  1. i was a bit more towards the middle and always stood on the ledge above the gangway that ran along the length of the Shed about half way up. I always made sure the crush barrier was behind my back after having been squashed against one my first time in the shed following a knees up mother brown surge. After that when the surge came down I would just step off onto the gangway and survive intact lol
  2. and their mob was generally older than our lads at the time
  3. Very much agree with you on the development of women's football and am pleased that your niece is doing so well at rugby here in sunny Sussex. I remember the silk version of the scarf which was popular at the Bridge when I was a teenager in the Shed. My friend knitted the one i am wearing in my picture as I lost my original one years ago and had not been able to locate another commercially. Having said that I was at the Newcastle game yesterday and walking out of the East Stand afterwards there was another Chelsea fan wearing one. We both had a good laugh and a bit of a reminisce about it lol.
  4. My 10 year old daughter who is a great defensive midfield player would love to one day play for Chelsea ladies. She plays for Hollingbury Hawks here in Brighton at the moment but one day maybe her dream will come true. So good to see just how much ladies football has developed in recent years.
  5. A rare treat for me as I live within walking distance of the Amex
  6. Because their were only a few of us in the ground when they came in and I was told later that our mob was still in the pubs
  7. Morning kick off that one. Had to hitch hike up from Chichester that day as no trains were running from the south-coast. Got to Victoria as the Chelsea fans were returning from the match to be told we got hammered in the game but we took the north bank. Next day we were home to West Ham and I got decked when they came up the stairs and poured into the Shed early on
  8. yep I know the scarf you mean
  9. Don't remember the seat but I do remember loads getting off the buses and chasing the Sousers down the road
  10. Yes this was the season we played Liverpool 4 times winning both at home and losing both the away games. Was in the Shed for both at the Bridge and at the league game away when the bus in front of ours got a brick through the window as we were ferried to the ground from the Station. I remember the press being full of headlines stating that Liverpool were coming to London for revenge when we played them at home in the league follow their 4-2 defeat in the fa cup, but of course we smashed them again. Great days that stay with us all our lives
  11. yes I remember it although I never had that one. I also had another version of the red/green white scarf but the bars were all the same width
  12. lol lost mine years ago also, but my friend just knitted this one. She has done a great job and I will deffo be wearing it to the Bridge in future although I guess the younger fans might be a little confused when I do
  13. what do you reckon guys
  14. Yes i was in the shed when they came in the day after we took Arsenals North bank one Christmas in the late 70 's. Our mob were still in the pubs as West Ham came in very early. We scattered as we were just ordinary fans and not fighters. Not sure that really constitutes taking our end as there was no one there to oppose them and there were nit nany people in the shed at the time
  15. Yes i rememberbeing being at the away game that December and we were singing o what fun it is to see Chelsea win away. Same game where one of the gates was kicked in a loads of Chelsea poured through and ran up and into our end before the police could stop them. i seem to recall the last guy in got walloped by a copper
  16. I agree, he needs time to evaluate the current situation and players. This is the way of good management skills when taking over any new project. Admittedly we are in a dreadful situation and need to climb the league right away but I am sure Gus will identify problems and make changes as required in a controlled and sensible way rather then making a large number of changes all at the same time which could result in even more chaos and confusion among the team
  17. but i I think the tune is the old Orange flute a Protestant song in Ireland. The same tune was later used by the Dubliners and these are both on you tube. I remember being taught the last part of the Chelsea version from fellow Chelsea supporters in the Shed back in late 70's but I don't recall it ever being sung
  18. As far as the media are concerned, they like a villain to attack and in recent years this has been predominately Chelsea. Try an experiment until the end of the season by logging how many negative articles there are about Chelsea in comparison to positive ones. Today for example, there were 4 or 5 negative articles and no positives on the Mirror sports pages. This is a daily occurrence and not just in the papers but also during commentaries of matches on TV. A couple of days ago following the Liverpool game at the Bridge the BBC followed up on their website with a story titled- Did Chelsea deserve to win. I cannot think of a time when any of our rivals or any club for that matter have had similar headlines following a great victory. Another thing that concerns me is this so called retrospective action by the FA after a match is concluded. This allows all of the usual pundits to pontificate on a contentious issue and thereby put pressure on the FA who are flaky and impressionable in their rulings at the best of times. Actions need to be taken during a match and not afterwards and if a referee needs new technology such as camera playback etc to spot issues during a game then so be it. Rant over
  19. The fact is that the campaign against Chelsea is relentless both in the newspapers and also on TV. The papers in particular love to stir up hatred against our club. The media are complete scum in my opinion.
  20. Fight fight fight fight. I wonder if they will try and take the Shed again with about 20 hooligans lol
  21. I remember when I first moved to Brighton in 1981 there were a few bank holidays clashes between skin head mods etc
  22. I would agree it looks like Madeira Drive on the Seafront at kemptown
