Posted November 9, 200816 yr Burnley have had a cracking start to the season but went down 2-0 at the weekend to Wolves (with Mancienne impressing at the back). I am sure Scolari will be fielding a strong side however surely we will take the opportunity to rest some of the players who have being playing a lot of games. Maybe something like ...............................Carlo............................... Ferreira..........Ivanovic........Alex..................Bridge ...............................Belletti................................ .................Deco......................Lampard.............. ....Kalou...............................................Sinclair.... ................................Di Santo..........................
November 9, 200816 yr If we field the same team as we have for the past couple of games, I will lose all faith in any youngsters ever starting for us this season. Barring any major injuries. Barnsley are a tough nut to crack, and they've beaten us and Liverpool last season, right? however, I really hope to see Sinclair, Di Santo, Ivanovic all start and Stoch maybe warranting a place on the bench. Terry needs to be rested too, but I think Paulo will be on the bench. I'd like to see ..............................Carlo Bosingwa.......Ivanovic....Alex.......Bridge ............................Mikel .................Belletti...........Lampard ......Kalou...................................Sinclair ...........................FDS Not sure if woods or any of the other boys are likely to make steps up to the bench this game, but surely if Stoch has made the bench already, he can for this game too Scott
November 9, 200816 yr Author Barnsley are a tough nut to crack, Well we are lucky we haven't drawn them then!!
November 9, 200816 yr Sorry mate, half asleep here. Stayed up way too late, thought the game this morning was on later so had time to spare. had about 3 hours sleep and got up to see the game ending! So, Burnley, eh? Lot easier than Barnsley, but my points remain the same!
November 9, 200816 yr Can't see him resting JT but I can see Mineiro getting a start and hopefully Franco too but something tells me he'll have Scotty on the bench. I'd like to see Stoch involved at some point.
November 9, 200816 yr I really can't understand why we signed Mineiro. From all the accounts I've read about him, his only asset was his ability to run non-stop throughout a game - but now that he's getting older, he's not able to do that very well now. So if these reports are correct we've signed a talentless old player who can't run much anymore - great! Almost as good a deal as Mourinho's signing of Maniche ;)
November 9, 200816 yr Hoping to see Sinclair and Di Santo for this game. Give Lamps, Deco, Bosingwa etc a rest.
November 9, 200816 yr Whats happened to Fabio Paim? lets put a strnge team out against Burnley and give him a run if he's still about ------------------Carlo------------- Ferreira--Ivanovich--Alex----Bridge -----------------Miniero---------------- --------Stoch-----------Belletti-------- Paim----------Di Santo---------Sinclair Hilario Boswinga Terry Mikel Drogba Malouda Kalou Far too many changes at once even for this game, but it would be interesting. Ferreira..........Ivanovic........Alex.............Bridge ................................Belletti.............................. ...................Deco......................Miniero.............. ................................Kalou................................. ....................Drogba.........Di Santo...................... Subs: Hilario Lampard Terry Anelka Sinclair Stoch Paim 2-0 win.
November 10, 200816 yr I hope we give the likes of Di Santo and Sinclair a start. It annoyed me yesterday when we were 2-0 up and we brought on Ferreira. Why not give Sinclair or Di Santo a few minutes.
November 10, 200816 yr Picking up on another thread about blooding some of Arnesons youth stars. The players I have seen who look like they could be up to the task are: Taylor in goal, Nana, Brouma, Magnay, Woods, Bridcott, Mellis, Kakuta, Stoch, Sinclair and Di Santo. I wouldn't play all of them though. Better to start with a good spine and put players in around them. --------------------------Taylor Ivanovic---------Brouma------JT----------Bridge ------------------------Mikel ------------Woods--------------Lampard Sinclair----------------------------------Stoch -------------------Di Santo Subs: Carlo, Nana, Magnay, Kakuta, Mellis, Bridcott, Drogba
November 10, 200816 yr I would love to see a team with at least 3 youngters but unfortunatly i think Di santo will be on the bench because Scolari will want to get Drogba fit hopefully though a few will get on, ive heard good things about woods, can anyone tell us what sort of player he is other than the fact he's a central midfielder?
