't think Aina is up to it. My only gripe with Conte is he might put too much faith in youth. Sure there will be some who can cut it, but do we really want the likes of Aina, Chalobah, etc getting regular minutes?

13 days until the league kicks off again.

I am starting to get a little bit anxious / impatient / frustrated at our lack of strengthening, Kante aside (a great buy), we are much the same as last year. With only 2 pre season games left in our underwhelming tour, we haven't been able to really bed any potential new signings in yet.

There's talk of Baba going out on loan, yet we haven't bought any defenders.

We could do with another midfielder or two to mix it up when our guys aren't doing the business also.

With no European footy, we have a massive opportunity to make a run at the league with a couple of signings, seems like we are either very quietly working hard, or hardly working !!

Baba has officially been confirmed by Schalke as a loan signing. Apparently also has a clause to buy for 17m at the end if wanted. Do you not think Aina is a good enough replacement baring in mind we don't have champions league to focus on?

Kante and Michy are good buys especially Kante but if we don't sort that back 4 out then I don't say I expect much from the season ahead.

3 more players at the minimum is required to get us in some decent nick for the season ahead.

He's looked class in pre season, already looks a better option than Iva

It's the 1st of August and we are well into pre-season now, but i'm still worried about the state of our squad. Kante is a brilliant signing, exactly what we need and we will have to wait and see how Batshuayi turns out, but there are still many areas in that squad that need's addressing. I still think we are in desperate need of a CB, a LB/RB and a CM. These were the area's last season that let us down the most and i still don't think they have been sorted. Bringing in Kante has solved half of the problem at CM, but i think we need someone else too. Mikel and Matic can't be trusted to come in and do a job anymore. Mikel is very limited in what he can do and Matic look's like a mistake waiting to happen every time he step's onto the pitch these days.

Feeling a little worried aswell, i think this is the biggest change in footbsll philosophy the club has had since mourinho came in the 1st time around.

At least moirinho had a world class squad, and a full summer to get the players in he wanted, i think conte will struggle to get us playing his way until at least mid september, maybe even longer depending in how late we do our buisness.

If we are going to play 442 i think we need another striker regardless of whether diego is here or not, and we desperately need a centre back and left back asap, so we can get a settled back 5 in place.

I would happily see oscar, mikel, remy, and moses move on. Possibly matic aswell, although we might have to bring in another centre mid if all of those leave.

Hopefully when we get from the u.s. there will be a couple of deals going through, although i dont think anyone who isnt here now, will start the west ham game.

The feeling of the unknown (behind the seens transfers) does cause this anxiety for me.

 

like everyone else i'm just worried mostly about the back 4. If Zouma was fully fit i would be more confident but he won't be back until October 16.

I'm really, really not sure how he will line up looking at what we have and the fact that 3-5-2 is rumoured I dunno how it will work.

 

I'm going to guess he will stick to 4-2-3-1 not unless something drastic changes and he gets in all the players he wants because right now I don't think we the right type of players to do what he might want to do.
