Looks like we are pursuing this one with him not signing a deal and us having a bid rejected this morning.

How does this guy compare to Adam Wharton ?

Never watched much of Bournemouth or Palace, so don't really have any feel for this ... which one would be the better signing ? I guess our DoFs seem to have settled on Scott ... seems to be another average height midfielder to go with all our other average height midfielders ... and not the physical "Rodri" specimen that I feel would be a better complement for Caicedo.

He's a lighter-weight version of Wharton, no powerhouse himself.

Much prefer Wharton as a player but both are massive improvements, from a PL standpoint, on the incumbent Enzo who they’d be replacing.

I think there different players too, Warton is more a deep play maker whole Scott is an attacking box to box type, hes much more physical.

No way. Scott is only 22/23 whereas Bruno is coming up to 29 and will have little sell-on value.

I would prefer Wharton as I think he's one of the best passers in the PL and we are crying out for someone who can thread an accurate and FORWARD pass.

But Scott possibly offers more of a goal threat, but now we'll have Palmer, Rogers, Pedro and Estevao would prefer Wharton supplying them the ammo.

Palestra, Rogers, Chavarria, Scott.

Seems like Alonso wants a team of ball carriers.

Ticks the experienced Xhaka box with an extra 5 years, be it more expensive. Think we've got enough young midfielders I like the idea of a bit of experience in there, but like you say the BlueCo model hasn't been a fan of this kind of transfer.

I don’t know much about him. 4 goals in 80 appearances from midfield seems a pretty low return, but am sure there is a lot more to his game than that. Wonder what the next bid will be.

Yeah, pretty much how I see it, I see Wharton as fitting the squad more than Scott at the moment. We need a passer/controller to sit alongside Caicedo, Scotts much more of a ball carrier and attacking midfielder.

Its quite funny how quickly things change in football, a few days ago we were doomed, no decent player would ever sign for us, yet now were discussing which big money midfielder we should sign along with the big money attacker weve just signed from under the nose of the Champions.

This rumour picking up pace at rapid rates now. Bournemouth actually not in a position of force either with only two years left on his contract.

Though they are said to really want to keep him for this season, with a sale in 2027.

They've offered him a new deal with a release clause for summer 2027, he has turned it down, they in turn have told clubs they don't want to sell and set a price tag of 95mill to put off bids.

The more I read, the more I believe he will have a big say in what is going to happen in the next weeks. There is nothing Bournemouth can do if he does not agree to a new contract and wants to leave. He could stay and further improve and become an 100M player with one year left on his contract. But how would that benefit Bournemouth. Surely no club would bid any massive amount knowing they could get him on a free in six months.

If he agrees on a new contract and a decent release clause next summer, maybe he stays there. But if he does not, I am afraid there is nothing Bournemouth can do.

Wharton looks better.

I don't think it is as much of a gamble for Bournemouth to force him to stay.

Either he has a blinder of a season and they probably can still get 60mill plus for him with a year left on his deal given he is english and van hecke went for 52mill with a year left on his deal, before that Liverpool were willing to pay 60mill for Marc Guehi when he had 1 year left on his deal.

Or Scott has a poor year but that damages him to do so and he likely then has to settle with a move to Everton or forest. I dont see him downing tools for this reason.

We need someone with technical ability as well as an engine to meet the demands of the prem to replace Enzo. From my reading Wharton sounds like a good option. He also, like Rogers, seems like a player we have been keeping an eye on for years.
