I find the more Chelsea players in the National team the more interest I have in it and the more important Englands results become.

easy answer is until England have as many Chelsea players as Chelsea, Chelseas results will mean more.

I would love to see England win the World Cup though and being in France all through the last World Cup made me even more Patriotic somehow.

This will be as emphatic as the league versus champions league debate.

Clearly, it's Chelsea. Not even close.

England matches are a chore , my only interest in them is to see if the Chelsea players played well because if they didn't I know I will have to spend the next week defending them.

a q for the older ones on here...(1970's and earlier in my case)

has there always been a divide between club and country...?

eg: hate Terry and Lampard cos they are Chels so will not support them in the national team.

has the premiership made us less patriotic cos of our club and players?

I have had a hard time being as interested in England as I was when I was a kid, in the 70 World cup I wasn't so bothered as I am now about players from opposition clubs being hard to cheer for and that as most things is down to media coverage..I never knew anything about he players bar who they played for and I never saw them or their private lives splattered acroos the papers with the media stirring things up between opposition fans and clubs like the lead up to an Ali title fight.

I have only since the last WC started to be able to get enthused about the national team and that was because I was in France for the duration and never read papers but talked to a lot of the locals about the game, being English abroad made me want the team to do well more than any time since I was a kid, I think that will carry on now.

I used to actually get the raving hump when Gerrard got MOM for appearing to do no more than anyone else but I have matured enough to know that if Lamps got it for a lesser contribution I would have been well happy.

HA Chelsea anyday and it is the same with most fans in this country. Engladn are pants, we won the world cup like a billion years ago and won;t win it for another billion years, by the time we win it next Mars will probably be included as team.

Surely your level of support shouldn't really be connected to how good or poor they are - both at international and club level.

Personally I care a lot about England however Chelsea always come first by a long way.

Chelsea over Germany (I pull for the Germans).

I will say that I find myself rooting for Chelsea players on other teams. I want to see the Ivory Coast do well because of Drogs and Kalou. I'd like to see England do well because of Lamps, JT, and Ash (if he's back). The list can go on.

That's how I know it's club over country for me.
