Essien will have to change his game. He won't be able to run up and down for 90 mins like before his knee injuries or as Ramires does now. I think his best chance to get back to the first team is to master the Makelele role. He had already played as DM and did well there, the main argument against it was that it limits his game by taking out one of his mains assests, his marauding runs forward. However sadly this won't be the case anymore. Can we maybe get Maka back as a coach to help him out? And all the youngsters in that position while we're at it, that would be a dream addition to the coaching staff.

9-0 against Benfica in the CL group stages, Torres and Studge hattricks. The game's a bit unreal, for example Torres scored 45 goals so far in 43 matches, including 6 hattricks and a 4 goal match. Surreal. Also Studge has just scored 4 in the FA Cup Final against Fulham. But with 17 goals he's still behind Drogba who managed 33 mainly as a sub (19 starts and 21 substitue appearances). Lamps is already above 20 that goes without saying. Honourable mention to Luiz who is just behind Mata with 14 goals, though if I count his 2 own goals he just overtakes Juan :) I will probably restart the game after the next patch, as this one seems to have a little bug.

If you recall the matches when already played there it is clear that he was visibly uncomfortable in the position, even at RB. I'd say that the best possible move for Essien is to try and master the Makelele role. He already played at pure DM in the past and played there well. Back then this meant wasting his engine and marauding runs and limiting his natural play, but sadly this probably won't be the case anymore. Can we get Maka back as coach? :)

He may be on the right side, but he was still our most advanced attacker against Newcastle. Drogba played a bit deeper and with his back to the goal, winning long balls for him quite often. It's no coincidence that he had the most opportunities, so he shouldn't be too unhappy with his position.

I'd love to see that, he's a great prospect. And maybe Hutch will be able to get a game at the endish of the season, that would be huge. We also have two talented defenders on loan, Bruma and Kalas. I don't think we need Cahill, unless JT's back problems are getting worse (which doesn't seem to be the case).

I don't think we should let Alex go before the summer. It would mean either a forced buy, or riskink having only 3 CBs in the squad until next season when we will have the possibility to give the place to Bruma or Kalas and save the money.

It took Ricky 2 seasons to get fully accustomed to the PL. The old board was full of posts bashing his rash decision making, and making jokes on him being always on his arse. All the problems Luiz has are in his head and can be coached out of him, it just takes time. I believe he has to get one or two full seasons under his belt before we can see what he really can do. I say trust him, stick by playing him at CB and he will get better. This may be not much, but I was impressed that he survived the last two matches with very early yellows. Regarding pushing him up further, let's not forget that the man has started out as a midfielder and was so bad that he almost gave up professional football. Then he was moved to the defence and bang, a few years later he ended up at Chelsea.
