Other than injury, the one thing that worries me for when we get to the latter stages of the CL is teams man-marking Cesc and cutting his influence on the game. If some of the PL's middling teams can use this tactic successfully (Fellaini MU away), I imagine some of the European giants like Madrid and bayern will employ it. If/when this happens, the burden will fall to hazard and oscar to create for costa and the entire team. (Or perhaps Jose will change tactics when he anticipates it) Now, obviously we can consider our side extremely strong and well balanced when this is a top item to be worried about. I've just been thinking about this since the match away to united.

17 matches into the season and only 5 clean sheets if I've counted correctly (albeit we haven't had all the luck with it -- emre can's deflected goal at anfield). But we still need to tighten up at the back. Do y'all think it is due to: 1. A new keeper? Thibaut is getting used to the defense and vice versa. 2. Cesc's role? His position is now filled with a very offensively minded player as opposed to a more defensive minded one last year 3. A different philosophy? We are more attacking this season because now we have a striker who can put away chances. This leaves us more vulnerable at the back especially to teams that like to counter. I do think Jose will rectify the problem even if we never become as defensively sound as last year due to a more open/attacking mindset. This came up for me today because 1. I was browsing our stats and 2. The international break is slow as molasses. Can't wait for the boys in blue to get back in action! KTBFFH
