Thats a very bold statement, we will as has been said need a lot of luck. I have seen us play average this season in games so am trying not to get carried away. Although i do feel the team has potential to get better and better the longer they play and work under Scolari so i would'nt count it out. I just want the league title and dont care if we lose along the way. Look at the point TomP just made about our home record(which we all love and want to never end) but the fact of the matter is, if we'd lost to Spurs or Man U and won the other game we'd be 1 point better off. Records are great if they can be achieved while reaching your goals, but if they get in the way they become a problem and we must'nt let that happen. Nobody is really going to care if you go undefeated and finish 3rd. It is of course possible to go undefeated and get relegated (highly unlikely). Win the league first and worry about records after.

We dont beat teams like Villa because of money, we beat them because we have a better team. I know that seems like a stupid thing to say. We of course never get talked about in those terms, even the money Roman spent when buying the club gets added to the 'grand total' when our spending is mentioned. And they never of course mention anything recouped in player sales. What Claridge said about Spurs spending £77m and sitting bottom was true. It does'nt matter how much they got for Keane/Berbatov because at the end of the day they have £77m worth of new talent, players somebody at the club thought were worth buying and where has it got them, bottom? Even Fergie when refering to Europes biggest spenders this summer Man City stated that money does'nt buy success. Money does'nt even buy a team, it only buy players and that does'nt garuntee anything.(Its an opinion i share, but one that he kept to hinself when we were spending big) There are numerous examples of this over the years at clubs all over the country for it not to be the case. As somebody else mentioned Villa were one of the biggest spenders in Europe this summer, they have their own billionaire chairman who is spending big and they came to the Bridge to play a Chelsea team missing several first team players sitting third themselves and brimming with confidence. They were duely sent back to Birmangham with their tails between their legs having been soundly beaten. They were beaten by an excellent performance from an under strength team, they were beaten by 11 men and our manager and his tactics/motivation etc. They were not beaten by Romans wallet.

Scholes gets away with murder, he could have been sent off for perssistant fouling in the first 20mins against us. It annoys me too how commentaters just laugh when he hacks someone down at waste height. He's been doing it for years now. Someplayers have got away with miss-timed tackles being called a forwards challange and rightly so. Then you hear Fergie slaughter Kevin Davies saying he's the dirtiest player in the league for making 'forwards' tackles. Davies does put it about and nows what he's doing, you cant make that many bad tackles in a season to write them all of as miss-timed. Scholes though is the exact same and nobody says a word.

