World Cup Standouts
I think he's already proved it. He certainly was dominant today.

Roman: take out the check book, call Udinese and buy Alexis Sanchez. Hopefully the other big clubs didn't watch this game.

The iPad, what the hell is the point?
For me, no. Mine has never left my apartment yet. You all are among a very select few people who even know I have one and most of you live in a different country. I'd say five people have actually seen my iPad in almost two months.

World Cup 2010 - Match day 5
I don't think the pundits are giving enough credit to what I think has been excellent defensive play. That was certainly the story of the Ivory Coast-Portugal game, the Brazil-North Korea game today alone. While the finishing has been pretty bad all around, the matches today didn't seem to have the same ball related issues that some of the earlier ones did. Today it was just players getting in shooting and passing lanes to break down attacks.

World Cup 2010 - Match day 5
That's why I think they are a good bet to win it. Dunga doesn't care about the style the Brazilians want to see, he just wants to win. And he has chosen a group of players that will carry out his instructions. I think the Brazil-North Korea game will be like the others. An early Brazilian goal then two sides content to play the match out. 2-0 to Brazil.

Of course will any of the Portugese Chelsea players be on the squad in a month? Nice to see Carvalho back in good health.

The iPad, what the hell is the point?
I agree 100%. Which is why when I bought a PC I bought a refurbished model with no pre-installed OS for something like $250. My previous PC was completely built by me. Buying an Apple computer, while intriguing, never made sense because they are so much more expensive. But this is about the iPad. There really isn't a PC equivalent. The closest thing you can compare it to is a net book but the two devices provide vastly different experiences. Even if the net book is cheaper and more powerful, the iPad is still better. I doubt seriously that something like the HP Slate will compare favorably either.

The iPad, what the hell is the point?
In the US mine cost $500 not £500 so it was a lot cheaper. I agree totally it is a luxury and in no way a necessity. I disagree that everything the iPad does has been done better.surenwatching a DVD on my big TV with surround sound would be better but I don't even use my desktop or laptop anymore to go on the Internet. I don't feel manipulated at all. I got an iPhone after waiting a long time (1.5 years after they came out) and it is unquestionably the best piece of technology I've ever owned. In hindsight, i would have bought it the day it was released. The iPad is an extension of the iPhone for me, basically an iPhone for me to use at home. I also just looked up pricing. In the UK the bottom model costs £429 which cost me $500 in the states. £429 = $632 right now, so it's about £90 cheaper here in America.

The iPad, what the hell is the point?
It isn't what it does but how it does it. You can buy a netbook with more computing power for much cheaper. However it just isn't the same to use. I've used laptops and, when I'm trying to watch TV and surf the Internet at the same time they can be cumbersome. Cumbersome is the last adjective I'd ever use for the iPad. Now if you need a laptop for business purposes, word processing, spreadsheets, etc. then the iPad isn't for you. If you want to hang out and surf the Internet, watch some video, use some cool apps then it is. Maybe the best way I can describe it is you can have a Ford with more horsepower, a bigger engine, etc. But the BMW will still be more fun to drive. Both cars will do the same thing but you will have more fun driving the BMW. I love apple products but I'm hardly a fan boy. I don't have an apple desktop or laptop because they are too expensive.

The vuvuzela must be banned
From what I understand, ESPN in the US actually has tried and succeeded to an extent to reduce vuvuzela noise but it's still all that you can hear. I thought I was used to it as I said above. But I'm watching Greece-South Korea on my DVR because I missed most of that match and the noise is getting to me.

England vs USA
I think that is a little harsh. Clearly the US were happy with the result but had a few good chances. Altidore alone had two chances he should have buried. This game was the way Bob Bradley likes to play. Against good teams, the US will only create 5-6 scoring chances. I don't think they were overly negative or defensive though.

The vuvuzela must be banned
I'm used to it. Got the surround sound cranked up and I don't care. It does bother me if it is impacting the quality of play on the field though. Apparently players can't communicate so that is a bit of a problem.

