BigIzz Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Roman: take out the check book, call Udinese and buy Alexis Sanchez. Hopefully the other big clubs didn't watch this game.
TheWestwayWonder Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I dont wanna jinx em, but cmon Switzerland!!!!
Mikstaw Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 What a match!! Spain attacks was great in last three minutes. Their style of playing was superb, but they lost!
coco Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Its looking like Spain will face Brazil in the last 16.
Mikstaw Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 It would be fantastic match! But let's wait for other matches...
coco Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 The situation could be that when Portugal play Brazil 25 June- final match in the group, the winner could end up playing Spain in the next round, whilst the loser would play either Switzerland or Chile.
Randy36 Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Got to hand it to the Swiss and their manager Hitzfeld. They played excellent defensive football and utilised the counter to their advantage. I don't understand why Spain played two defensive midfielders, Alonso and Busquets and left Fabregas on the bench. Despite today's result I still believe Spain will make it out of this group.
loz Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 It was a great strike by Forlan however I think the deflection is what ultimately beat the keeper. Having said that Forlan is solidifying his position as the best player of the tournament so far.
Randy36 Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Great win for Uruguay. Diego Forlan is proving to be the best player so far in the competition. Looking forward to the France/Mexico game tomorrow.
icecoolguy22 Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Well done to the Swiss. It's difficult to feel any sympathy for a Spanish team made up with Barca and Real players, not surprsing their manager blame opposition's tacticis after the loss. Forlan is all class, thankfully he's not coming back to EPL anytime soon.
The Machine Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 That was probably one of the best days of the world cup so far yesterday. I was really impressed by the performances Chile and Uruguay in their respective games. Congratulations also to Switzerland on a sensational win against the European Champions Spain. They were brilliant and should have won 2-0.
Arq Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Yesterday was a great match day imho. Chile looked solid and got a well deserved win. The shocker of the day was obviously the Swiss victory over Spain. Did they deserve it? Absolutely. What a match played by the Swiss. Their defense is rock solid. Spain had the possession but never really had the threat. Uruguay looked great against, honestly, an average South African team. With that said, they did their job and look like a solid threat come the knockout stage. Forlan has looked brilliant. 2nd games are now upon us. For some teams, it's make or break time!
