michaelsw6 reacted to abramovich in Djordje Petrovic signs for Chelsea
Except he already did compete for that position and won. Why should he go through this again?
If we had Cech or Courtois as our starting goalkeeper and young Petrovic was demanding to start ahead of them I'd ship him out the moment he opened his mouth. But he proved he's better than Sanchez and he shouldn't accept anythig but a starting spot. Even in situations when backup goalkeepers know they aren't as good as starters they often demand to leave simply because they have ambition and self-belief and want to play regularly instead of warming the bench. If you know and proved you're the best in your position at the club, accepting anything but a starting spot is madness,

On ownership: you can't compare owners with each other but have you ever seen what is going on in Manchester United? You want that type of scenario with the owners?
How did they blow 1bn? Where? I would argue that before the club hired the directors we bought the likes of Sterling, Koulibaly, Aubameyang, Nkunku....that Money was essentially wasted. That was also the way Roman blew through millions.
The young players we have bought with the directors for me are all (who are not sold already) under review for years. You can't tell whether a player becomes good or we can sell for profit or at least for what we paid of them.
I am not fan of Boehly and co but I think I see what their plan is and I think it is fine if they keep it on track and won't derail after every bump on the road or every sound our bunch does.

Agreed. Maresca talks like a manager who has a long track record of success that he can fall back on to give his claims credibility. Problem is he has f**k all to fall back on. He is bloated with self importance and has an arrogance that only the likes of Jose in his prime, Guardiola and other serial winners can justify.
Yes his cards aren't fabulous. sh*te keepers, average centre halves, one good full back and one ok one, one quality central midfielder and one quality creative midfielder. Surrounding that is a bloated squad of below par talent. So arguably he is maybe doing as well as could be expected. This isn't a top four squad. But, that said, Liverpool aside, no other teams are massively impressing. So an iffy squad like ours could compete. Unfortunately we don't just have a lot of average players, we also have a poor mentality and a manager who seems utterly incapable of getting football players to even play at their level let alone beyond it. That is not a team we are watching. It is 11 players thrown out to play a football game.
I'd sack him now. Wouldn't wait till the summer.

Blames the fans, blames the 2 players that need the confidence right now, anyone but himself!
Every single interview he flushes his reputation even more with everyone around him! He is begging for the sack!

The guy is a lunatic. To be honest, it has been hidden in plain sight all season. Any manager who chooses Sanchez as his number 1 keeper, and declares Nicolas Jackson his dream striker is clearly not thinking clearly.
He is in full on excuse mode at the moment. The results have turned on him, the pundits have turned on him, the fans have turned on him, the players are next….then the board.Trust the process…

I can't listen to a word he says any more, and haven't watched a press conference of his for weeks.
    What's the point ?
He routinely lies, changes his story ... and when he isn't doing that he just talks a load of sh*t.
I have far better things to do with my time.
It beggars belief that BlueCo could be happy with what he is serving up for us.

What else do you think he meant when he blamed 'the environment' ? The weather conditions, air pollution on the Fulham Road, stratospheric warming in the upper atmosphere ? Of course he meant the fans.
What he doesn't seem capable of realising or accepting is the fact the growing disenchantment and anger is not so much aimed at the players on the pitch, but at him for his appalling tactics and team selections. He is way out of his depth but won't accept it, instead he blames the fans. That's never going to end well. In his defence I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the idiots who recruited and appointed him but of course they will never be held accountable.

But the whole analysis, whilst somewhat accurate, failed to introduce an important piece of context that @RMH referenced in his post. Sanchez had already had one brain fart thus unsettling the back line and the fans. Whilst this sterile, gutless and impotent style of football is being foisted onto us by this crap manager, we're not all complete luddites. We can also see the benefits of developing football moves from the back, but with this lot there is no pattern, just a bomb scare of a keeper and a group of technically mediocre defenders, so there will always be anxiety from the stands.

Who is stopping the fans being onside with the team? Maresca
Who is the key to whether or not the fans get behind the team? Maresca
Who is the worst manager we’ve had for a long long time? Maresca

It's so cowardly as well. We all know what he meant by environment, so just say it. Say it was the fans, and we'll tell you why we boo.
Your style of football is trash, nobody likes it. You're a massive bullsh*t artist and have been talking sh*te since day 1. You try and cover your mistakes with excuses, like saying Jackson was injured, when the rot started with Jackson in the team. Or how about when you said that Chalobah wasn't good enough for Chelsea and then came crawling back when need to cover for injuries? How about when you said Sanchez was number 1 on day 1, without even seeing him? Saying Chilwell wasn't good enough for your sh*tty system, but you insist on playing Gusto in that same system when he is a similar style of player to Chilwell. Saying Chukwuemeka wasn't ready yet, without properly accessing him and saying he needed to go out on loan? Why didn't you say anything about the January transfer market when we desperately needed to strengthen and allowed the club to weaken the squad by selling and loaning players out? Why did you change the way we play so drastically and settle on this miserable football when you were mixing it up so well in the first few months? How the f**k did you turn a group of young players who were in a good place to nothing but players who look afraid to play football?
This is why the fans boo, you've done this to yourself.

Isn't it about time that we started making our feelings clear about Maresca during games. OK, it doesn't help the team but this joke of a coach should be aware that he should go.

Guehi would be classed as an experienced player at this stage, and his price would reflect that.
I'd like to see Santos brought back to the squad, but I don't think we can rely on Lavia (or Fofana for that matter) at this point.

