  1. Quite surprised that Schneiderlin is off to United to be honest given that they have Carrick and Blind already at DM. That said Carrick is 33 and might not have much longer left at United.
  2. Got to say I was quite disappointed with Jurassic World. I went to see it for the nostalgia, as a 5 year old I absolutely loved the first one as well as Dinosaurs on a general level too growing up. Overall I just thought the film was too similar to the others, too formulaic. I saw a review refer to it as a chaotic 'creature feature' which I thought was pretty accurate. Aside from a few cool and quirky nuances here and there the plot was essentially the same as before, with rubbish acting and no real character development at all. Of course the CGI is terrific, and the sounds in the Cinema were too, but this time I was expecting something a little more creative and considered. I also hated the subjugation of the Velociraptors as it's clear where the story of the future sequels are going to go.
  3. Wilshere, Ox and Walcott were all peripheral players last year during their run of winning 10-odd PL games in a row. Add them to a team/squad that's gelling and at a good average age, combined with the imminent arrival of Petr Cech, and they look like a real threat to me. The only thing they are really lacking any more is a top-class CF, thankfully there aren't any on the market, as well as another holding player. They are not far at all. I just hope that Wenger's tactical naivety and the players' mental block comes back to haunt them. On a side note - £12.5m for Clyne: Absolute bargain! Why so cheap? Always presumed he'd go to United, would expect them to enter the running now.
  4. Given that Begovic counts as homegrown he would be a brilliant backup GK. In terms of ability he's definitely in the top 5/6 in England. I cant see how he would want to be a backup, unless we let him play in both domestic cups? Other than Begovic I'm not sure who else there is. Rob Green is experienced and of an age where I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted one more decent contract. Obviously based in West London which helps. But in terms of ability I've never been convinced by him.
  5. I know mate, it's like they wear their cringeworthy-ness as some kind of badge of honour. Bizarre.
  6. I'm glad they haven't sacked Pellegrini. José has clearly got under his skin, and his lack of tactical nous will ruin City in the CL again. I don't think City will be as poor as they were last season at times but I see Arsenal as the closest challengers to us this season. City's squad needs a lot of work for me for the future whilst some of the key players, like Yaya Toure, look like they haven't got much left. Don't see them having much trouble finishing in the top 4 though.
  7. Are they running a poll on Twitter by any chance?
  8. No worries. About 20,000 of the people that go these days don't really give a t*ss anyway.
  9. Personally I think Ramos is vastly overrated and a hothead who is always liable to make rash decisions. Schweinsteiger used to be one of my favourite players but he is a mere shadow of what he used to be. At this point in his career I don't see him as much, if any, improvement over Carrick or Blind in the holding role. If United want to waste more of their cash on these two, be my guest. Lukaku - Very good finisher but that's about it. Yes, as a striker, that is the most important attribute. But if United want to be challenging for titles again then they need a complete, world class CF; for someone of his size Lukaku doesn't actually hold the play up very well and his touch is inconsistent at best. His fitness needs a lot of work too whilst he doesn't strike me as a very good teammate. I think United need a striker long-term but their best bet would be to stick with RVP, Rooney and James Wilson for this season. There should be more strikers available next year that I think could ultimately be good enough in all facets.
  10. As they will probably be our closest challengers next season, I like that we play Arsenal at home first and fairly early as well in September. 3 points in that one could be big in the long run.
  11. Overall, not too shabby a fixture list. I like how the bigger games tend to be spaced out across the season. A few concerns though. We have a lot of tricky away games in the first few months, games in which we've lost in the last few seasons. My other main gripe is that we have to go up to Old Trafford right in the middle of the Xmas period, I always thought that the games during this time of the year are supposed to be relatively nearby? That said I’ve wanted to go up to Old Trafford for a while and this would give me a great chance as my office is shut! In terms of the run-in, imagine if we could retain the title at home v Spurs in the third last game of the season? Would be brilliant. Some tricky away games to take care of in April and May.
  12. Originally I was very much against this deal, but having thought it through I'm kind of ok about it. Once Dybala and Icardi went off the market I couldn't see any other striker of good enough quality that would accept being a back up striker. Benteke and Higuain would surely want guaranteed first team football. So that really only left Falcao, Griezmann who is more of an AM or lastly Bamford who has no experience at all in the PL. If it's true that Falcao has taken a pay cut to £130,000 and there is no obligation to buy at the end of the season, AND Remy stays, then I'm ok with this. But if Remy is sold on and Falcao is our primary back up then I'll be very p*ssed off. Trusting Falcao as the main back up would be foolish, I doubt whether he can ever rediscover what he once was.
