He's only, what, 21 so maybe he's not in the elite category now but if we landed him he most definitely could be in a couple of years. That and imagine how much he could learn from Koulibaly and Silva. Finally, he's already premier league ready so he won't need "a year to settle in". As far as this transfer goes it all makes sense but we'll no doubt get absolutely fleeced as everyone knows we need a defender and Leicester are in no rush to sell and will only sell on their own terms.

If we get the guy we get him and if we were serious we did all we could, it's as simple as that. I'd have taken him as he would have provided something a bit different, but that said it's nowhere near the end of the world that we didn't land him. Leao would be ideal but is probably out of our reach and Gnabry is staying loyal to his Arsenal roots for what ever reason. It would be nice to get either of those two but if not we still need someone I feel. Who that is after any of those three I don't honestly know.

With add ons?

Ake would be a great signing if it was on top of a Kounde or de Ligt. Still, even if we do get him I think that won't mean we won't pursue another defender. Blind Freddy can see we need a defensive overhaul and Ake alone is quite clearly not going to fix that but Ake on top of a real world class defender suddenly gives us a decent amount of depth at the back. We shouldn't enter panic mode just yet when our main targets are still on the table.

Despite his age we'd be mad not to pursue this. He still has at least two years playing at the highest level and if we can get him for those two years he will bang goals in for us for fun. Imagine a front three of Sterling, Lewandowski and Havertz let alone if we do get Rahpinha on top of that. That would be elite!

We needed a quality 4th mid and we got him, what's not to like about this? The option to buy is also great as we aren't obligated to sign him if it doesn't work out. It's going to be a very long season and we need this kind of quality in our depth if we want to fight on all fronts. I think he'll do a fine job here as he's 4th mid so no real pressure but when asked upon I think he'll show us all why it is such a great loan.

Happy with our window as is but if we were able to get this one done it would have put us right into a 9/10 window. I think we'll be fine at CB, but of course it's always nice to add and improve on what you've got. I do think we'll be in for him in January and if not definitely at the end of the season.

I think the loan deal makes sense for all involved here. If he does well we would have that option to buy but if not we can look at other targets. It's going to be a long season so we'll need him at various stages and a change of scenery could turn his form around. Little downside to this deal imo.

Poor Superman!

This tbh. Don't get me wrong, I love Azpi and he puts in every game he plays for us and he's been one of our best buys ever considering the price we paid for. What he's done for us is absolutely amazing but he's 31 now, almost 32, and we need to have a plan in place. He'll still play as it's going to be a huge season but we'll also need depth as well. James and Hakimi are 21 and 22 and we could get ten years out of them both compared to just another two or three out of Azpi with his behind him at that point.

He would be a class addition for sure! Big money but I think it would be well worth it if it doesn't effect our other major plans. IF we went big this transfer period and signed Haaland and Rice (and possibly another CB), for example, Hakimi would be the cherry on top!
