By spine, I mean leadership, in every department of the pitch. Colwill, Fofana, Lavia, Caicedo and Enzo, do not strike me as the leaders we need, despite being very good players.

We all thought that we had a decent start to the season, fixtures wise. Liverpool Home, West Ham away, Luton Home, Forest Home and Bournemouth away. Arguably, most of us expected at least 11 points. But in reality, we have taken 5 points. We cannot even beat the likes of Forest and Bournemouth, the only side that we can beat is the one that is favourite for relegation and rock bottom in the Premier League. I still think the two main issues are the piss poor medial team we have at Chelsea, TWELVE first team players on the treatment table, most of the injuries serious and long term with little likelihood if any, of they key players returning soon. Secondly, the woeful Directors of football who after the shambles of last season, could not even recognise that we needed a striker and consequently, didn't bother buying one. I am not including Jackson either as he is NOT a striker, he is a Havertz at very best. We have bought dozens of supposedly talented youngsters (I have yet to see it !!) when what we really needed was a SPINE, a backbone for the team like we had in the Terry, Lampard, Drogba mould. This is NOT on Pochettino, the same results would have befallen any coach given this squad, injuries and lack of goalscorers. This is on Boehly and his cronies who do not have a clue how an English football club is run. They MUST sort out the medical team, bring in the very best available injury specialists, fitness coaches, nutritionists etc and in January (if its not too late by then) a striker worthy of the name.

It could only be Sanchez, as he was the only Chelsea player who put a shift in !!

Why precisely is that ??

Having watched a re-run of the loss to Forest, I am disturbed that Sanchez was poor in several areas. Distribution was woeful, Shot stopping was very poor, he was far too slow going down for forest's goal and it looks to me as though the defence do not have much faith in him at dead balls and for crosses. They spend a lot of time conversing with him. We basically bought Brighton's THIRD choice keeper, paid £25million, let Kepa go and undoubtedly made our team weaker and the defensive situation worse. I just hope that Djorje Petrovic is an improvement, as I really cannot see Sanchez keeping his place for long on current form.

What Barney Ronay does not understand is that 1. This is Chelsea FC, 2, we always do things the hard way, 3.Life is ALWAYS a roller coaster ride at Chelsea, 4. We probably wouldn't have it any other way (it would be far too boring)

The TWO things that The Club, be that Boehly, the inept Winstanley & Stewart or Joe Shields (Director of Proffesional Football ????) got so massively wrong, is the abject FAILURE to address either of the shockingly obvious issues that have dragged Chelsea into mid table mediocrity. 1, The complete and utter lack of Leadership, on and off the pitch, 2. The lack of and failure to recruit a PROVEN, top level goal scorer. These omissions are so f**king obvious, that my six year old Grandson could have pointed them out and until BOTH issues are put right, do not expect much more from Chelsea than we are seeing at the moment. Forget the £ billion + that we have squandered, that is now making us a laughing stock, if we sort out both of the above, Chelsea will soon be back on track, but it truly beggars belief that these so called football professionals could not identify the clear and obvious solutions.

The Manager's job is to win games and he has now done that twice in 5 days. For Christ sake people, give Pochettino a chance. I have already seen enough improvement (even at West Ham) to be very happy with our choice of Manager so far.

On the plus side he has already scored against Arsenal & Sevilla this season. On the negative side, £40+m is a lot of money to pay for a lad with only 19 Premier starts for City. But as said by others, he fits the profile of the majority of our signings. Definite ability for Poch to develop. I am quite excited by this !!

Ok, So I must not get carried away as it was only Luton Town, everyone's favourites for relegation, BUT the all round performance was so much better in every department. We have now played pretty well in THREE consecutive games and I now believe that we are improving and that the results will come. Pochettino is definitely having a positive effect on the Group, but especially Sterling, who I am now very glad we kept 😉

Sterling really does look as though he is back to his imperious best. So he was MOM for me, but I was also impressed by Gusto, Chilwell, Enzo and Caicedo too.