  13. I suggested a few months ago that the solution could be to dig down, to lower the foundations of the stadium in order to then expand upwards rather than sideways. I'm only speculating but this would seem like the most logical thing to do, there's no way we can expand sideways from what I can tell. I think the Bernabeu is built in a similar way, with their lower tier below ground level.
  14. It’s been well documented that KDB was unwilling to fight for his place in the team and demanded to be on the teamsheet every week. For a 20 year old kid to make those kinds of demands, a la Romelu Lukaku, stinks of a poor attitude to me. If you’re unwilling to fight then you have no chance at all under Jose. So the right call was made at the time, especially when you consider how many AM’s we had. That said, I’m a big fan of KDB’s talents. He’s one of the brightest prospects in Europe and will most probably be a top quality player in the long run. I’d love to still have him in the squad, he can play across any of the AM positions, is a good set piece taker with a great passing range and in future could even play deeper. He’d be a great asset for anyone. I think the move to Chelsea came too early for him, sadly. I think his ego got to him a little when he signed for us, I’m not sure he realised just how great a minefield the loan system can be for upcoming prospects on our books. In an ideal world, he would have either stayed on loan a little longer, matured a bit more and maybe then he’d have realised what it would take to make it here. Just wasn’t going to work out with us though unfortunately for various reasons, that’s the transfer market for you.
  15. Sadly there are some despicable people out there. By and large Twitter is a pretty good, though if I were a celebrity my opinion would probably be quite different. Seems as though some people have such sad lives that they get a kick out of being a c***.
  16. Think you need another CF too. RVP is on the decline, I think this could well be his last season at United. You'll need a GK once De Gea goes to Real too. All in all I don't really see United challenging for the title next year because there's still a lot of transfer work to do. I reckon you'll come 4th again and then challenge the season after.
  17. In fairness next season the League will probably be between us, them and City .
  18. Only read the last page or so, sorry, my bad.
  19. Only Suarez is a true no.9 though, Neymar and Messi are both AM's. I know Messi played ridiculously well as a 'false 9' but he's not a natural centre forward. The problem with playing with two up front is that Mourinho will only do so with a diamond in midfield. Currently we don't have good enough options in CM to play that system, Ramires and Mikel just aren't good enough to start consistently for us and RLC is an unknown at this point. And 2 up front also means Hazard plays the number 10 role, meaning Willian and Oscar quite possibly are relegated to the bench.
  20. One of the City lads was alrite, wouldn't mind him back.
  21. I would definitely have Tevez, again provided that he's happy to play a backup role. He's the kind of grafter that Mourinho would love to manage as well, I suspect. In fact, we could conceivably play with two up front in certain situations, with Tevez playing off Costa. The only really issue with Tevez is his age (31), so I don't see him being here for more than a year or two. That said, there aren't many young options at the moment on the market that are of the required quality, so perhaps it would be better to take a 'stop-gap' type like Tevez for the foreseeable.
  22. Ignoring sentimentality for a moment, one factor that hasn't been mentioned here is practicality. When Petr makes his decision, not only will he have to consider the move from a career perspective but also in terms of what it means for his family. He's got two kids both of whom obviously go to schools in London. Were he to move to Arsenal, they could probably carry on their lives as normal without having to uproot and move house etc. Petr would just have to drive that bit longer to get to training, I suppose. I certainly don't want him to join Arsenal, it's the last club that I would want to see him go to. But just wanted to point out that it's not only sentimentality and questions of loyalty that will inform Petr's ultimate decision.
  23. How about this scenario: We string Arsenal along all the way until the last day of the transfer window and then tell them 'no deal' and sell Cech to PSG or someone abroad, leaving Wenger with Szczesny and Ospina until January .
  24. I remember watching United play Arsenal a few weeks ago with Falcao up front. I know the United system doesn't suit his game at all but what was most striking to me was that he looked completely shot physically. It was as if his feet just wouldn't move as quickly as his brain. He looked, dare I say it, very Torres-esque.
  25. Initially I was completely against the idea of Falcao joining us. However, in recent days, Dybala and Icardi have gone off the market, which leaves Benteke and possibly also Higuain as the only other viable alternatives. Personally I’d like Benteke, but I reckon he would want guaranteed first-team football which he would not get with us. I’m not too sold on Higuain, I have my doubts as to whether he could hack the physicality of the PL. Bamford will obviously go out on loan, so that then leaves Falcao. IF he really is willing to take a significant paycut, and if the terms of the deal are a 1 year loan with no obligation to buy at the end of it, then perhaps it might be worth taking the risk. I guess only time will tell, I’m very doubtful.
