David Villa

If what he says is true, which is 50/50 because all he talks about is Real Madrid. Then sadly i feel he's Madrid bound because of his preference to stay in spain.

Im still shocked it's like Perez is a kid in a candy story, i want that one and that one and that one and he is getting what he wants. Don't understand where he will fit in though. They have Higuain, Raul, RVN, Klass Hunt

I think they're getting rid of 8/9 players...even Raul's position is under threat

Apparently had an offer for him turned down:

Goal.com

But then again this is Guillem Balague... a w**ker who likes to stir things up...especially things regarding chelsea

Surely before you release that article, you must have an article saying we have made a bid before it surely... :(

Does Perez do some dodgy backroom stuff or something? Why does he get every target?

He gets his targets because he often over-pays for his big signings, alongside the fact they know they will be cuddled and given preferential treatment from Perez, and whatever manager he is using as a puppet.

Don't worry, this stint won't last long either, he gets the flair alright, but couldn't find a decent defender to spend the money on if his life depended on it.

Unless Real or Barca don't want him, I don't see us having much luck signing Villa.

Pretty much. I know Villa used the excuse last year that he wasn't ready but I still think he wants to be in Spain or bust.

I thought we had an excellent shot at him this off-season and maybe we do but I have big doubts now

BBC is running this article at the moment

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8084328.stm

Future of Valencia stars in doubt

The likelihood Valencia will have to sell stars David Villa and David Silva has increased after the resignation of president Vicente Soriano.

The Spanish giants, who defaulted on paying players last year, are reported to have debts of about £400 million.

"I hung on to Villa and Silva, and one year further on I am sure if my successors want to sell them they will be worth much more than 12 months ago."

Villa and Silva have been linked to Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea.

Nothing new, really, but there seems to be no reprieve in sight for them. If Madrid are distracted by the Kaka saga, and we were going to splash big money there is no time like the present

I still maintain that for the sort of money we would have to pay for Villa, we could be near the price for an Aguero or Benzema, who are surely better options given how much younger they are?

Absolutely spot on...and I feel Aguero is already better than Villa.

I dunno about that one to be fair, Villa is quality and would be as good if not BETTER than torres in the premiership, but then again if he doesnt want to come to england, Aguero isnt a bad second choice.

Please no one believe anything Guillem Balague says, he is full of sh*t and thinks himself to be the mouthpiece of Real for the UK. The most deluded self important f**ker i can think of.

However, its important no one gets their hopes up about Villa. As Butch says i just dont think he is going to leave Spain.

Either Aguero or Villa would be fine.. but now talks of milan wanting malouda : http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/...florent-malouda

so if they want malouda they should do a deal in which we get pato obviously i think we'd have to put some money up but yeah if we get aguero or villa + pato and ashley young or zhirkov or ribery then we are sorted it's really that easy i just hope they get this done and dusted.

That's only a few of the most sought after players in world football today, it'll be easy! :P

The three of Aguero+Pato+Young would cost us 100m or more and Aguero already said that he doesent want to move so that will just make it harder for us.

I would love to see Villa in blue but pursuing a player that has said he wants to remain in his own country doesnt make sense. Its hard enough to settle in a new country if he really wanted to come here add to this his wife is expecting a new kid in Sept I can see him staying in Spain even at a knockdown price.

I'd love Torres, but I doubt he'd leave Liverpool for us, and he's a fan of Liverpool too so I doubt he'd consider us. If Torres were to leave, I'm sure it'd be back to Spain

Unfortunately David Villa has always said that he wants to stay in Spain. He would be such a good player at 2 goals every 3 games, so it's great to see Abrahmovic willing to spend big.

. . . And Kaka said he was going to stay with AC Milan (forever). Each player has his price/conditions which will sway him.

The difference is players say they want to stay at the club because of loyalty to the fans. But when a player wants to stay in the country, it's a personal decision about cultural and way of life, and they have options of where they can move.
