I'm saying this for months here. Zubimendi or Scott would not work IMHO because we are not controlling football matches that much, nor we will anytime soon. Under Alonso we will need to defend the transition a lot and, if fit, James is as good as any other midfielder in this world next to Caicedo.
It's a big IF, but once Caicedo is back and James stays fit, people will be amazed at how good they are together. James will grow into that role as long as his muscles allow it. He has all the tools to play that role.

The European Cup was originally a straight knock out competition with no seeding. . One season United ( who were the big draw for TV audiences) got knocked out early by Galatasery. EUFA and the TV broadcasters weren't happy. Then it was changed to a season of a 4 team mini league followed by another 4 team mini league before a knockout phase. All this was to minimise the chance of the " big" teams being knocked out.
This latest league phase is just another way to protect those teams and provide a Super League.

Although that Spurs v Liverpool CL final will always take some beating.

Blame Maresca. Gusto debuted as a promising RB. Maresca decided, on no evidence whatsoever, that he could also play midfield in inverted mode. A RB playing out of position without the skill set to cope, hence creating two weaknesses. RB and midfield. I doubt at this stage that Gusto even knows where he's supposed to be and what he's supposed to do.

Really like Rogers as a player and also his personality. That interview with Rogers and Palmer after the game was comedy gold! The fact they are such good mates and love playing their football together really comes across. Signing Rogers was a great move as he's a real asset and also hopefully means Palmer will stay with us for a long time too. If Real Madrid ever come sniffing, they will have to have enough money to sign both!

I think he was a bit shell shocked early in the game once we lost control, was bypassed too easily and seemed to be constantly trying to catch up with the ball. Its a good game for his education though, the daft yellow could be the reason he was taken off. But hes a kid making a start in a big game, cant really hold anything against him and it will be a step forward for him.

Big mistake but love the way he responded, didn't hide and showed an impressive attitude/character/mentality in all he did.
Have to admit to being one of those that were really upset with Santos being sold, however although early days this guy seems as good as or even better from box to box perspective, do like his ability to spot a pass and his range of passing also.
Don't think his size will be a problem will give as good as he gets in that respect it seems and a little like Wisey in small but physical side of things possibly.

I actually think we need 2 new midfielders.

If only his brain worked as quickly as his legs do, he would be so much better. He can get into some superb positions with his runs and dribbles, but his decision making is still pretty poor overall.

So far, Chaos ball is back without the spurs connection. I'm enjoying it, this side is going to evolve this season. I just see positives at the minute as I think we will have more than enough firepower to win most games and find way past low mid and high parked bus blocks. been a while since I bite my finger nals during a game and got excited like that. brilliant.

Only Chelsea fans could look at a player like Reece James and claim hes a noose around the neck, the f**k is wrong with you people.
Hes in the middle of the park because we have no one else to play that role, he is one of the best RB`s in the league and should be played there, but currently hes having to fill a role for his manager.
