Good songs by bands you hate...
Just a few off the top of my head: - Queen - never liked them much either, the only tracks of theirs that I really liked were their first three hits, 'Seven Seas Of Rhye', 'Now I'm Here' & 'Killer Queen' Buzzcocks - f*ckin' hate the singer's whiny poxy voice, always have! But I do like 'Ever Fallen In Love' Gary Glitter - even before the obvious reasons to hate this sicko became apparent, this bloke was a prize w*nker. Yet his first hit was great - 'Rock'n'Roll (Pts. 1 & 2)'. This song will always remind me of walking around Mitcham Fair of a summers evening, it blared out every night along with 'Silver Machine' by Hawkwind and 'Popcorn' by Hot Butter. I've also hated the Bee Gees for nearly 40 years, but have to admit they've made quite a few good records. The evening they had a hissy fit and walked off Clive Anderson's show made me crease up, and that very act justified my contempt for the egomaniacal tw*ts

Police to Reform ?
What about Judge Dread?????? Be very interesting to see how The Police would shape up now - as Loz says, Sting's ego could be a major factor - it's on a par with Bono's

The most disappointing Chelsea XI of all time...
Well, if Pierluigi Casiraghi is going to be selected, then David Hay must also be in with a shout. He arrived from Celtic as one of Scotland's best players, only to have his career cut short by a knee injury, and eye problems. On a personal level, I'd also have to nominate Derek Johnstone, who'd been brilliant at Rangers for over ten years. I was looking forward to seeing him play for Chelsea so much, but unfortunately he was well past his sell-by date by the time he arrived, and he only ever started one game for us

Steve Clark
Mine too, he's right up with there with Sandy Jardine 8)
-
Paulo Ferreira - a Chappie or a Sharon Wood
Same could be said of Shevchenko - he's been getting dog's abuse on this site (sometimes by the very people who defend Ferreira), yet he's been played out of position virtually ever since he arrived.

Pearce quoted silly money for SWP
That's the common sense way of doing things, which is why it'll never happen

Sheva trains on sand dunes at cobham :)
Chelsea used to do their close season training in the sand dunes at Aberystwyth, or somewhere like that. As Taipan says, it's to build up strength, and more importantly, stamina. Now if Mourinho could only get Ballack playing murder-ball with Boulah we'd be well on our way to the title

The most disappointing Chelsea XI of all time...
deschamps was sh*te...even he admitted he'd only played 50 per cent or something like that...he came for a pay day and didn't deserve to get a cup medal Never rated Deschamps while he was at Chelsea. And now he's in the running to become our manager, should Mourinho leave

Paulo Ferreira - a Chappie or a Sharon Wood
No!

Paulo Ferreira - a Chappie or a Sharon Wood
As I may have mentioned before, I don't rate Ferreira I thought he was good when he first arrived, though not great, but he's got worse as time's gone on. It's got to the point now that I flinch whenever we're defending, because Paulo has become such a liability. His distribution is awful, his heading even worse (three times in the last couple of weeks I've seen him head the ball straight up in the air while defending in his own area), and his tackling leaves a lot to be desired, he's given away quite a few silly free-kicks recently - though I'm prepared to accept that lack of games has affected his timing. Oh, and his positioning is crap too. To even think about comparing him to Chappie is sacrilege! Trouble is, Geremi isn't much of a replacement - he's more of a wing-back than a defender. I reckon we should go out and buy Anthony Vanden Borre from Anderlecht - he can't be any worse than what we've already got. I'd suggest making a bid for Alan Hutton, but I'd hate to see him leave Ibrox And, Loz, I'll have you know that my taste in strip joints is impeccable. Well, actually, thinking about it, what with The Peel.......scrap that - but my taste in full-backs is brilliant! As for the girl's name - how about Fanny Ferreira?

Robben the key to EP title !
Lampard's always late, the lazy b*stard! I know it's been said elsewhere, but Ferreira seems to have turned into a pub team player this season, even when playing at right-back. And after a few decent performances, Geremi appears to be going the same way. The key word in your post is 'pressing' - we just don't seem to press for the ball any more, and that's one of the main reasons we struggle. I still think my attacking 4-4-2 would be our best option, but it's never going to happen - after all, why change things when the diamond is working so well?