November 10, 200816 yr I expect to see Carlo Paulo Ivan Terry Bridge Maniero Belleti Deco Cole Drogba Sinclair Although it should be nothing more than a walk in the park, I dont think Scolari will risk it by playing more than 2 youngsters.
November 11, 200816 yr I hope we'll see some youngsters get some time on the pitch but it seems like Scolari is like the other managers we've had lately when it comes to letting youngsters through. I want to see Di Franco start and let some promising young guys like Stoch, Kakuta and such show what they can do for the first team. But I would not be surprised if Scolari fielded a very strong team. Perhaps letting Ferreira and Cudicini start but that's it. Lampard should get some rest every now and then but I don't think Frankie wants any rest. He wanna play every single minute of every single game (the same as JT). It all comes down to how stern Scolari can be with those players. Can he put his foot down and say "No, you need some rest!" to them? But I hope I'm wrong. I really do
November 11, 200816 yr Bet we see Ivanovic, Di Santo and Sinclair getting a run. Not sure Drogba is even fit. If he was he would have been up at Blackburn.
November 11, 200816 yr the games are coming fast and furious at the moment although i would love for us to go all the way (i love going wembley) i see this competition as the least important, scolari needs to give his young lads some experience and the only way theyre going get it is by playing games of the calibre, if we lose its no real big loss, and the young ens get some valuable experience i can see scolari putting out a very strong side for the visit of burnley, with drogba and cole leading the line to get there match fitness up, he may rest the likes of lampard and deco but i reckon they'll be on the bench, just in case, and the likes of di santo and stoch wont get a look in which is a shame (and i hope i'm wrong) i think sinclair will get a start and maybe miniero we should win as i dont think burnley will be taking the risk of getting injuries and suspensions as they are fighting for promotion and that will be far more important to them than the cup

So if these reports are correct we've signed a talentless old player who can't run much anymore - great! Almost as good a deal as Mourinho's signing of Maniche :D Replacement for Essien as Scolari just stated in last reports. I really, really hope we put young, strongly attacking side against Burnley. -------------Carlo/Henrique--------------- Ivanovic------Alex-------Terry------Bridge -------------------Mineiro------------------ ------Mikel-----------------Deco----------- Sinclair----------------------------Malouda -------------------DiSanto------------------ Rest: J.Cole, Lampard, Bosingwa, Anelka Alternatives: Ballack instead of Mikel, Paolo instead of Ivanovic, Kalou instead of Malouda Drogba?? Where is he? Maybe he should have a crack at it. WHY young and attacking side?: Potentially we crush our opponent and our younger guys show what they can do and have a chance at playing in more important games. DiSanto would open scoring for us! If we lose it hurts for a day and then we realize it is good that we don't have to play this cup anymore this year with our super-thin squad.
November 11, 200816 yr Burnley are doing pretty well in the League so it'l be a tough test, i'd still love to see some of the young lads given a run out, Stoch and di Santo have been on the bench a few times and i'd expect both of them to figure, would be nice to throw a few of the others like Paim, maybe Gael Kakuta onto the bench for the experience

November 11, 200816 yr Will he make changes I think not, maybe one, whatever team he puts out we should win so why not give the youngster a go and see what they made of :D
November 11, 200816 yr Agree with the calls for the youth to FINALLY be given a chance. If they don't get a look in for games like these, I can see some of them (and especially Sinclair) beginning to look for other clubs where they will be given a chance to prove themselves. We have to show them that CFC is a club where the best young players will have a genuine chance to rise through the ranks, or our academy will ultimately flounder and the pick of the young talent will always choose the Arse or even Sp*rs over us.
November 11, 200816 yr Replacement for Essien as Scolari just stated in last reports. I think you kind of missed my point: - Michael Essien = great player Mineiro = a clapped out never-was (as opposed to a clapped out has-been) Not much of a replacement in my eyes - bit like replacing Pele with Robert Fleck
