A few points:

- Michael Mancienne is very much a player for the future

- Ancellotti thinks the Premiership is more competitive than Serie A

- Alex, Belletti and Zhirkov all have minor injuries, but should be back in training within a week

- Joe Cole should be back in training soon

- The players are taking a little time to adjust, to feel comfortable with the new system

- Ancellotti regards Drogba & Anelka as top strikers

- Ancellotti isn't too impressed with Torres's statement that they can "easily beat Chelsea and Man U"

- Ancellotti is curious to see how Man City and Aston Villa will do this season

There was more but that's a very quick summary.

Oh and his English is already far better than Scolari's ever was.

Good sum up lofty, I really want the guy to do well, having not much luck with managers since Jose.

Have you forgotten Guus already????? So FICKLE!!

Other enlightening gems from Ancelotti:

- Bears sh*t in the woods

- The Pope is Catholic

Actually, that brings me on to a funny story about the Pope. Apparently Tottenham went to Rome to see him, and you'll never guess what he said to them...

Christ I don't know why I bother.

Sort it out! 'not much luck with managers' actually includes Guus going back to Russia as 'not much luck'.

Fair enough! Just a different perspective.

Christ I don't know why I bother.

I obviously can't speak for PloKoon, Lofty, but I'd think this was directed more towards Ancelotti than yourself.

Managers and players, with few-and-far-between exceptions are taught to say cliches and use buzz words with the press. So what I hope PloKoon was saying is that Ancelotti didn't really say anything new, unheard or contraversial.

You of course are a trooper for giving us the main points :)

Don't worry, I wasn't taking it personally.

But on the eve of the new season, I would have hoped for a more positive reaction.

Few managers have Jose's flair at a press conference. However I don't care if the guy is a deaf dumb mute if builds the spine in the team to win the comp. Zhirkov being injured already is a problem, and I have basically written Joe Cole off.

Sorry Lofty, no offence intended. I very much appreciate you summarising this press conference for us, I was just making light of the fact that Ancelotti's revelations weren't really that unexpected or inspiring. Thanks and sorry again.

It's great to hear Joe Cole might be back soon though!