Ossie13's Fantasy Football Thread Brought Over
My side of non-scouse/manc/arse/spud/spammers were doing so well until bleedin' Christmas - remind you of anyone? It's got to the point where I've panicked by playing my wild card and making three transfers

Robben the key to EP title !
A little perspective: we don't have the personel? ........................................Cech.................................... .... ....Ferreira.......Carvalho......Terry...........Cole...... ....................................Makelele.................................... .....................Essien..................................................... ... ..............................................Lampard.......................... ....SWP...........................................................Robben.. ....................................Drogba...................................... . Shevchenko Kalou Ballack Bridge Cudicini. THAT LOOKS LIKE A F#!@ING good side to me compared to all other 19 premiership sides! We have the personel, what we don't have is the same coaching we had last season and the season before it. We've changed back to the flat, defensive midfield and we're paying the same prices we paid with it in the very beginning. It might look a f*cking good side to you, Pauly, but Ferreira and SWP are both playing like sh*t, and Ashley Cole certainly doesn't deserve to be picked ahead of Wayne Bridge on current form.

so, sunday...
Need to sort mine out 1st mate Have we changed our mind about Eissen yet Rob ?? still don't reckon he is all that ? have to give the lad credit. He has had an excellent season from the little i have seen, and what i have read. Still think he's a dirty c*** though based on last season, those tackles had nothing to do with adjusting to the prem, they were just filth. But credit to him, he looks a top class midfield player. Worth far more to you lot than Fat Fw**k. But of course Sissoko is as pure as the driven snow, eh?

BBC2 Tonight: The Story of Black Popular Music
Have you still got that George Clinton tape???? If so, any chance of doing me a copy? I only realised that programme was on when it was halfway through, was well pissed off! I've got the Saturday night programme on DVD, so I could burn a copy for you if you're interested.

Robben the key to EP title !
I'm with ethicalstrategy on this one - I'd love to see us playing an attacking 4-4-2: - ___________________Cech_______________ Garemi*____Carvalho_____Terry_____Bridge Kalou*______Lampard____Essien_____Robben ________Shevchenko*____Drogba__________ * Geremi or a new right back - Ferreira's not up to it * Joe Cole to play in place of Kalou when fit * Shevvychenks or a new striker

BBC2 Tonight: The Story of Black Popular Music
I'll stick a DVD in and record it - gotta be good! Starts five minutes after MOTD ends.

BBC2 Tonight: The Story of Black Popular Music
Don't forget Mike O! According to my TV Guide, there's an hour-long James Brown profile at 11:55 on BBC2, followed by The Electric Proms: James Brown Live, recorded at the Roundhouse. Must be different for Scotland. They both sound good though

Chelsea Fans
First and Foremost, who's going to win the league this year? Are you worried you might not get the 3rd one in a row? Depends on a lot of things, like injuries. Am I bovvered??? Naah, I'm just happy that I got to see us win the league - nobody should expect to win the title year-in year-out. Whats happened to Shevchenko? No service, played out of position and in a formation that doesn't suit him, first season in a new country, carrying an injury since the World Cup - take your pick..... Who do you think is your most important player(s) so far this year? Petr Cech and John Terry - look what's happened to us since they got injured Michael Essien - total commitment Didier Drogba - scoring goals for fun now that's he's stopped being a drama queen (most of the time) One player signs for Chelsea in January - who would you like it to be? Or which position should it be for? Klose of Werder Bremen - we're desperately short of strikers. We're also desperately short of central defenders, but slightly better off there. If you're a regular matchgoer, what can we expect from the travelling Chelsea faithful? Noisy bunch? It's been years since I followed Chelsea away, and I can't imagine it's anything like it was back then. I should imagine the atmosphere at away games is always better than at home, always was, so there should be lots of singing, standing, swearing, etc..... If you could have one Liverpool player till the end of the season, who and why? Steve Gerrard - so I could put him in the reserves Your views on our current situation? Rafa? The Players? I hate Benitez, can't stand his attitude - I have to turn the TV off or change channels when he's interviewed I've got little or no respect for most of your players, as they don't appear to have any for us. Still, best not to generalise: - Dudek - clown Reina - over-rated because of comparisons with Dudek (why did you lot loan out the likes of Carson & Kirkland, yet keep hold of Dudek????) Finnan - average at best Hyppia - was an excellent player, liked him a lot, but he's past it now Carragher - nowhere near as good as you lot seem to think he is, and he's a gobby twat too Agger - average Riise - I rate him, he always seems to do well against us, the b*stard Aurelio - average Alonso - we've all got divers in our teams, and he's one of yours Gerrard - so over-rated it's scary Gonzalez - quick, but that's about it - your equivalent of Gronkjaer? Pennant - a poor-mans Aaron Lennon, and trouble waiting to happen Bellamy - a total piece of scum, trouble already happening Crouch - circus freak, making the most of the fact that England are desperately short of decent strikers Kuyt - hard worker, quite like him - that'll soon change when he becomes a professional scouser though Fowler - he was one of the best strikers around a few years back, but has never been the same since incurring injuries. Living off his past reputation now Garcia - hate this bloke with a vengeance - just looking at him makes me want to kick the TV in Who's better, Gerrard or Frank? You're having a f*ckin' laugh ain't ya??? Did you happen to hear about the "Truth Day" campaign against Arsenal in the F.A Cup? If you did, your views on Anfield that night and the whole protest as a whole. Heard about it, and saw it on TV. Don't know enough about it to comment though Finally can you please predict the score? Could be anything! I'll go for 2-2.

