We scored 73 goals in 14-15, the season where Mou famously called out the ever-lack of atmosphere at Stamford Hut.
We created 73 xG this season and suffered a ~9 goal under performance.
This is due to having Cole Palmer and nothing else as opposed to peak performing Costa / Hazard / Fabregas + Oscar & Ramires & Willian as attacking depth.
Maresca would have actually created far more with that at his disposal considering he essentially matched the creative output with vastly inferior attacking talent at his disposal.


We were second for big chances created in the entire league, and second for shots.
A lot of you are quite literally trapped in a matrix where you've been forced to believe that control = boring = negative when this past season was not only our most consistently attacking but also defensively limiting football since peak Tuchel and with the youngest squad in EPL history.

When the goals stopped coming reliably Maresca flipped how we approached games and 1-0'd us in the UCL without having to revert to petty tricks like that amateur Pochettino building his entire set-up around a no skilled dog like Gallagher and constantly subbing out attackers for defenders to attempt hold on for leads at the 75' mark because his understanding of the game was that defenders on the pitch = more defensive solidity as opposed to the genius savant Maresca who superiorly understood that CONTROL = suffocation and tactical submission for the opponent.
It's just humiliating attempting to even defend the atmosphere at SB, historically a library. Zero chants, zero culture, zero songs besides the classic CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA or "we hate totnum"

But it's easier to blame a first year manager and groan at your own players because it's feigns the appearance of standard when it actually reveals a lack of class and culture within the club.
But you're going to learn to love Maresca because he's Clearlake's guy and he isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

He needs to find his confidence. He missed a few sitters last year when in blue and could see the confidence drain out of him. no questions on effort, looks like he has ingredients to be a good striker. Just hope he finds the net early on and builds on momentum. Sink or swim for him at this level. Best of luck, might have just got my fantasy football sub striker.

Not sure what the issue is... Was a fan of Mount, injuries have let him down badly. Imagine the work rate in midfield if both he and gallagher were still at the club. I suspect we'd lock most midfields down. Both super industrious players and Mount most definitely has an eye for a pass.
Is Chaolbah a good defender... yes... he is, you dont play for England if your not good enough. You dont get called back from being booted out of a club if your not better than the crop of players on the books.
We got top four... he was instrumental to that when in the side. Saliba is good top four defender and an international like our own Mr Chalobah. Not bigging him up as the next big thing but hes entering his prime in the next couple of seasons and we look solid with him in the back line. Be happy we might have a settled defence this season because he'll be part of it if not sold to balance the books.

We have Santos and Essugo now as backups also, I would not sell Lavia. There is no way we recoup anything close to what we paid for him. Caicedo and Enzo are our starters so hopefully Lavias minutes can be better managed and he focuses on building up his durability with the physios. He should be running up and down the stairs nonstop to strengthen his skeletal muscles.
Also Brighton would easily want £100m for Baleba. I think Lavia and him are born on the same day, same year. No point on getting Baleba who is the least talented of the two. Just build up Lavia’s durability and we have a supreme midfielder for the next 10+ years.
We have a strong midfield core that can take us through the next 10 years.

Agreed let's not forget Fab gave Hato an 80% estimation of happening and it's gone through. Simons raising from 70 to 75% is good news. Not sure why we need 9 attackers but assuming the system will be either 4231 or 433 it does make sense we would need a min of 8 for the former (2 players in each attacking position) I suppose the 9th is there for cover if we get any major injuries.
I like Simons and if Gittens or Estevao struggle to adapt in their first season it would be helpful to have a slightly older attacker that you would hope could offer more reliability. He could also hypothetically struggle to adapt, but he does look a quality player based purely what I've seen.
Garnacho in my opinion is still a very raw talent but talented nonetheless. I don't see him becoming a superstar here if anything I would imagine he would be flipped and turned into a profit within a few years after showing glimpses. I could be wrong and he could be a revelation. I just wouldn't want him to take mins away from our Brazilian superstar.

Simons' workrate is incredible.

Deceptively strong, low COG (rides challenges), elite progressive attacker via the pass or the carry, feisty, willing to engage in duels, smart counter-presser, intense OOP.
Simons is also a right footed pocket player which would balance nicely with the left footed Cole Palmer in the opposite half-space and Simons is a habitual xG cheater, which we've been crying out for.


The only player appearing twice (pass threat and dribbling threat), apart from Cherki, is Xavi Simons. This is a potential marquee signing.

I'd reckon Simons is more or less done actually, just sorting out sales in the process before the transfer is finalised.

The main thing that gives me confidence about Simons is the fact that Ali Barat is the one leveraging the transfer, which means it's not just media fluff. He brokered the Lukaku to Napoli deal, the Caicedo transfer with Brighton, The Madueke to Arsenal sale

Strasbourg's front 3 now looks really promising. Emegha with Bakwa and Paez as the inside forwards interchanging.

Even when Fofana was fit, he wasn't doing anything impressive. His game has always been full of errors. He's too reckless.

Fofana has done absolutely nothing in his career to date to put him ahead of Tosin or Chalobah. At this point, I am convinced that people rate the idea of Fofana rather than the player himself.
He's played a total of 116 senior games at the age of 24. And seeing as a regular football season is at least 40 games, that is less than 3 full seasons of senior football.

To get a player of this ability for that price without even taking into account his potential is absolutely astounding business.
