Man Utd v Chelsea (PL) Sat 24th Oct 2020 17:30 GMT
Saying it's a MUST WIN game is just completely naive, we haven't won at Old Trafford since 2013, we have 2 wins there in 10 years. And if there's anything Ole is good at, is beating top sides, particularly when his side has less possession. I'm not confident on winning this game at all, that's why I would be very happy with a point.

I'm not sure about the back 3 but he definitely needed to go into this game with a different approach compared to Sevilla. I thought he would've went for Kovacic in a midfield 3, let's see how this plays out. It's going to be a very hard game regardless, we don't get much luck at Old Trafford.

3 at the back, interesting, I'm surprised Mount isn't playing, this is the one game I definitely would've expected him to play.

Olivier Giroud to Chelsea
So what if the goal was nothing special? He did what he had to do, he scored a very important goal. Most of Girouds goals aren't pretty, but he gets the job done. It's been just over a month since football started including two international breaks, people need to calm themselves. There will be time for Giroud to come in when we need him, that will be when Werner needs a rest or if he's injured. And with the fixture congestion coming up, there's going to be a lot of rotation.

Mateo Kovačić
I can't argue with that, I just mean quality wise. Like I said earlier it's really hard to say. For me, on talent alone, it's Pulisic, that's probably my fanboyism kicking in a bit but I have high hopes for him, if he can avoid getting injured. I think on his day, he's the best player in the blue.

It's really difficult to win a game at Old Trafford, I dare say it's one of the hardest fixtures we have, if not the hardest of the season. So no kneejerk reactions like we got after the Spurs game, try to be level headed about it. United are very good against the top sides and sitting back, I hope Frank goes for the smart choice and makes it a boring game. We can outplay them and dominate possession, but that won't matter, it will only play into their hands. As much sh*t as I've given Lamps for starting Mount, I wouldn't be against it this time.

Mateo Kovačić
It's still not a good metric. You can't say Mendy is our best player just because Kepa is sh*t. Plus almost every team in the world will massively struggle without their number 1 keeper.

Olivier Giroud to Chelsea
The season just started last month for crying out loud. There's gonna be a sh*t load of tight fixtures and Giroud is going to get his opportunity to play. Right now we've grabbed Werner who has to be playing in the middle otherwise we're wasting his talent and signing. Tammy has shown positive signs when he has played, especially with Havertz, Giroud will get his chance eventually.

Super Frank Lampard
To be devils advocate, and I completely agree with you. But I do think there are cases where teams just throw away 2 points, against the likes of Liverpool and City. They won't even bother trying to win the game and just setup defensively and hope for the best. That's what I kept seeing last season earlier in the season. But obviously it's really not as cut and dry as that, teams are obviously more confident that they can beat us instead of those two teams for a valid reason. But under Frank anyway, a lot of teams sit back and counter attack us because it works, that happened so many times last season.

Mateo Kovačić
That's not a good metric, that's because we have two terrible options besides him. That's like saying Chilwell is our best player because we will truly miss him if he's injured since Emerson and Alonso are that crap. It's hard to really say who our best player is, if I had to put it on market value, potential and talentwise, I would go Pulisic.

I can't stand this mentality, nothing but ultra hindsight. The same people who go on as if Lamptey is world class and wasn't given the chance here.

Yep, and that's fully commendable, but he's also a hypocrite because he's cozy and friendy with Erdogan who's not that far off the CCP when it comes to human rights abuses.

Hazard couldn't have went to Madrid at a worse time, he doesn't have long left at top level and it looks like it's going to take some time before Madrid are back on top again. It's looking that bad at Madrid that he probably had more chances of winning the Champions League if he had stayed here instead.

Super Frank Lampard
Slow down a bit yeah? You can't make a statement like that based off 3 games with Mendy in goal. We are definitely much better with Mendy in goal and Silva in the back 4, but that doesn't mean we have one of the best defences in the country.
-
Mateo Kovačić
The same Kante who has been bang average for a while now? If Kante is currently our best player, we are f**ked.

Welcome to Chelsea Ben Chilwell
Well I've just done that. And I thought Chilwell was destined to flop here, he didn't look Chelsea material to me at all. But I'm very happy to be wrong, and hopefully keep being wrong. He looks a player so far.

Zouma - If Kurt's Happy, I'm Happy!
It's not just about making mistakes, it's the fact that he underhits and overhits passes quite a lot. And when under pressure he flaps.
-
Edouard Mendy to Chelsea!
I wouldn't even bank on him saving it though, Kepa has some of the weakest wrists I've ever seen on a goalie.
-
Edouard Mendy to Chelsea!
That save in the first half that deflected off Zouma was absolutely brilliant. A very strong wrist and still managed to smack the ball out of the box while off balance, something we've really missed for years now since Tibo.
-
Welcome to Chelsea Ben Chilwell
I was just thinking, imagine having Alonso or Emerson there tonight instead? With how much Sevilla pushed up against the left in the 2nd half, it would've been awful for us. And the likelihood is, we would've conceded a goal. Chilwell was excellent going forward and defending. Glenn Hoddle was spot on, he's playing like he has been here for years, he really feels at home here. I don't want to jump the gun because there's plenty of time and he's only played a few games, but it looks like I was very wrong on this signing. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Welcome To Chelsea Thiago Silva *Official*
Besides a mistake at the start where he rushed in for a header and missed it, he was absolutely solid as a rock. His passing is exceptional.
-
Zouma - If Kurt's Happy, I'm Happy!
So do I, make no mistake, I would have him over Christensen and Rudiger any day, because he can at least defend. But it's not saying much. He is our best player to play next to Silva. And I'm not even saying we need to sell him, but we can't persist with Kurt Zouma in the long term, we do need better there. Obviously that isn't going to be until next season with all the money we've spent. We'll just have to hope him and Silva can play as many games as they can together this season, with Mendy in goal.

Chelsea v Sevilla (CL) Tue 20th Oct 2020 20:00 GMT
A big problem this season is going to be Thiago Silva missing games, I wish he would pack in international football.

Chelsea v Sevilla (CL) Tue 20th Oct 2020 20:00 GMT
I'm not going to read too much into this game performance wise. We kept a cleansheet and did look better and more organised defensively. Silva and Mendy were brilliant. Chilwell also, what an improvement on the left side. Reece James also put in a great performance. Not too impressed with our attackers however, I never thought I would be saying that after the match, it's usually the other way around. I thought Kovacic looked excellent though. Mount offers nothing outwide, he needs to stop playing there ASAP. Besides that turn and run by Kai he had a bad game, offered very little and was dispossesed a lot.
