Funnily enough he’s the cousin of a mate of mine that’s been stalwart CFC for years. Thought he was more Mitcham than Streatham but could be wrong. Yes heard stories about him attaching bangers to cats tails as a kid- no idea whether true or not. Pretty sure he played for Mitcham Royals who were a sh*t hot Sunday team. He was at Birmingham when they had a few “ hatters” in the team. Hopkins, Mick Hartford, Noel Blake etc Re Wally Downes, my mate was only an apprentice there, however he learnt early not to stand to close to him in the shower, otherwise he might mistake your leg for a tree trunk….

Rather admit they made a mistake in not signing any experienced, proven players, they are doubling down and continuing on the same route. That is either plain stupidity or more likely bruised egos. Maybe 3 key players of pedigree could make the world of a difference

Next Manager (post Poch)
Haven’t scrolled through to see if it’s been mentioned before,or googled to see if factually correct, !however Im told Betway are offering 3 to 1, Chelsea starting the season without a permanent manager or shirt sponsor

I remember Peter Shilton getting some serious stick from the Shed when he got caught out with that Tina bird. When Stan Bowls died recently read a brilliant piece from a Birmingham fan in a letters column of a newspaper. He had a publicised separation from his missus, and was playing at St Andrews. ” Where’s your wife gone, Where’s your wife gone Stanley Bowls” Stan schrugged his shoulders ” With the Milkman, with the milkman Stanley Bowls” Apparantly he doubled up with laughter. What a man

Just thinking back on the songs that were sung when he got caught having it away with Mary Brown. Incredibly bad taste considering he’d been a very instrumental manager of ours only ten years or so previous

So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!
Just checked online- started supporting club as a nipper in early 70s when Dave Sexton…the next manager will be the 38th appointment including interims- had to double check- quite staggering

Would love to hear an inside track as to what went on in the dressing room with Jose Mark 2. Normally the truth emerges when players retire and write autobiography’s. However players from that period no longer need the dough a book would provide. Unless I’m wrong, JT was pretty silent on the matter when interviewed by Simon Jordan. Personally think the it’s so unfair, referees and the Premier League are against us, siege mentality he created backfired. If anything refs refused to be cowed by him and gave 50/50 decisions against us as a result. No idea whether he lost the changing room or not, but he wasn’t a ray of sunshine that’s for sure. Funny how things change; the perception back then was that you had to apply pressure on officials, and be a generally nasty bastard to succeed as a Premiership manager. Ala Jose and Fergie. Then out of nowhere cutie pie Ranieri wins the league, and a nice guy albeit slightly animated Pep claims 6 out of the last 7 titles….

I live in Cobham and see approval for the training ground be sold on for housing slim to zero. It’s bounded by a minor road one side which is already congested, and a railway track on the other.

So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!
Not one of life’s linguist’s…..Apparently when Michael Owen went to Madrid his Spanish was quickly superior to Beckhams, even though Beckham had been out there for a year

Fairly sure he used an interpreter, certainly for interviews during his entire spell af Southampton

Stockwell was a tough manor. Went to college with a few lads from that way early 80s. Rule of thumb, white lads were mostly CFC, black lads Arsenal. Around that time Arsenal had a little firm of black lads from Walworth.- The clothing we wore to the football back then.
He was chairman of Grays Athletic. Last I heard he had a pub in Chingford. There’s also a YouTube documentary called Acid House Gangsters centred on Exchoes Nightclub in Bow and a pirate radio station. Wasn’t in that my scene but my brother was. An ex ICF splinter had a reputation for CS gassing places and taking over security at raves. They were very entrepreneurial- The clothing we wore to the football back then.
That’s right. It was called The Knockers. Highly amusing. There was a follow up in 93 showing had the lads in the documentary had faired a decade or so after. Both available on YouTube. Yes Swallow featured.- John Terry interview - Up Front With Simon Jordan
Loved the story about Dennis Wise suggesting that the captains armband should be relinquished, and passed on to JT. Very classy gesture.- Vintage Blues pictures and film
I do remember the Hole in The Wall in Waterloo which is still there. Still pretty primitive inside. Early 80’s we had a little firm that used to meet in there. Only went there a couple of times pre match, but full of chaps. You had to be careful in Waterloo back then, due to Pompey.- The clothing we wore to the football back then.
Fair point. The body shape of young males has completely changed over a generation, even though they’re “ fake muscles” I do however think, that certainly until House Music exploded in 88, we lived in more violent times. Where I came from, pub fights, nightclub fights in those places you had to put a tie on to go in, football fights we’re common place. Not as well built as the current crop, but more GBH Merchants- Vintage Blues pictures and film

One of the rare instances had a pre match beer at the SW3 end of the Kings Road pre match- only 16 years old in The Chelsea Potter- 509 hundred Spurs disembarked at Sloane Square and walked down Kings Road- only reason I was at the Potter was because my mate had arranged to meet a sort he’s met before the week before there- quite an impressive slight tee Spurs boys walking through together pp- The John Terry Appreciation Thread
Clocked him at Pets At Home in Raynes Park bout 10 years ago. He was looking at dog baskets with his partner Toni Poole. Shocked by just how massive he was across the shoulders. Proper Honey Monster. From waist to shoulders looked like a snooker frame. His anatomy helped him become a master of the subtle, just right side of legal body check. Loved the guy - Vintage Blues pictures and film
