What a stupid post, Giggs was accused of physically and mentally abusing his partner for years and cheated with his wife with his brothers wife, nothing like the stuff Terry was accused of.

I'm not even gonna get into with anyone and their blue tinted glasses, especially you. Have a good day.
April 27, 20242 yr Good interview. Was interesting hearing about the AVB plane fiasco. Fair play to his mum for supporting him when his dad had a strop about him signing for Chelsea. He denied being a Man United fan as a child but I’m sure he said he was in his autobiography.

April 27, 20242 yr Loved the story about Dennis Wise suggesting that the captains armband should be relinquished, and passed on to JT. Very classy gesture.

April 27, 20242 yr Author Really a cracking interview. Only put it on for 5 minutes but ended up watching the entire thing.
April 27, 20242 yr Loved hearing his comments towards peak Mourinho. Terry and Lampard really were Mourinho disciples. Efficiency and consistency. Also Simon Johnson taking the piss asking Terry if he considers himself a European Champion simply because he didn't play the final. DiMatteo relied heavily on Terry to unite the players during those months. Ignited the comeback against Napoli and defended like a lion against Barcelona to keep the clean sheet and prevent the away goal, while playing with a broken rib. Kante didn't play against West Brom when we secured the title so by that logic he wasn't a PL winner for us.
April 27, 20242 yr There is a good podcast with JT here>> -the-blueprint-tapes-with-john-terry-part-1.

It's only because people had a raging hate boner for John Terry, if it were anyone else it wouldn't have got that kind of traction.

Blatant disrespect for the manager, and undermined him from the very start. Refused to stay on the plane unless he sat in first class, like some self-entitled d**khead. Whatever his rationale (kids have to pay their dues and not sit in first class blah blah blah), it was a dick move in my book....

Can see a bit of both Jim, I can see JT's point but at the same time it comes across very bratty. Tbh I love and adore Terry and Lampard, but the way they behaved under AVB never really sat right with me. Despite AVB being a bit of a tool, they weren't the most professional under his reign.

I don't necessarily disagree with JTs sentiment, but as a captain and leader, there is a way to go about it - particularly knowing that there was a new manager there. And JT stomping his feet, undermining the manager and threatening to walk off the plane unless he sat in first class, is not the actions of a true leader.
April 27, 20242 yr Very interesting listening to him talk about the F.A after he was cleared in court. He had an agreement with the F.A that whatever was said in the court was the final say, but they went back on that and suspended him and took the captaincy from him. Didn't even allow him to defend himself with the evidence used in the court of law. What a disgusting organisation. He touched on the golden generation failing and that he never really understood why it didn't work out. But if you listen to his words, maybe the problem has always been the F.A rather than the players. He said how playing for England often felt like miserable experience when it should be the best of your career. The wrong coach, appointed by the F.A, made to sit in suits in hot conditions when travelling to and from games for sponsorship reasons, again, because of the F.A. Not feeling free and allowed to enjoy themselves, again, because of the F.A. Other countries players were free to express themselves and enjoy the experience, our lot were constantly put in uncomfortable positions and under constant pressure. I found it uncomfortable listening to his dad's reaction to choosing Chelsea over United. My mum's a United fan and my dad is a Forest fan, if I ever had the opportunity as a kid to choose from so many clubs, they would have supported me no matter what decision I made. Neither of them would have stepped in and refused to sign the papers because they would prefer me to move to the club of their choice. Maybe that helped Terry grow into the strong personality on the pitch that he was, but I don't think that is the only way to achieve that. His dad comes across terribly in my opinion. I also never knew about his connections with Arsenal and West Ham. Seems like every club knew he was going to be something special. Feels good that despite not being considered an elite club, we had that something special that could attract such a gifted footballer. It's also finally good to hear it from Terry's mouth that he was never a United fan. I can finally tell my brothers to shut up about that now 😆

But in contrast, how would that look when the most successful club captain who helped build the club to where it is, is being forced to fly economy whilst the youngsters are looking at him from first class? Anyone with any sense of dignity and pride would be pissed off, and it wasn't just himself. He, Lampard, and Drogba were going to leave the plane.

But to undermine the new manager, and risk upsetting the balance at the club you love, and getting the new manager off to such a bad start - was, in my opinion, an error of judgement. Rather than causing a scene, and threatening to walk off the plane, The right thing to do would be to take it on the chin, let the young lads have their 5 mins in the sun (in first class) and have a quiet word with avb in private once they had arrived at the destination, explaining how it landed with the senior players and explaining the discontent and why he thinks it shouldn't happen. The decision is then back with AvB - with JT as a player, falling in line with whatever that may be.

Worth remembering this wasn't the first and only time AVB tried some brash revolutionism that ended up failing horrifically.
April 29, 20242 yr I know it's back in the days, but imagine if this is happening today and people see JT and Lampard in economy, the sh1t will go viral. I don't get what AVB was trying to achieve, making everyone sits in economy may have made some sense, but just to shove the senior players in there? Sounds like a complete idiot move. JT had every right to have a go, the hierarchy in the dressing room is important. What's next, JT to clean boots for young Macfaran?😁 No wonder AVB's era didn't last long, lost the core of the team as soon as he got in.
