Why Does Kalou keep getting chances

Featured Replies

Kalou is terrible! It kills me to watch the team I love continually sub this player in and no matter the situation, he always blows it! I would rather see any other striker go in. Kalou has no killer instinct. He can't finish! Does anyone else see this???????

Every game it's the same. No difference today versus Wigan. He had two of the best chances of the game and nothing,..It's Ridiculous..

Sturridge is apparently injured at the moment; hopefully he'll start getting some of Kalou's opportunities when he recovers.

Sturridge is still hurt with a hamstring otherwise he'd be scoring goals in the last 15 min of the games,..And thank god Di Santo will be back in January!

i've always been a fan of kalou, in previous seasons as he is a tryer,

this season he has been poor, he doesnt seem to have any idea of what to do with the ball when he has it, and when he does get an idea its generally been to late the ball has gone, or he's over run it

he seems to have lost some weight, he didnt have much to start with, so he's really easy to knock of the ball

Even though I risk being unpopular in saying this but I disagree. If anything, I think Kalou should be getting more chances, but in his prefered position as a striker or attacking mid not a winger, if only to boost his confidence. He plays well, has good runs, and sure he does f*ck up once in a while (ok, alot) but he's a good squad player. And people keep mentioning names like Sturridge and other youngsters but its not like Kalou is 30 something...he's 24! He's still young and learning.

I think he's been getting alot of stick recently because of the whole arsenal issue, but right now he's our player and we need to stick by him and support him. He missed our best chances today? To me he was good enough to make those chances for himself.

Anyway, thats my 2 cents, I'll go hide now... :300:

yes you are making yourself unpopular cos kalou is not good enough and anyone should be able to see that by now...fact is he hasn't improved from the player we signed three years ago...he may get 10 goals for the season, but how many of his goals are crucial ones, how many times has he saved a game for us? he is easily brushed off the ball by opponents and runs with his head down in possession so rarely picks out a team-mate with the right pass...he can shove a new contract up his ars* for all i care...when sturridge is fit he should take kalou's place on the bench and as back up to anelka...he looks like a genuine goalscorer unlike kalou...you could see some of the chelsea players doing their nut when he was on the pitch today!

I seem to remember him saving us against United last year. A little goal to save our skins againt Sp*rs at home as well. A nice header at the death against Watford. I also remember him scoring a goal sometime waaaaayyyy back in the day against QPR in the cup.

well to be fair you're right on those 3 (you can't count qpr surely), although the last last on your list was a year ago...on the whole though it's like seeing a fit bird in a witherspoons...a rare event

I count QPR because it won the match for us and it was a good goal. He showed what he is capable of on that play. I'm just trying to bring some balance into this out cry against Kalou because I always admire a player who sincerely looks like he is trying for the club and contributes. It always amazes me how he pops out of no where for goals after losing the ball 204 times on the wing. Believe me though, I too think that his chances are either slipping away or have already. Makes me sad because he's a good guy.

I would definitely be more than willing to give Porridge, Zhirkov, and even call back Stoch to get something new in there. It's time.

Depends how many pints you've had.

Chart it out for us geezer. 5 pints = ???

I scale my women by pints. If she's a real stunner then no pints needed. If she's Susan Boyle on a really bad day she's however many pints it takes to get alcoholic poisoning (which in my case is about 15).

My wife was two pints.

She must be beautiful. Give her my best.

Though it does beg the question about how many pints she needed for you.

That's four goals, and two of those were when Jose was still here. Sure he makes an important contribution every now and again, but Gronkjaer was a world beater once every twenty games too. Kalou tries hard, he just isn't good enough. If we want to win the PL/CL this year, we can't be relying on him to rescue us.

Apparently not (Di Santo return). Thanks to the most lovely organisation in the world known as 'FIFA'.

Even Kalou has scored more than Jesp!

But something tells me that when Joseph and Zhirkov are ready to be consistently playing every week, we won't be seeing as much Kalou.

Kalou is a useless waste of space who comes good once every 6 games and even when he does, he only looks a tad above average. He misses sitters, he has no vision, he loses the ball too easily, he makes the wrong decisions at crucial moments of games - he is, in other words, the dictionary definition of "unreliable". He hasn't progressed an inch from the player he was when he came to us and even still uses the same move when he wants to go past a player.

The only person who nears, but not quite reaches the abyss of his uselessness is Belletti. I get the feeling managers put in Belletti for every reason there is - we're chasing a goal - put in Belletti; we need to protect a lead - put in Belletti; someone needs to get rested - put in Belletti; someone's having a bad hair day - put in Belletti.

The day these two leave Chelsea will be a happy day. It's a pity - they both seem like top guys, especially Kalou, but at the present time, as footballers, they are worth very little.

Kalou is one of the biggest pretender out there. He did have a few good runs yesterday, once shot high over the bar, while Lampard was unmarked in the box screaming for the ball, on the other occasion just pass to ball straight to the defender in front of him. We were playing with 10, and he gave the ball everytime in good positions. This guy should have been shipped out a long time ago, I guess he is still here because :1. the budget is tight, 2 he is the countryman of Drogba. Look back at the early days of Chelsea, we sent Kazman packing after about 20 games in one season, at least that guy scored the winner in the Carling cup. Eidur and Duff were left to go with no questions asked. We loanded out Sinclair, Di Santos, who can't be that much worse than Kalou. Not sure what happened to Stu, surely you dont pay 50k a week for a player to riot in reserve.

She didn't need any pints - mind you she did need 25 bacardi and cokes.

bit harsh on belletti...he alwyas gives 100 per cent and has done a good solid job on many occasions. that's not to say he should have started against spurs in march, but he doesn't lose the ball as much as kalou...one thing I would say about him, he's clearly not used to just pumping high balls up front...could barely get it off the ground yesterday...but then we shouldn't be surprised, he's brazilian, used to playing football on the grass, not in the air

we should never have let robben or duff go,we have never replaced those guys (yes we have joe cole who is awesome),when those 2 got the ball they would always do something with it,robben had great pace and 80% managed to get a good cross in or a good pass, and duff was the same, kalou cant do that, and although malouda is playing brilliantly i dont think he is better than robben.

just thought i'd bring those 2 up to compare with kalou

totally agree ... in my opinion we just dont have any really creative players apart from Joe Cole. and if we are honest we played just average so far this season... of course we have still been winning our matchtes but it was obvious that this wont go on... i really dont like to say it but its a disgrace to watch us playing ... i just miss any attacking flair... and if Drogba wouldnt have a great season so far we would really struggle... it seems like im just unhappy about that wigan game, but thats not true. i had that feeling before too. i really miss the days with robben and duff and i miss a good 4-3-3.

last season we had quaresma but what happened ? we didnt use him ...
