Ivanovic was constantly beaten by Moses. Shoddy defensive performance from him. Also ha a few crossing opportunities he wasted. Beside from the goal it was a lackluster performance from him..

I wouldnt? I think thats exactly what he is. Ramires could do a job in that position, Meireles could not. Especially next to lampard. If Meireles i to be of any use at all, it has to be either in a three man midfield or next to someone like Mikel (Or Carrick if you please)

Yes, Mikel has been played at DM by almost every manager we have. So what? Hes the best at that position that we got. That doesnt mean the rate him. Just because you are the prettiest girl at Greggs doesnt mean you are pretty, at all. Now I like Mikel more then most I think and looking at some of the comments on here I find him really underrated. When Romeu played under RDM he was pretty bad. Mainly because his passing got exposed. He cant retain posetion remotely well enough to play the holding role (yet). So imo, Mikel is still the clear cut best option we have. Lets be real though, the holding midfielder position is the weakest position currently on our team and if we cold upgrade it. Someone like MVilla would fit that role really well and give our team a lot more steel in midfield.

First, it was said as a joke mate geez. Second, Immense? I really think we have different understanding of what that word means. Yes he ran a lot, yes he gives 100% effort. Thats pretty much all he does. He was absolutely terrible in most of the games he played in towards the end of the season. Against Fulham he had one of the worst games I have ever seen. Completed around 20% of his passes, constantly committed fouls and had about 5-6 long rang shots were it looked like he was trying to clear the ball out of the stadium. Meireles is the kind of player that would be fine on a team like Stoke, but not for a team looking to challenge for the EPL title. Hes terrible at retaining posetion, constantly turns the ball over making poor decisions, is caught out of position all of the time when staying back. Yet he looks like a BA and always gives 100% effort so people watching not knowing what hes supposed to do as a CM actually think hes done a good job. Oh and inb4 "Everyone isnt messi or Ronaldo". True, but you can t last complete >50% of your passes when you are a fukking midfielder
