loz Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 The Drogs returns. Now the only question is how to accommodate him. The results while he has been away have not exactly been poor so the question is to do we stick with the formation, put Drogba in and push Anelka out wide where he is far less effective or do we return to a two up top formation (which will see the return of the diamond)?
ethicalstrategy Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Drogba back. Deco to play as the deep playmaker. 4-3-3, 4-1-2-1-2. Doesn't really matter. Both have proved effective this season and both have been ineffective. What matters is the attitude and it will need to be better than it was on Saturday. Expect Carvalho to return, Zirkhov to play at fullback and Joey to drop to the bench, unless he plays one up and rests Anelka.
The Machine Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 This would be the team that I would play against Hull tomorrow night: ---------------------Cech--------------------- --Ivanovic---Alex---J Terry-------Y Zhirkov ------Lampard-----Ballack-----J Cole------- -----Drogba-----Anelka----Malouda-------- Formation: 4-3-3
rahul Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Expect to go back to the diamond. Deco should start as defensive mid (cant believe I'm saying this), Lamps and Malouda, and then Joey at the tip. I expect Ballack to be dropped....rather I wish. At the back Carvalho and Zhirkov should start.
german-blue Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) Considering the Arsenal-match I think we should rest a few players. Ivan,Malouda, Ballack,Terry and Lampard played all of the recent matches since Preston. Problem is just that we dont have a lot of midfielders anymore. -----------------------Cech--------------------------- -----paulo------carvahlo-alex----------zhirkov---- -----------------------Deco-------------------------- ---------------Lampard--Matic---------------------- -----------Sturridge--Drogba--Kalou--------------- Subs: Hilario, JT, Ivan, Ballack Joey, Kakuta, Borini, Edited February 1, 2010 by german-blue
Mikstaw Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 4-3-3!!!! ---------------------Cech--------------------- --Ivanovic---Alex---J Terry-------Y Zhirkov ------Lampard-----Ballack-----J Cole------- -----Anelka-----Drogba----Malouda--------
Mikstaw Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 No, he isn't. I think that he must rest before game againsit Arsenal.
kalpitv Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Is Ash Cole out injured? I doubt we'll take a risk on him even if he's fit. Expect Zhirkov at LB.
Cam Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I have no complaints with Zhirkov getting a game, I just wanted to know if I was missing something. I know he took a knock in the game, but I thought from the fact everyone named Zhirkov that Ash may have been ruled out. It's good he hasn't though, definately need him for Arsenal.
Andreas Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Need these 3 points, expecting an easy win but you never know. Same as against burnley, just fit drogba in to get some playtime before arse.
The Moos Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Not sure if we'll continue playing 4-3-3 now. I think Ancelotti will prefer to have Anelka and Drogba as a central pairing up front and not putting one of them out wide, even though we've seen them both drift out wide in every game so far. I think we've going to play 4-4-2 with diamond midfield against Arsenal and therefore I would not be surprised to see it in this game as well. Cech in goal. Defensive line: Ivan - Riccy - JT - Yuri (not sure how fit Ashley is and whether Carlo want to risk losing him for the game against Le A*se). Holding midfielder: Deco? He's done quite well there so far. Mikel surely isn't back in the squad yet, Ballack been rubbish, Belletti and Essien are injured. Let's go with Deco. Central midfielders: Lampard & Malouda? Tip of diamond: Joey? Strikers: Drogba and Anelka. On the other hand Carlo might rest a few players for our big game later this week. I doubt it, but I would not mind seeing Kakuta and/or Matic get some time in this game. Final note. Is that b*stard H*nt still at Hull or has he left? He seems to like scoring on us, but this time I really hope we'll leave the pitch in agony. Where is Essien when you need him? If Hull will score a goal then I really hope it's Bullard who gets it.
The Blue Train Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Don't think we'll see a whole lot of youngster action tomorrow except for Sturridge. Borini, Kakuta and Matic seem to be involved in the reserve game against Aston Villa. I'd prefer the diamond (crazy talk, I know) before the 4-3-3, just so we can get used to it again before the Arsenal game where I assume we'll put Drogba and Anelka up top in a 4-diamond-2. The thing with the diamond is who to put at the top of it. Cole has been proven to be very ineffective there compared to playing on the wing. Lampard and Malouda don't really thrive in that position either. Deco would seem to be the obvious choice, but with Essien and Belletti out and Ballack being utter turd in the defensive midfielder position I guess that's where Deco will be located. Anelka to drop to the tip of the diamond and play Sturridge alongside Drogba? :D
BrewCrew Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Kakuta, Borini, and Matic are playing on the Reserve team today so they probably won't be in the lineup tomorrow. Kalou is back and will probably will be on the bench with Sturridge. Kakuta hasn't been on the bench in a while. Matic may be on the bench, but just as a emergency until Mikel gets back.
icecoolguy22 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 3 points tomorrow is as good as 3 points on Sunday. We are not as sold as we used to be in the back, so there is always a chance they can sneak one past us. I don't think we can afford resting too many
BigIzz Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I say bring back the diamond. I like the idea of trying Deco at defensive mid as well, and I guess I'd try Joe Cole at the tip. I'd like to see if Cole can translate his excellent form into the playmaker role. I'd start Lampard and Ballack at the other midfield sports, Zirkhov at LB and start Carvahlo at the back. We can always switch things up if it isn't clicking but I like us playing a diamond against Arsenal more than a 4-3-3, all things being equal.
clubhappy Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 This is a big a game as Sundays, very important we get 3 points as its our game in hand.
mimilee Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I don't think this will be an easy game, so I hope Ancelotti uses a strong enough starting XI. Seeing we'll only play on Sunday against Le Arse, there may be enough time for our main players to recover.
ozboy Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 This is Hull not Arsenal and we want the three points. Drogs obviously needs at least a one match tune up before Arsenal. On the other hand Anelka may need a bit of rest, so 60 minutes could be enough for him. Joe should continue play at least 60 minutes as he does seem to be running into form. I'd have Mikel on the bench at least, he may well be required in the Arsenal game. Deco offers nothing defensively as the holding midfielder and will probably run out of steam but does look more creative in that role than Ballack. So I have Sturridge, Ballack and Mikel on the bench to come on after say 60 minutes replacing Anelka, Joe Cole and Deco respectively.
Gem Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 This is a big a game as Sundays, very important we get 3 points as its our game in hand. Spot on, this is a huge game, we're the only team playing and it will bring us level on games.
rahul Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 The Moos-I think that Hunt is still in Hull. Yes they rejected a 5m bid from Wolves yesterday. I hope JT kicks the lumps out of the c**t just to feel better.
geezer Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Yes they rejected a 5m bid from Wolves yesterday. I hope JT kicks the lumps out of the c**t just to feel better. I'd get a lot more satisfaction if it were Petr who kicked lumps out of him - and that's just during the handshake ceremony at the beginning of the game.
Bridgeboy Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Break a leg Hunt you c**t ! Bring back chopper ! Looking forward to seeing Drogba again, hope he is still fit and on top of his game.
ABDERRAHMANE Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 chelsea needs 3 point and we should not to think about arsenal we should just think about match of hull city . chelsea should play with the best players because three points are not guaranteed. cech ivanovic alex terry zhirkov ballack lampard deco anelka drogba malouda
