February 2, 201016 yr The man from earth. Watched it again after almost two years. Beautiful film...one of my all time favorites. If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend you put this on top of your priority list.
February 2, 201016 yr Anyone seen "Where the wild things are"? I saw the trailer a long time ago and was intrieged, but I hadn't read the book. So before I finally found the film I managed to get hold of the book and read it. It's so damn short it takes like a minute to read. It was good that I did read it however because I think you have to understand it and know the feeling of the book to really like the movie. Personally I loved the movie. It had something I really can't explain, but it reached and touched (not in a bad way) my inner child. The man from earth. Watched it again after almost two years. Beautiful film...one of my all time favorites. If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend you put this on top of your priority list. I was going to see that one when it came, but for some odd reason I didn't. Gonna have to try and find it somewhere.
February 2, 201016 yr I tried to watch Where the wild things are but turned off about twenty minutes in, looked like home alone meets the Muppets to me.. I watched Daybreakers as well, not too bad a Vampire movie where the Vamps have taken over the world and are running out of Human blood.
February 4, 201016 yr watched this one yesterday: Låt den rätte komma in (2008) ---> Let the right one in (2008) absolutly great movie one of the best movies i have ever watched. can recommend it to everyone Edited February 4, 201016 yr by german-blue
February 4, 201016 yr Just watched the Firm...looked like a football factory rip off with less bareable characters, West Ham Pikeys..bunch of melts
February 6, 201016 yr Finally got around to watch Avatar and I think I can sum the movie up in one sentence: The visuals were amazing and the story and actors were mediocre. I mean, if the Lord of the Rings took the movie visuals one step further, then this has brought it even further. There were a few minor details that didn't look 100%, but overall it was amazing. The story is, however, nothing special. It has been told a hundred times before and therefore it was very predictable. It was okay, nothing more. The actors wasn't that great either. Apart from Sigourney Weaver and Giovanni Ribisi I would say that the actors were mainly big names - not big actors. I think I've seen Worthington in 3 movies now and he's looked the same in everyone of them. He is an actor who can play parts in big action movies that doesn't require great skills, but I'll be surprised if he ever wins a big award for his acting. Weaver and Ribisi are actors who might not be big names (though Weaver are still a bit famous), but I've seen them act amazingly in some movies. Neither really delivered in this one however. As for Zoe Saldana I did think she would be rather good, because she wasn't half bad in Star Trek. Unfortunatelly I thought she overacted way too much. Perhaps voice-only parts (or whatever they're called) isn't her thing. Overall it was a feast for the eyes, but that was perhaps it. If I'm generous I'd give it a 7/10
February 6, 201016 yr more hitchcock from the box sets. i watched rich & strange the other day. this was very untypical hitchcock, very much a period piece, a comedy of the times. it's worth a look but not one of his best. i thought blackmail, made only a year earlier than riich and strange, was a MUCH better film, also far more like what you'd expect from classic hitchcock. it's a good film in it's own right, and as the first ever british talkie, is also of historic interest. and yesterday i watched the thirty-nine steps, the 1935 version with Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll i have to say i really enjoyed this one. from the moment it began, in an old fashioned music hall to the ending in the london palladium, it had an old-fashioned charm - i loved the heckling! - and the story itself moved along at a cracking pace, with an outstanding cast including a cameo from john laurie later of dad's army, and the future dame peggy ashcroft as his wife.
February 7, 201016 yr Just watched Star trek, and having never seen any of the previous movies I tought it was quiet good.
February 7, 201016 yr I saw Pan's Labyrinth the other week, what an absolutely fantastic film. I was completely spellbound for the whole film. Also watched Valkyrie recently but was slightly disappointed. Why does it have Tom Cruise and Eddie Izzard cast as German Army Officers? Surely there are loads of german actors who would do a much better job? Das Boot was filmed in german using german actors and subtitled in English and was absolutely brilliant. Why couldn't the same thing be done for Valkyrie? The story is about a group of very brave men who tried to stop Hitler, and I think their story was not done justice by drafting in Hollywood Stars just to satisfy perceived box-office demand.

I agree on both movies. Pan's Labyrinth is amazing. One of my favourite movies in the last 10 years. As for Valkyrie I agree that it would have been nice with some german actors instead, but I guess that isn't the usual way to make movies in Hollywood. I think it's because there are so many out there who would prefer someone speaking english even though he/she plays a german person because they don't want to read subtitles. Tarantino didn't care when he made Inglourius Basterds (or however the title is spelt) - they spoke like four different languages in that one - but if you look at the last 10 years I don't think you'll find too many hollywood/big budget movies where they have used the real language. A shame, but there you are.
February 7, 201016 yr I just watched Sherlock Holmes. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm actually looking forward to the next one when it comes out. :)

February 7, 201016 yr Avatar 3D. Nice. :P Very good film it was. Did you watch it with the 3D glasses?
February 7, 201016 yr Yes, of course, I've watched witch 3D glasses. :) It's mesmerising in 3D, seriously.
February 9, 201016 yr Watched Law Abiding Citizen this weekend. Decent flick...one time watch. A kind of film you'd like to watch when you are really pissed at someone or something.
February 9, 201016 yr Children of Men - utter tripe No doubt the book was good but the film adaptation doesn't cut it
February 9, 201016 yr Children of Men - utter tripeNo doubt the book was good but the film adaptation doesn't cut it One of the most disappointing films I have ever seen. The concept was superb and they managed to f**k it up totally. Great pereformance from Michael Caine though.
February 9, 201016 yr Just watched the Firm...looked like a football factory rip off with less bareable characters, West Ham Pikeys..bunch of melts watched it over the wekend, nice to see the old fashions and listen to the slang (which was a little over done) apart form that not much to write home about.

Pan's Labyrinth is a fantastic film, I have watched it 3 or 4 times now, watched Valkyrie last week and agree with the limp effort on the langauge/accent side it allmost had the feel of a carry on film. Another HUGE disapointment is Surrogates staring (all though I think starrng is the exact opposite) Bruce Willis. Its a mixture of A.I. and I Robot which results in Metal Mickey meets the Muppets. Total Tripe, avoid at all costs.
February 9, 201016 yr watched it over the wekend, nice to see the old fashions and listen to the slang (which was a little over done)apart form that not much to write home about. Spot on mate, I was saying to the Missus the slang was just way over the top (hence me saying Melts in my post) but I did pick out with nostalgia some old Pringle Jumpers and Trainers I wore back in the day. I'm not mad on Football Hooligan films as an old mate of mine spent his whole life being one of the famous top dogs and I think he would have done better to put his energy into something else. I always watch them though for some unknown reason.
