It's a big gamble considering Costa is coming off a fresh injury.

That's a fair point, but if Costa goes down early we have an ageing Drogba and a horribly out of sorts Torres to fall back on. That's clearly not good enough, and we'll find ourselves in exactly the same position as last season. Someone like Bamford has a lot of promise, but he's not ready to step up just yet. I just think we're a little bit thin now Lukaku has left.

Disappointed in Lukaku more than anything. The business was good, it's always nice landing a big profit on a player that's hardly played, but I would have preferred him to stay and fight for a spot. He would have got his chances this year, as we play a lot of games year in year out. It's his own fault though really. Had he stayed last year he would have ended up our number one striker, but instead he jumped ship when things got a little tough. I like Everton though, so I hope he does well for them, and I hope he gets them to a top 4 spot over the likes of United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

This is the best case scenario. I don't even care we would be paying for most of his wages either. It'll be money well spent if it means we eventually get rid of him.

Cech seems to think he's going ok. Though I see your point, it's not like he's ever going to be our number one unless something out of this world happens.

This is awesome if he sticks to his words. I can't see why he wouldn't stick to them either. He seems confident in these players, and just hearing what he has said about them is going to give them a huge boost as well. It's really all up to them now to put in the hard yards and prove they are worthy to wear the blue of Chelsea.

In an ideal world Torres would go. It's a bit worrying that nobody is even interested in him. He, he's been a flop, but he still has some qualities, and a change of scenery could actually get him back into some kind of form.

I don't think it's a step backwards, especially if Drogba is to go into a coaching role next season. If Lukaku stays then Drogba can teach him, and that's very much a forward step. He's not been bought to lead the line, that's what Costa was signed for, he's there to add some experience and some quality depth if we fall into an injury crisis. I know Ba got a couple of important goals for us last season, but he wasn't exactly great cover over all when we really needed it. Drogba can provide that cover whilst also helping out Lukaku (if he stays, of course).

It is a weird transitional phase for us as Cech has been the one constant over the past decade. He's given so much to the club, and he's still one of the best in the world. He would walk into any starting line up. I just hope if we do sell him (whether it's this season or next) he doesn't go to one of our EPL rivals. Not sure how long Buffon has got in him but Juve could be a nice fit for Cech. Of course, Pogba coming in the opposite direction would be pretty sweet too!

I was thinking the same thing. We could easily create our own, but who ever runs it will have a long season ahead of them.

A draft would be awesome tbh. Every pick you make would actually mean putting a bit of thought into it. If you find one let us know, because I'd be interested.

With Soldado joining Spurs I reckon I'll have to do a bit of a squad shift to fit him in. Lambert down to a 6.0 forward and Lukaku to Soldado is looking likely at this stage.

I'm an Aussie and I love this signing. I know a lot of other Aussies are a little annoyed that he won't be playing regular first team football before the World Cup, but at Chelsea he will be training with the very best players in the world, and I think that will spark him on to try and prove that he's more than just a mere back up. I also think he will get a fair few games this season because he is streets ahead of the like of Turnball and Hilario, so we will feel much more comfortable giving Cech some much needed rests throughout the season. From a Chelsea point of view this is one of our better signings. We all know he's 40, but he cost nothing, he's an excellent keeper, and it's only for one season before Courtois comes back to really push Cech for that number one spot.