Chelsea's best ever transfer signing?
That's very true - the only reason I didn't mention him was that he was far more influential as a manager than as a player.

Chelsea's best ever transfer signing?
In the 'what is going on?' thread, Loud And Proud commented that Frank Lampard was possibly the best player signed by a Chelsea manager. Got me thinking about the transfer signings we've made over the years - who do you think is/was the best, and for what reason? To my mind, the following players were among the best transfer signings we've made, mostly because they were virtual unknowns at the time, and became Chelsea heroes. Charlie Cooke - bought for ?72,500 from Dundee in April 1966 by Tommy Docherty. Ian Hutchinson - bought from Cambridge Utd. (then in the Southern League) for just ?2,500 in July 1968 by Dave Sexton. David Webb - bought for ?40,000 from Southampton (part-exchange with Joe Kirkup) in February 1968 by Dave Sexton. John Dempsey - bought for ?70,000 from Fulham (part-exchange with Barry Lloyd) in January 1969 by Dave Sexton. Not exactly an unknown, but a great signing nonetheless! Eddie Niedzwiecki - bought for just ?45,000 from Wrexham in June 1983 by Johnny Neal. Pat Nevin - bought for ?95,000 from Clyde in July 1983 by Johnny Neal. Kerry Dixon - bought from Reading for just ?150,000 (plus ?25,000 later) in August 1983 by Johnny Neal. But obviously there have been loads of other great signings over the years, including the likes of Gullit, Zola, Desailly, Vialli, Hughes, Flo, Petrescu, Di Matteo, Lampard, Cech etc......far too many to think of, let alone mention (I'm beginning to wish I hadn't started this now, I'm getting a headache) So, who do you think is/are the best? On the other hand, who would you say was the worst transfer signing we've made? Gawd knows, there's been a few! Could include Robert Fleck, Enrique De Lucas, Mark Bosnich, Juan Sebastian Veron.....though I've got a feeling Winston Bogarde will get quite a few mentions It's up to you, but I don't think it would be fair to include any players who are still in their first season at the club

I've had enough
Let's face it, after Ossie was sold there was precious little else to enjoy as a Chelsea fan Vera was a staunch Blue before the war, and became one of the first leaders of the Shed, as anyone who heard her terrace battlecry would attest to - "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again you f*ckin' scouse caahhnts!"
-
I've had enough
I agree again, Tim. I've been watching Chelsea for 40 years now, and still feel totally pissed off with what's happening this season. By that, I mean: - - lack of passion from a number of players, particularly Ballack - looking at the league table and wondering how the f*ck we're 2nd. when we've been playing so badly - the managers cock-up re selling Huth, Gallas & Carlton and letting Crespo go off on loan again, and not replacing any of them - not knowing who's in charge of the team, re signing players, etc.... - Mourinho's terrible man-management - stating his untouchables, and his preference of playing players out of position to a ridiculous degree rather than selecting a reserve player And it's not just Chelsea - I'm f*ckin' sick of the way football is nowadays, for many reasons that have been covered many times. Football was a major part of my life, but now it feels as if it's being taken away from me.

I've had enough
I'm in total agreement with you Tim.
