kalpitv
ANCELOTTI IS NEW CHELSEA MANAGERPosted on: Mon 01 Jun 2009 Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce that Carlo Ancelotti has agreed to become our new manager. He has signed a three year contract and will start on July 1, 2009. Carlo was the outstanding candidate for the job. He has proved over a long period his ability to build teams that challenged for, and have been successful in, major domestic and European competitions. He also had a highly successful playing career in those competitions and therefore brings unparalleled all round experience to the job. We are sure everybody at Chelsea will give him a warm welcome and we are all looking forward to working with him. Gem
Well, an unpopular acquisition but he's officially here now, let's see what sort of players he's able to attract and how much money he'll get to spend on them.

g3.7
welcome carlo, and good luck. he now has a nearly impossible job... but, at least this is in theory a stronger appointment than the previous two (permament) choices.

Ruh Buh Juh
Watching the interview on Chelsea now, and fair play to him, his English is quite good. You can understand him a lot easier than LFS. Good start.

Lofty
His English was said to be as good as Cappello when he took over as England manager. Agreed, he's more fluent now than Scolari ever was.

jordanl5182
His English is quite good...better than most of us expected. The interview wasn't really all that revealing, but at least he knows communication is a priority. Seems like he might do okay at the club, as long as he doesn't screw up training sessions and get on the players nerves like Scolari. It's the Daily Star, but he could be given £100m to spend...sounds tasty! Daily Star (The Sun said it would be £50m though.) Tim
Well, we've all got our reservations about this appointment, but he's here now, so welcome Carlo, you deserve all the support you need from the club and fans to build on what Guus has achieved. Uno
Is it just me or does this have LFS the 2nd written all over it. Doesnt know the league at all, Hasnt won a league for 5 years. Wants to bring in more over 30 year old players (deco for LFS and Pirlo for Carlo) instead of bringing the age of the squad down. To be honest i dont have much faith in this appointment. And to give him a 3 year contract is crazy, i am willing to bet that we will be paying out another huge pay out when he is sacked.
Lofty
Realistically, I think a lot of us have been a little over-pessimistic about Ancelotti, not unnaturally after what happened with Scolari, combined with an equally natural sense of disappointment that Guus Hiddink won't be staying on a permanent basis. However, the biggest, most obvious difference between Scolari and Ancelotti is that unlike Scolari, Ancelotti does have recent extensive experience of managing a top European club side. Ancelotti also has the contacts and the reputation to attract top European players. I've got a feeling we've got a very interesting and exciting close season ahead of us. youlots
unims He would hardly have come on board for anything less than 3 years: pretty standard term for an incoming manager.

Dorset
Of course, now that it’s official, we all have to rally round in support, but, as our recent poll indicates, there are a lot of non-believers in the camp and perhaps even more who didn’t think him worthy of being on any list in the first place. Let’s face it, nobody can say that the guy isn’t a top manager, but to date his success has been totally home based and, as it didn’t take Jose long to touch on that particular nerve, it's easy to see the Media’s opening gambit in July. Also, unlike a certain Siralex, who has always escaped this type of barbed criticism, he wont have a strong grasp of the English language with which to defend himself [though it is better than expected]. Come to think of it, neither has Fergie, so he must have received the benefit of some other kind of ‘special treatment’ over the years to have avoided any similar dumbing down of his talents. Unlike this protected species of a rival, Carlo is going to be much fairer game from the outset and, having no ’previous’ to go on, his position will resemble Scolari’s vulnerability over the question of his return to club management and we all know what we ended up saying about that particular deficiency. Naturally enough, there is no telling how he will perform and, until he’s had a chance to settle in and show us what he’s made of, who knows whether it’s going to be a case of duck to, or fish out of, water. One thing is for sure - this has to be a long term appointment come hell or a high level of the stuff. Edited June 1, 2009 by Dorset
SydneyChelsea
Ancelotti, like Scolari before him, is brought in solely with the aim of winning the Champions' League. One thing that shouldn't be missed is that his AC Milan team won titles competing against three very strong sides in Inter, Juventus and Roma, compared to say Mancini who had the fortune of his major rivals being decimated financially. We will see a lot more about his ambitions with his signings.

The only things to the contrary are that his English is already meant to better than LFS, and according to Beckham, amongst others, his man management skills are second to none... We have heard this all before though, so it's hard to get excited about it.
monterrey jack
Just two days ago I was reading of a huge downturn in world super servers. I suggest Chelsea start getting one on the cheap! For the last 30 minutes I cannot even access the Chelsea official chat site or the video, it was the same on FA and CL games !! Thanks Shedend for always being there Edited June 1, 2009 by monterrey jack