It's the fans fault that the team playing such slow it around at the back between defenders for minutes at a time. The fans fault he plays his dream striker who he wants to clone, who hasn't scored a goal in 2025 and is the worst player I have seen play for us in over 30 yrs. The fans fault that he plays the worst keeper in the premier league.

So, the idea of his inverted fullbacks, is to give the wingers more 1-on-1s out wide, and to provide more bodies in the middle, yeah?
But it doesn't happen like that. The wingers never get 1-on-1s, because defenders double up. Watch any of our games and Madueke, Neto, Sancho, whoever, when they have the ball out wide, have 2 or 3 defenders to beat, not 1. So it ends up coming back inside again, where players like Gusto and Cucurella are also being misused, because they are not CMs, and pretending they can be, when someone like Gusto can barely pass the ball, is idiotic. Whereas if they were supporting the winger and offering overlapping runs, we might actually beat someone out wide instead.
Everything is just overly complicated for no reason other than trying to be a hipster cool manager who doesn't stick to the norm.

Season is pretty much over now. No way on earth we take more points than Newcastle, City, Villa, and Forest.
Season filled with terrible results and terrible performances.
Don't even blame Maresca, he was never good enough. Blame has to lie on the board who appointed these sporting directors, and set this "philosophy".
Can't see Maresca staying, fans have turned.

Maresca is out of his depth. He's one dimensional, and doesn't help himself by not playing to the strengths of the players he has.
To top it all off, he implicitly and explicitly allowed mediocrity to settle in the squad. Implicitly by persisting with the underperforming players week in week out, and explicitly by straight up coming out and saying that finishing top 4 and competing aren't part of his objectives.
As bad as all of this sounds... Who the hell are the muppets who put him in charge going to bring in instead? Most likely another low tier manager no one has ever heard of.
I wouldn't want the club to sign or sack anyone, players or managers, until they decide to change course.
I'm honestly glad we didn't sign a striker, because I know we would have gotten some 19 year old no one had ever heard of. They did just that for midfield, and would have done the same for CB.
Do a 180 on the failed project, or just stick to what you already have. Trying to start again from scratch with an inexperienced manager and a new pack of teenagers is the definition of insanity.

I think that you’re wrong. Players are just not that good.
Sanchez and Jorgensen - the one wasn’t playing for Brighton and was bad last season too, and Jorgensen wasn’t ripping it up with Villareal in a completely different league.
Gusto and James - I give you Gusto, who’s been quite bad this season v last, but James is not underperforming when he plays, simply gets injured too often.
CBs - they haven’t regressed, Tosin was acquired on a free from Fulham, Fofana broken, Disasi and Badiashille are just sh*t. Chalobah has his up and downs as always and Colwill hasn’t shown much last nor this season in Chelsea blue.
Cucurella is having a very decent season, probably the best of our bad bunch of defenders, his only down side is that he’s been played as an arriving CF and he’s no goal scoring machine.
Enzo was sh*t last season as this, he hasn’t regressed really. His only good game for us was his first game against Liverpool, he was superb there. Going down the hill since then.
Caicedo overworked, yes, but not worse than last season.
Wingers are what was expected. Neto wasn’t a scoring machine at Wolves, who played counterattacking system, and he’s isn’t doing much worse for us. Samcho is living off his first stint at Dortmund and has been regressing ever since. Madueke is very inconsistent but not worse than last season.
Nkunku hasn’t shown much for us to say that we’ve ruined him. Surely we can say that he’s been mistreated but he just jogs around and puts no effort. He’s coming from Bundesliga where Werner was also fired up.
Jackson is and will never be a world class CF. He’s improved a bit but not much imo.

He is blatantly not good enough but lets be under no illusions. Whoever they bring in next after he's sacked won't be good enough either so whats the point? Maresca, McKenna and Frank was the options in the summer remember.
We can forget about Ancelotti, Conte, Inzaghi or anyone else thats hellbent on winning because thats not what this club is about anymore. They are attempting to build a player-trading operation (shame for them they suck at that too) which is why they sack everyone who gives them some harsh truths (Tuchel, Pochettino, Bath etc). In addition to the PTO they are simultaneously asset stripping the clubs and putting said assets into continuation funds over at Clearlake for perpetual trading and profit for themselves while they don't give two sh*ts about team performance other than forcing the likes of Enzo Fernandez down the managers throat to protect their stupid investment.
If we aren't already we'll be a shell of a football club in two-three years. Just like most other companies that private equity guys gets their greasy hands on.

Enzo says we controlled the game but we're hindered with no number 9.
    Our last 6 away games.
    0-0 D to Everton
    2-0 L to Ipswich
    1-1 D to Palace
    3-1 L to Man City
    2-1 L to Brighton
    3-0 L to Brighton
Just eff off with the excuses. I would rather lose by trying something different than trying to win with the same boring system that hasn't worked even with a number 9. I really hate football now. The money spent doesn't justify the output at our club and that really sickens me.

I’m not sure the players believe in his tactics anymore. They seemed to give up on the game soon as they scored their first goal. Then it was just a matter of how many Brighton would score. Players looked dejected most of the second half. A half decent manager wouldn’t allow such a situation to develop. Worse, he seemed clueless to turn things around. Once players sense the manager doesn’t know what he’s doing, then it’s game up usually.

Can't see a reason to get rid of Maresca. If anyone goes it should be the clowns in charge of the transfers.
