While I dont think Cahill should be dropped, him and Terry are too much alike imo. Luiz gives us that extra bit of pace and athleticism at the back which we dont get from the Terry/Cahill partnership. Watching a segment now on the local telly about todays fullbacks and how much of a liability they are in defense, I cant help but think about how great Ashley Cole has ben for our club. Absolute world class week in and out.

He wouldnt be playing the same role as Mikel so I have no idea why you bring that up (Actually I have a feeling I do, but Ill humor you just the same). If you watched the game against Juve and him in the olympics you can see he likes to get deep and get the ball to distribute it upfield. Not only that, but he is pretty damn good at it.He wouldnt be playing deep to break up passes, tackle or any of the other defensive tasks Mikel does for our team. but rather the job Lampard is supposed to do, which is get the ball out of defense, distribute it upfield and get forward when the situation allows for it. Sort of like what Modric did for Spuds