Anyone see sky the weekend, 'ld big nose was giving us some sh*te. He cant stand every season apparently how we say we are going to win all 4 trophies. He hates it that we are the only club to announce this and thinks we should shut up. Later on he announced through gritted teeth that he was doing our game and, tongue in cheek how much he loves us. The fact that we were supurb was of course over looked and every report from the Brittania 'alla phil' was started with how Stoke were 'giving it a go'. The mans a joke. We have never said we are going to win all 4 trophies, only that we are in 4 competitions and that we'd like to win them all. Wants wrong with that. The fact that we dont prioritise trophies or belittle competitions i would have thought was something to be applauded. Liverpool on the over hand are normally out of most competitions come March, except for waiting for the CL to restart and the fight for 4th place so they normally have no option but to put all their eggs into 1 basket . We dont say we are going to win anything, just that we are going to try. This is not arrogance, i'd call it more proffesionalism. Who enters a competition they dont want to win, fans turn up and pay good money to watch these matches so is Thommo saying Liverpool dont care or are'nt trying? I think whats more the case is he realises that times have changed, Liverfool might win something but then again they might not. Rafa wont commit on anything, he's banned talk of winning the league at Anfield. Just thought i'd mention it (again) but how good has Lampard been again this season. All the off field shennanigans have past and Frank has continued in the same old mode. I was very sceptical when Claudio spent at the time an awful lot of money on a young Lampard and heard the crows from West Ham fans about how we'd paid for their ground in return for a lemon. Frank came in and in those early days,outside the 'comfort zone' of West Ham(father/uncle etc) and into a whole new world at Chelsea in terms of squad quality, expectancee and the pressure of a big money transfer he struggled. Played out of position more often than not, and as i say struggling to adapt/settle into his new surroundings who'd have thought back then he'd go on to become the outstanding player he is today. The first time i remember seeing young Frank for the player he is was in fact during a defeat. It was against the gunners in the FA Cup final in Cardiff when playing centre midfield i thought he bossed supposedly at the time the best midfielder in the world Arsenal's Veira. Since that day Frank has gone on to become a midfield player so valuable it has seen him become one of the most sort after players of his generation. Frank has 5 goals already this season from midfield, a total that Gerrard for one would consider a good return on the season. Midfielders who score 20 a season are few and far between. I remember Scholes doing it once and him being hailed as some kind of phenomenom. Lampard does it regularly. Its outstanding, but its not only goals that he contributes but assists,defending ,his work rate is second to none and he is getting better too. He is maturing into the type of player who could not only come second to world player of the year but win it. It staggers me that Lampard bashing as become some kind of sideline for fans accross the country. Probably founded by the morons at Uptton Park to proud to admitt that nepotism had nothing to do with Frank jnrs rise to fame. He has blossomed into the sort of player who would walk into any team. Hence some of the best managers in the world in charge of the best teams in the world wanting his services. Name another England player you could say that about? In American sports, reputation counts for alot, but being the statt mad country they are it also counts for very little. MVP is the equivilant of player of the year but its statiscally more reliable in terms of determining who has in fact been the best player. No sentiment involved,no personal opinions or voting required just a crunching of the data. Frank Lampard is, and has been for many years now the Prems MVP.

The way Rooney tried to get J Cole booked after a reckless challenge was a disgrace yet A Cole kept him on the pitch moments later after a similiar challange and nothing is said. You have to console yourself with the fact that no matter what they achieve they are only prepairing for their real assignment. To win something with a proper club renowned throughout Europe as a success rather then a joke outfit who's favourite players are then demonised for showing any signs of dedication or application. Now of course they can move away from those horrible rumourse that have dogged the club throughout its history with regards to peodophillicy and homosexual practicsies within the so-called accademy? Something the youth team has been able to avoid fortunately but the first team has been unable to avoid. Various rumours about homosexuality within the West Ham dressing room have alway surrounded the club but perhaps in this day and age its time for Wesy Ham to be the first team 'out of the closset'.... who knows.

