Joe Hart

Featured Replies

This is not covered anywhere in the papers so technically not a rumour. However does anybody think it is worth putting in a bid for Joe Hart? I've been impressed every time I see him at Birmingham and he would make a great backup for big Pete. I'd argue that he even has more chance of breaking into our first team at present that he does of ousting Given at Citeh. Thoughts?

He's a good keeper, but so is Hilario. And besides, would Hart really want to leave a good enough team where he is first choice and come here where he will be 2nd choice and perhaps get 4-5 games in a season (and that is including CL and the cups)?

I have to admit i was impressed against Birmingham...but putting a bid in...hmmm, not sure Citeh would sell, well not until Mancini has had a look at him when he returns.

Hart is one of the very, very few good English goalkeepers around today. Green is good, but he has his days when he's awful. Carson is awful. Kirkland is good, but too injury prone. James is well...James. As it stands, I'd have him start at the World Cup.

I agree, I don't see why he'd want to sign up for a place on the bench. But how about as a possible replacement for Petr Cech?

Cech is a long way from his best, his positioning at free kicks has at times been questionable, as is his decision making, and so is not exactly designed to instil confidence into our defence.

Yeah, he's good. And he'd be an ideal replacement for the terrific Cech and Hilario. Cech could go on for a few seasons, but Hilario's getting old. And as it is certain Cech's gonna hang around for a while with us, I don't see Joe Hart signing on to warm the bench, either. We could, however, buy him from City once his loan contract expires, and then loan him off too (either to B'gham or whoever).

However, Manchester City wouldn't sell him IMO.

What is the feeling about Joe Hart at City bluemoon? With Given still in great form it is hard to see Hart displacing him any time soon. I suppose Hart will be happy staying on loan for now as long as he gets regular playing time. But I imagine he is hoping to be first choice at City sooner rather than later?

The rumours at the moment are saying that Roberto wants to take a closer look at all his options. Personally I think Joe should be our number one and grow as the team develops. I would take the odd mistake from him as I think he will benefit from learning in our system rather than someone elses. Personally, as much as I rate Given, I dont relate to him, I know that is a weird thing to say. Joe Hart is a City player, he has the character and humour. I hope he comes back at the end of the season and becomes our number one. We should never of signed Given IMHO.

There is zero intention to sell him, just to get him experience and then bring him back permanently. One more season on loan could be good and then it should be his time to shine.

I have very high hopes for Joe Hart (but then I had the same high hopes for Kirkland when he was the same age until injury put paid to his development). Hart is easily the best of the younger crop of English keepers and providing he continues to develop and avoids the injury pitfalls experienced by Kirkland then he should be Englands number one keeper for a number of years. ity's number one remains to be seen and depends on both his patience and his desire to be the best playing with the best.

Don't need him or anybody else.

Cech is still the best in the world imo and Hilario has never done anything wrong in a Chelsea shirt.

Think we should completely forget about goalkeepers/defenders when our midfield and attack are crying out for more options.

City still entertain ambitions of being our rivals in the near future so they won't sell us anybody good enough to make us stronger. However they may let us have Robinho

If we ever get of rid Cech, I guarantee we will regret it in three years time.

Goalkeepers always experience a 'second-wind' in their careers in their 30s. In three years time, Cech will regain the focus and bravery he displayed in previous seasons and on form he is unquestionably the number one goalkeeper in the world.

Im all for keeping Cech, still very young in goalkeeping terms, however you must have your bluest tinted glasses on when you write this in the present day. Yes at one stage he was, and i still think he is top5 in the world. However he most definitely is no longer the worlds best goalkeeper. I do think certain facets of his game are best in the world and he most definitely has the potential to get back to the very top again.

When you look at the likes of Cassillas and julio cesar at the moment there consistency is far greater and they both have weaker defences in front of them than we do

Unfortujnately Joe Hart is a long shot however there is another very good young keeper who would not be such a long shot and is well worth going for - Scott Loach.

Loach was the lad that conceded the goal that was actually a corner wasn't he.

Yep, he didn't cover the corner flag very well.

He's an excellent prospect.

Joe Hart is the best of the English keepers but I would not rate him ahead of any of the following Premiership keepers:-

Cech

Van der Saar

Schwarzer

Juskaleinen

Given

Friedel

Reina

Howard

I'd say he's better than Howard and possibly Jaaskeleinen, but I agree for the most part.

He's more valuable than a lot of those keepers considering his age. Particularly, Friedel, Juskaleinen, VDS and Schwarzer would probably not be chosen ahead of him by me, because they don't have too much left in them, while Hart has over a decade more in him.

Joe Hart would be a fantastic signing for us. Ive followed his career very closely for a while. One of my mates is a season ticket holder at Shrewsbury Town (there are four of them) where Hart started as a youngster, and he told me how good this lad was going to be, and I have to say he was right. Also it would help strengthen the English spine of the team.
