Nathan Ake

Featured Replies

Apparently TT has been interested in him since his days as Dortmund manager! Long term interest then lol.

Anyways reports are we have enquired to City about him while in negotiations with them for Sterling and we see him as Toni's replacement.

City have been quoting 50mill plus for him. Guess we are looking at City back ups lol.

Jesus, are the new guys involved in some money laundering scheme with City?

This whole idea of City bringing in £100m+ of legit funds this summer is really making me sick.

I fear there's loadsa money there whatever transfer fees they generate  If we indeed after Sterling and possibly Aké, I'm not sure not buying them for the sake of keeping our money out of their transfer kitty would actually make a difference to them.

Yes exactly, I’d rather that remain dirty money to be frank, keep them in the courts with UEFA for as long as possible.

Sure, the catering department is crying out for a kroketten-maker!

It won't be me (spoiler alert), my only attempt at making kroketten ended in the sink, it was that liquid :blush2:

Okay, that would be nice  But they will wriggle out of it in the end.

Imagine if Boehly was actually the Sheik's mate and we've just become their sister club/dumping ground for done players.

I'd say it depends on a few  things.

1. Would he be expecting to start

2. How much would he cost?

3. Would we sign anyone else and loan colwill out

If we are sticking to a back three, he's happy to be a rotation option and he doesn't cost too much then he's absolutely an upgrade on sarr for me. He can play lcb and in the centre to give rest to Silva and him being solid and experienced in the prem would give colwill time to bed in and wouldn't be a "big name" to block colwill being integrated as a starter. Or if we say signed koulibally and loaned colwill out to a prem side on top of signing someone like Kounde for the right side then a choice of Kounde, koulibally, Silva, chalobah and Ake would be very strong.

If Chelsea look to move to a back four then he could also cover for chilwell at left back or even be used as cover in defensive midfield. To me if he's a squad option I think this makes sense even though it's a little bit uninspired. Also would he be happy moving from city to be another squad player

I don't understand what's so good about Ake when we let (in my opinion) two better prospects in Tomori and Guehi leave, and still have one left in Colwill.  I'd much rather fasttrack Colwill's development.  Ake doesn't have a super high ceiling, he is neither technical enough nor physical enough at CB, and hasn't got the pace to play wide.

I feel he has stagnated since he joined City and personally I don’t think he’s good enough for a first team spot. A squad player sure, really we should have kept him or one of Tomori and Guehi. Infuriating we’ve ended up in this situation when we had all of these talents.

Really underwhelmed with the thought of resigning Ake, but city fans are having a bit of a meltdown about him possibly leabing, so obviously they rate him pretty highly it seems.

I never wanted him sold, wouldve bought him back when we had the chance, but seems a bit of strange one.

£34.5m is a fair price, very well suited to play left in a 3, and has just won a league title in a back 4, although only started 10 games.

Decent option, although i would prefer us to bring in Kounde and Koulibaly in all honesty.

Why are City fans bothered when he is their forth choice CB he some margin?

If he's going to block Colwill and lead to us losing him, I will be very annoyed. He seems a top talent and not one we should be selling. But we have no idea what this new owner wants. Roman wanted to start using the academy more, Todd may not care.

I was surprised too, I think its mainly because they have injury issues with the other 3, and whenever Ake has came in, he has generally been solid for them.

Mascherano won a Champions League in peps system, so im not sure it is the best place to scout for centre backs.

Ake and Kounde in a back 4 seems pretty lightweight to me, although i read that Ake might just be a utility player covering left back, centre back and Defensive midfield, which would mean us signing another 2 centre backs?

Really not sure what the plam is for next season, guess we will have to wait until we get a few players in. Could be a 3, or a 4. Not sure where Mount, Raphinha, Sterling fit in a 343, and you would imagine all 3 with Havertz are guaranteed to start. (assuming barca dont hijack the hijack).

Easily the worst defender at City, can't see him making into the team ahead of Chalobah, may as well keep Colwill and Sarr, one of them may turn out to be good. The attraction is he's a Chelsea junior and could play left back, but that's hardly a selling point, especially he wont come cheap.

I just hope this wouldn’t get in the way of Colwill’s possible progress.

Not a transfer that excites me tbh but if TT thinks he could work in our system we’ll just have to wait and see I suppose.

Is there a fan out there that could be genuinely excited about Nathan Ake joining their club? I'm yet to know one. I was happy when we sold him to Bournemouth and shocked when they managed to get 40m from City for his services two years ago.

Whenever people are trying to say something positive about him they say how versatile he is. To me, it's just a polite way of saying he can play many  positions but none of them good enough to be a starter in a top side.

I could think of a dozen players from City I'd rather poach than him and quite a long list of defenders from various clubs I'd rather go after before I even begin to entertain an idea of bringing Ake back to the Bridge. This is truly a weird rumour and I hope there's no basis to it.

We have no defenders and Thiago Silva doesn't have long left, if Levi Colwill doesn't get a chance in this side then no one ever will.  Maybe its too early for him this season, but if we end up prioritising someone like Ake over this lad I will not be happy.  It will also send a message to the rest of the youth team that Guehi and Livramento were right to not wait for their chance.  It seems youth players don't get their chance here by design but due to an unforeseen problems in the transfer window and we are forced to use them.  I guess the plus side is Ake isn't much competition for Colwill.

Ake is short as well isn't he ? Listed as 180cm ... not the greatest idea when the other two at the back are Silva (181) and probably now looking like Kounde (also 181). Sarr is a short centre back as well (182). If Dave or James are playing RCB, they aren't even 180 !!!

I know there have been plenty of top class short centre backs, but given the choice, you'd much rather have the extra physical presence not only for defending, especially set pieces, but also as a goal threat at the other end from corners etc.

De Ligt (189), Chalobah (190) and Colwill (187) for me .... Koulibaly (186) as a stop gap if the club feel Colwill is not ready ...