It looked like the old flag to me, "only a pound now urry up" handing it out as well. Whether this was the new 'pc' fire safe version that was promissed or indeed 'the flag' i'm not sure. I also noticed the other flags being passed around various areas of the ground and enjoyed this very much. I'm not sure if certain inn-house rules have been relaxed(lets hope so) becuase independent banners/flags have been banned in the past. This has given to an un-imaginative and uniform feel to the stands and in turn response from the crowd, albeit inforsed. I too remember the Wolves game and was there, its not then though that the song particularly springs to mind. For me it was Sheffield Wednesday away, which may well have been in the next round. I'm thinking now about the '94 cup run though not '97.(may be wrong but i'm sure we played Wolves in both, in fact i'm certain we did and was at both games) I may be mistaken though. I'm sure Wednesday away was in '94 when the Mancs beat us in the final. It was the Kerry Dixon semi at Wembley against Luton when having spoken about it to him since, and having been there myself to witness it was a fantastic homage from the fans to a Chelsea legend in one of his final outings. Something as a fan i know he deserverd and as a player and person i know he appreciated. I think there was about 60,000 at Wembley that day at least 40,000 were Chelsea. (where were we when we were sh*t ah?) Kerry having been subbed walked past the 'home' end(either or) to the changing rooms to the sort of ovation that makes a grown man cry(not my words). My hairs stand on end thinking about it now yet i was one of the masses actually 'giving praise'.(class/quality) I'll never forget that midweek game in Sheffield, yes it was probably a Wednesday. I was in the home end with a few Chelsea but near the away end(withing diving distance which was nice). I honestly sitting here now could'nt tell you the final score,(feel pretty sure we scored 4 for some reason but may be thinking of another visit to Hillsborough) i remember it more for the fans and the feeling than the result and the football. The away end was packed, we were going through and the chorus of 'blue flag' was rocking Hillsborough to its core. I was probably about 17/18 at the time, surrounded by surely old yorkshireman pointing and cursing at the away fans and their jubilation. I joined in without fear of thought. 'Carefree'. Shouted until i could'nt get any louder and if anybody did'nt like it then its their problem. Unfortunatly the passion and emotion pouring out into those words hav'nt been heard over Chelsea for a long time. I too would love to hear us sing that song with the same passion and meaning as it was first sung. I've watched players like Frank Labeouf and Mark Hughes sit on the half wayline at Wembley in complete shock and ore at Chelsea fans reaction to winning the FA cup. At hearing that song.( A player in Hughes who had already won the cup 4 times and played and won trophies all over Europe for some of its biggest clubs) It seems though now something has been lost in translation with regards to what it means to us. 'Stick the blue flag up your arse' was a song that showed jealousey for our journey, our rise from near extintion to safety and ultimutley our rise to glory. I hear people half singing blue flag under their breath, not standing on seats and bounding it out at the top of their voices like people should, like people have in far more 'difficult and intimedating circumstances'. Like people who cant afford to get into Stamford Bridge regularly would given the chance. Next time your at a game, dont look at the bloke next to you trying to start a song like he's some kind of idiot. Dont think about who's looking at you('cos lets be fair, who the fcuks thinking about you?).Think about all the people outside, who'd like to be there who are thinking about what an idiot you are for paying all that money to do 'fcuk all' about it in term of support. If you cant think about Chelsea, then think about being somewhere else, think about playing with the traffic on the way home. Think about Arsenal. Just fcuk off.

I thought he was a little harsh on the players but he probably knew the media would be crowing about us and wanting to keep their feet on the ground for the big game the weekend is good management. As the players get to know one another and what the manager wants more and more you'd like to think they are going to get better and better as the season progresses, which is encouraging. I too worry about over playing alla Arsenal, and trying to pass through a team thats 'parked the bus' can be difficult. Drogba's return should offer us another option though with his physical presence and aireal ability in these circumstances. At the moment though its so far so good albeit with tougher tests to come, starting with this weekend. The pressure is on them after their dodgy start knowing a defeat at the bridge could leave them with a mounting to climb after what 5 games. I would'nt be suprised if they 'parked the bus' and tried to not lose the game, looking to hit us on the break. I feel more confident that Scolari would be aware of this danger though, hence his 'sloppy in possession' remarks made on tuesday.

With them missing vidic it might be tempting to throw Drogba in against them,not sure if he will change too much though after the last couple of results. It would be a bit unfair on the players who are doing well at the moment. Drogba should feature st some stage though if only to improve his fitness, same probably for Ballack. It all really depends on the way the game pans out. I would stick with the team thats played well in the last 2 games with the option of throwing Drogba on later if we need to, or both if we are coasting and want to give them a run out.(hopefully the latter)

Agree Zola does'nt affect us, but torn between wanting him to do well and West Ham to fail. Sorry Franco the latter wins. I think it was a bad move for Zola, and Clark if he goes. The fans dont really want them and the club seems to be struggling off the pitch financially.

I'd almost forgot the season had started and we were top of the league. We cant deny its been a bad couple of weeks off the pitch. Robinho?? Essien out for almost the season and now Zola goes to West Ham and takes Clarkey with him. I bet Scolari cant wait to get back to the small matter of playing football matches. They should close the transfer window before the start of the season and the less said of international breaks(or the timing of them) the better.

I dont think Robinho's motivation was $$$$ did'nt Madrid offer to match his salery???? I think he was obviously anoyed with Madrids persuit of Ronaldo and felt undervalued(ah bless him). Madrid not wanting to sell obviously wanted the best price. I'm sure if we had matched city Robinho would have chosen us but rightly or wrongly we did'nt. I just feel this whole deal should have been completed long before transfer deadline day, one way or another.
