he's a very good player already at 18 years of age. Certainly would be one to keep tabs on. Man City has a 40 million pound buy back clause. 

Can see why City were reluctant to let him go. He bossed that game against us. Can't believe he is only 18.

I wonder if we will revisit him in January? 

City have Rodri and Phillips so I can't see them matching our bid, given they now have a firm eye on them after the UEFA FFP scandal 2 years ago. Their goal is to now balance the books moving forward.

Think we should. Obviously, City would be reluctant to waive their buy-back. If they can be persuaded to waive their option, I guess they would want to attach a buy-back with his CFC contract, while we would prefer to settle it by paying them a fee. Room for negotiation maybe.

P.S. I also like the other development player Southampton took from City during the last window, Juan Larios.

Apparently Joe Shields, who we recruited, or are about to recruit depending on how you look at it, is a big admirer of Romeo and made his signing a priority when he first joined Saints.

Seems now he is the one the transfer committee at the club believe can be a cornerstone of our midfield rebuild, and are in talks with both Saints and City about this deal as City have a buyback clause and we obviously won't give them one to sign him from Saints. Considered a priority signing.

I am a little surprised that with all of the moves we have been making for midfielders that we have not goneback in with a firmer bid for Lavia. I would have gone for that Bella-Kotcha as well tbh.

Won't that be too many with Benoit, Thiago (that will extend his contract). Trevoh, Kalidou, Fofana, if needed Dave and Marc (although I don't want to see the laat 2 on that position)? 

And next year potentially Colwill that will return. 

Or you planning on selling some this window as well? Then it would make more sense to me.

We 100% don't need anymore defenders. We need to sell one and Azpi will leave on top. 

We need 1 CM and probably 1 GK.

Yes this would be if Thiago doesn't sign on again. I still have concerns whether Fofana will have a sustained injury free period of time. Hopefully so but I am not advocating Bella Kotcha for now. Its Lavia that I thought we might go for in this window

I think we tried but he decided to stay at Southampton until the summer. Reports out there that Potter had a conversation with him and that Lavia came away very impressed.

do whatever we can to get him signed, looks a great player. If southampton get relegated as well, he'd be even cheaper

Along with finding an alternative for Potter, tapping this guy up should be the next thing on our agenda.

I don't think we should be looking at anybody just because they played well against us. It's hard to tell how good they really are.

I like his profile as a player and been pretty vocal in wanting him for a while. Not just this game in particular.

I think he’s good but also agree with you. Kovacic was completely absent yesterday and Enzo isn’t quite being played in his best position yet. Think Lavia could do well here but that’s more based on his overall potential rather than what he did yesterday.
