MOTM vs West Brom
Mikel for me. Thought he played brilliantly in the first half, didn't really pay attention in the second half as we were clear victors. Anelka deserves props for his brace and he looked like a chelsea player today. Woooooop

Brilliant goal from Bossie and Anelka actually scored 2 decent goals rather than a thigh against Blackburn + 2 tap-ins and a lucky goal against Sunderland. Brilliant finish for both goals, great play by Kalou for the 2nd! We should cruise this boys :)

Was thinking the exact same thing. He rates a player that's been with us for 10/11 months (FDS) but not players who've been with us since they were 15/16. That makes sense.

Fair point, I can't recall a bad game he's had for us, in all honesty. Will I regret that comment? Probably.

Alex is injured? I didn't know of this if it's true... Going to be a tricky one, selection wise. LFS said on the website (http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0...1454377,00.html) that he has a 24 man squad, but 6 are out. Who is this 24 man squad, because on the squad list it shows we have 27...? Going for: .....................Cech ...Bos...Ivanovic...JT...Bridge ....................Mikel ..........Deco.............Lampard ..Kalou............................Malouda ........................Anelka Subs: Carlo Belletti A. Cole Ferreira Mineiro Sinclair Drogba

LC 4th Round, Chelsea vs Burnley, 12/11/08, 19:45 GMT
The upsides for me about the squad are: 1) JT and Lampard getting the rest they deserve 2) Bridge's captaincy 3) Drogba starts 4) At least he's put Di Santo, Woods and Sinclair on the bench. The downsides? well... : 1) No Stoch? 2) Malouda picked ahead of Sinclair. 3) Even though they're in the squad, like in the Portsmouth game, they'll get 10 minutes, 15 if they're lucky. I really saw this as a chance for the likes of Sinclair and Di Santo to make their mark on this Chelsea squad, but the fact that they only make the bench really grinds my gears. Hopefully, if we're comfortable at HT with maybe a 2-0 lead, bring them both on! Let them prove themselves! But, I see it as unlikely.

Just checked them both and the only links on either are just links to the blog you're looking at. Not looking promising. :)

PL, Blackburn Vs. Chelsea, 9/11/08, 13:30 GMT
Everyone seems to say that Malouda didn't play badly, but I agree with Chippy on this one. He seemed like he was always running down a blind alley. He would take on one man, get to the edge of the box and do the complete wrong thing - pass. As he's in the box, he should run at his man - it's a win-win situation. He can either take on his man and get a cross in or get passed his man but gets fouled and wins a penalty!

MOTM v. Blackburn (PL Away)
Cech for me also, made a few crucial saves to keep it at 1-0 at the end of the first half/beginning of the 2nd up until Anelka scored the 2nd, after that we cruised. Anelka I think had his best game in a Chelsea shirt, but went for Cech for his sheer class. Oh and the guy that wrote the article on Cech not being the best in the world anymore isn't fit to be a journalist, in all honesty.

PL, Blackburn Vs. Chelsea, 9/11/08, 13:30 GMT
Well Blackburn have been a bit of a bogey team in the past so I really don't expect a 0-6 victory, 2K. I'm expecting a tight 1-1, maybe sneak a 1-2 win, game. Cech Bosingwa, Alex, JT, Bridge Deco, Mikel, Lampard J.Cole, Anelka, Malouda Subs: Carlo, Belletti, Ivanovic, Ferreira, Kalou, Di Santo, Drogba.

Chelsea Target Owen
I would advise this plan... Give Newcastle an exchange - Owen for Anelka. Bring in Owen to play while Drogba starts getting fit and play Drogba alongside gradually while he gets his fitness. Here's the genius bit. Owen and Drogba will probably get injured along the season so that'llgive Di Santo his time to shine! Nah, not really. Bring in Owen to play with Anelka, then when Drogba gets fit again, play Owen and Drogba up front. Only bad thing is that that would send Anelka to 3rd choice and Di Santo to 4th. Bit of a conundrum in all honesty, but I would personally go for it, it's exactly what we need - a goalscorer!

That Cheat Gerrard
Could this be the beginning of the media turning against Saint Stevie's Liverpool? Unfortunately, I doubt it. Most papers would see it as a mere blip in Stevie G's phenomenal career, and they're sure he will show his class when, not if, when Liverpool get to the CL Final, CC Final, FA Final and the last weekend of the premiership top of the league. I really have to pay my respects to Stevie. He's wriggled his way out of so many situations and won the hearts of scousers worldwide by either; 1. diving. 2. score a 35 yarder that would be goal of the season when if Lampard did one exactly the same, it would be seen as a "good shot". or 3. lead Liverpool to a fluke point/victory with a 2nd half penalty that never was. He really is brilliant. You can't fault the cheating git, can you?

Who have we missed the most this season due to injury?
Essien and a fully fit, motivated DD. Essien is the complete package for a player. He can play anywhere. What seperates him from Mikel, of the quality Mikel has, he can score goals! Mikel's good going forward but as soon as he prepares to shoot, everyone watching groans because we know a goal kick is iminent. Midfield diamond with Mikel at the base, Essien and Deco on the right and left (obviously with a liscence to roam) and Lampard at the top. Put Kalou/Anelka/Cole playing not as a striker, but to support DD up front. Foolproof! :( Now DD is a player we've been missing. Even though Anelka is the league's top scorer, his finishing hasn't been brilliant, lets be honest. Goal against Stoke was nearly saved, his hatrick vs. Sunderland was 2 tap-ins and a very unconvincing slide that hit the keepers knee and looped over him into the net! Drogba has the eye and need for goals that Anelka doesn't have. Anelka rarely powers his shots and goes for the neat finish, but Drogs' motto is: if in doubt, smash it! That hunger for goals is something we've missed, along with his ability to win 90% of high balls given to him, able to win most header opportunities he gets (when Malouda or Kalou or Joey Cole can actually put a good cross in!) unlike Anelka who couldn't win a header if his life depended on it! Drogba, get fully fit NOW!, and Essien, be back ASAP!

Dubious goal committee
It's taken them this long to do that?!

Injuries!
He's still out I'm afraid. But, according to BBC Sport, Drogba is in the squad at the weekend...can only be a good sign!

Injuries!
3 weeks apparently. Could be worse I suppose as we have excellent cover in Alex and Ivanovic. Essien is apparently back at the end of Jan...would be brilliant to have him back so early, but needs to slow things down and not play a full 90 mins until he's played 15 mins here and there just to get him fired up again. Drogs is back soon also! Also musn't rush back into it like he did before. We have enough cover in defence and midfield, but up front we have nought. Drogs needs to come back fast...oh, but not too fast :D
