Posted February 9, 200916 yr Quaresma preferred us to Tottenham because of Scolari and said they had a good relationship, I hope this doesn't hinder any chance we had of getting as much as possible out of him. Edited February 9, 200916 yr by Chippy
February 9, 200916 yr Well it will certainly allow us to see how much of a professional he is and give us an indication as to whether his permanent signature is worth pursuing.
February 9, 200916 yr Author Well it will certainly allow us to see how much of a professional he is and give us an indication as to whether his permanent signature is worth pursuing. The worry is with him being our main hope for something different this season and the fact that Scolari is known for letting players try flicks and tricks without getting on their backs if they don't come off. a new man is going to be results concious and trying to make him retain the ball at all costs and track back might not be the way to rekindle his confidence. Oh well we havn't bought him thats one consellation.
February 9, 200916 yr If Scolari was the only thing that swayed him for us from Tottenham then he deserves to melt in the reserves. I realise melt isn't the correct word but the correct one has escaped me...! EDIT: The words rot! Edited February 9, 200916 yr by Gem
February 9, 200916 yr I fear the worst Gem, I think the word is the one that can be applied to the team at the moment: 'rot'
February 9, 200916 yr Author If Scolari was the only thing that swayed him for us from Tottenham then he deserves to melt in the reserves.I realise melt isn't the correct word but the correct one has escaped me...! Its not really about Scolari swaying him its about Quaresma being a confidence player and having the belief Scolari would help him regain some, The next man might be a top confidence builder but as he came and only had 63 minutes under Scolari I am just wondering how it will affect him. It likely wont matter as the new man will keep the whole team under the age of 24 so he will be surplus anyway B)
February 9, 200916 yr Yeah I know what you mean Chippy, just an excuse to have a dig at Spuds really B) Yes TWW, hahaha, that was the word.
February 9, 200916 yr My Portuguese friend said that Scolari and Quaresma never seemed to get on anyway, so I doubt it'll effect him too much. Hopefully.

EDIT: The words rot! :D i had an immage in my head of quaresma standing in the centre circle screaming "im melting" like the witch of the wizard of oz..... also, isnt melted quaresma some sort of melted cheese...
February 9, 200916 yr dkw, methinks you mean "quesadilla" As far as the player, I really hope the portuguese contingent convinces him to stay. He clearly has the fans support after satruday, but I hope to god he doesnt take the strop.
February 9, 200916 yr couldn't give a monkey's to be honest . Hope to see some big games from JT , Lampard etc
February 9, 200916 yr I think people overestimate the importance of the manager when it comes to these things. Quaresma went to us over Spuds because we're more prestigious club at the moment and we're in the CL. The fact that he had several Portuguese players in the squad and his former national team manager at the helm was not the major reason. He's here for a few months anyway. If RQ is serious about proving himself at the club he'll do well. If not, just as well.

Funny I watched an interview with him where he picked out Scolari as a main factor, I should have asked you...would have saved me my chelsea plus subscription. Strange how the manager is not important in these matters unyet a lot of the draw in getting a big name manager seems to be attracting the right players.

I may be wrong in Quaesma's case Chippy, but his only signing Deco mentioned in an interview that he would have signed for Chelsea regardless of the fact that Scolari was there. The second target Robinho in the end chose other things over working with LFS (not that I blame Scolari for that). My point is, if Scolari was managing Spurs I believe RQ would still go for Chelsea for the reasons I mentioned above.
February 9, 200916 yr There is still this ongoing myth that Robinho chose City (and cash) over us. We never had an offer for Robinho accepted by Real and therefore he never had an offer to play for us. He did not turn us down, he never got the chance to.

I can't see what Deco or Robinho have to do with it Abram, I posted this because Quarema is a confidence player and Mourinho and mainly the Inter fans never helped his confidence so he was pleased to come to a team where he had played under the Manager and had been dropped under the manager, he obviously done it in a way the player respected and he thought he may be able to reignite his best form under him. Robinhos Club never wanted him to come to Chelsea and Deco would likely go to anyone flashing an extra couple of Euro.
February 9, 200916 yr It shouldnt make any difference, what does he want, go back to Inter reserve? The lad has a lot to prove, he hasn't done s** all outside of Portugal.

I'm not saying you're wong mate, I'm just speculating. By the way, Quaresma wasn't exactly one of Scolari's favorites when they worked in a national team together and spent most of his time on the bench. Once again he may suffer a loss of confidence as a result of Big Phil's departure, but who knows the next man in charge will prove to be the right fit for both - Chelsea and Quaresma.
February 10, 200916 yr Be weary of Quaresma, hes like a gypsy Anelka, psychologically speaking that is..... Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Roy Keane