World Cup 2010 - Match day 3
Germany look fantastic. Able to maintain possession, pass the ball effectively and actually create scoring chances. Every other team so far was only really able to get a lot of scoring chances on a counter attack. Podolski and Klose are up to their usual world cup tricks plus Ozil, Mueller, Lahm, etc are all playing very well. I do think Australia are a very weak side in fairness.

England vs USA
Quite happy with the point from an American perspective. Wasn't particullary impressed with England. Thought they did a great job shutting down Ashley Cole, who I thought would give us fits all match. Obvioulsy goalkeeping is their weakness and it showed today. Tim Howard was the difference between the two aides today. Capello is a quality coach though so I'm sure he will make the necessary adjustments. This group is wide open now. You like to think both England and the US can win their remaining matches, although these tend to be the sort of games that give the Americans a very hard time.

England vs USA
Everyone in America seems to blame Obama for it for whatever reason. We gotta add a little spice somehow. The Liverpool scum were burning the US flag the other day you know.

As a lifelong New York Mets fans, I couldn't agree with you guys more. That's why I take offense to the term.

The iPad, what the hell is the point?
I'm posting this on my iPad and lying in bed right now. I love it. I'll explain why. I spend quite a bit of time on the couch watching sports. American sports can get a bit boring from time to time. My computer is all the way across the room so, call me lazy, I did a lot of web surfing on my iPhone. The iPhone is great but it isn't great for surfing the web from home on but the iPad is. Add in a couple of other factors (iPhone battery life is lacking these days so Im trying to use it less, laptop is old and needing replacement, had some extra money) and I decided to buy one. Sure it is a luxury item but I don't regret it for a second. Plus it only cost me $500 not £500.

England vs USA
I can deal with rooting against Ashely Cole. I like Joe Cole, but I can deal and he isn't even on Chelsea any more. I even think I can root against John Terry because, while I love him on Chelsea, I can understand why someone might not be terribly fond of him. But I have no idea how I can root against Frank Lampard. In fact I just can't do it. I'll be happy if I can hold off on singing Super Frank if he were to score. Oh well, it's only one day. I'll do my best. At least I get the pleasure of rooting against Gerrard and Rooney :)

Cole and Ballack
I agree with it as well. I can understand why you let Cole go because he doesn't really seem worth the money he wants. However if Ballack were willing to accept a reduced salary and a part-time role, which by all indications he was, I don't understand why you don't keep him for a year or two. I'd have to imagine tree is a big time midfielder coming into the squad.

who will be englands leading goalscorer & how many
I hope not. OG's development will only mean trouble for Chelsea. If OG could have found the net a few more times last season, Chelsea may not have won the league.

The World Cup and the Chelsea Curse
I hope Drogba can play too. I can't imagine how much this means to him.

The World Cup and the Chelsea Curse
I'm torn by these injuries. Part of me is glad. None of them seem very serious nor likely to bleed over into the season. The last thing I'd want is for our players to get seriously hurt at the Cup. It may also be beneficial to get rest after a long season. At the same time I'd have love to have watched them play at the World Cup. A lot of these players feel like members of the family so to see their dreams crushed sucks.

Ferdinand misses world cup
From an American perspective I'm actually disappointed that Rio is hurt. I was hoping he would be in the lineup next Saturday. King is better and, considering current form, I think Dawson is as well.

Next World Cup Winners
I'll go out on a limb and say Brazil or Spain. That is my final at the moment, not sure who the winner would be. Spain is clearly the best team at the cup. This brazil team isn't as talented as some of their sides have been through history but I like Dunga and think he will do what is necessary to get a result and not be put off by what thee Brazilian fans and media want. I think Argentina is interesting. I'm not the biggest Maradona fan but I think his negative impact as a coach is being overstated. Germany always seem to do well, even if they aren't highly thought of going into a tournament.
