With the Petr Cech thread focused only on where Cech ends up. Starting this one to discuss the options/links to his replacements.

We have been linked to green, ruddy and bettinelli. I have to say that I am thoroughly underwhelmed by the names going around. Imagine having to field a team with rob green at barcelona or madrid away.

Does anyone else find these names underwhelming? especially looking at the number 2 keepers at other top clubs - Ter stegen (Barca), Navas (Madrid), Reina (Bayern), Valdes (United). We will end up going from the team with the best backup keeper to the one with the worst backup keeper. Needless to say it will be a huge step backwards.

I think Ruddy would be a good option but I don't think he would come just to play backup keeper epically now Norwich are back in the premier league

I agree that ship has probably sailed for a year.

Anyone actually seen Bertinelli? I have no idea if he's any good or not.

Ter Stegen is a weird one because he played all their Champions League matches didn't he? We have Courtois so can't do that. Plus I think Valdes has been promised a shot at the keeper's spot once De Gea leaves. It's hard to get top class keepers to spend their careers on the bench which is why I prefer older ones, like Green.

Not sure who else is out there.

Brad Guzan would be a good shout if we could get him. he's fallen behind given in the pecking order at villa, and if he's sat on their bench, he may as well be sat on ours. or get schwarzer back as he's number 2 at leicester

Rob Green would be very good back up keeper. He has an occasional howler in him but overall he has been solid for years, some of the performances he put in for QPR last season were brilliant.

I do not really understand what this fuss is about having home grown squad players is coming from. Its a totally pointless thing to worry about

We were fine with the HG quotas last season, and with Drog, Cech, Mikel and possibly Cuadrado leaving we have atleast 4 non-HG spots available. I think we should look for the best goalkeeper willing to sit on the bench regardless of HG status.

The dream would be to get Begovic or Forster, both are HG. Although, both are unlikely to accept being backup as it would hurt their chances of selection for the euro 2016. To be totally honest, I wouldnt mind szczeny as a backup either.

I had the misfortune of being invited to watch a few fulham games this season by a business assoc. Thankfully they lost all but one of the games I went to. Bettinelli is quite poor, his shot stopping is good but his decision making and positioning is soo poor that it was hilarious at times. He was lobbed atleast once in each game I saw, and once got a straight red in first 15 mins.

Should go for Jack Butland. Homegrown player and if he is happy on the bench at Stoke he will surely be happier on the bench at Chelsea?

He already rejected us once.

I think Stoke are looking to promote him to first choice which might be why Bergovic (who also qualifies as homegrown by the way) might be leaving.

Begovic IS homegrown.

Would be surprised if he joined us. Would prefer Rob Green really, since I think Begovic deserves to start every game.

I disagree, Szczesny is a absolute knob, last thing we need is a bench player that smokes in the showers and takes w**ky on-pitch selfies after almost every game.

Yes Rob Green is the ideal back-up to Courtois! I would definitely be in favour if the club signed him.

Is Julio Cesar worth a look again or has that ship sailed?

How about Pepe Reina? He's got PL experience.

We've only just managed to shed the Liverpool from our squad, let's not go infecting it again.

Latest rumour is Stoke might look for Moses to be included in any potential deal for Begovic.
