Yep Ian Wright actually wrote this article!

Strange when you can see what he is saying for a change, while the other papers are still talking nonsense.

Chelsea are the real United

THE Premier League has gone a bit haywire this season.

In other years, six or seven defeats would have been too many for Chelsea and Manchester United.

Yet, strangely, both can still win the title.

I think most would agree that neither team has been outstanding and it will probably go down to the final day.

In terms of which of the two deserves to be crowned champions, though, I would say this.

United have not played as well during this campaign and, take Wayne Rooney out of the team, they are weaker.

There have not been too many occasions this season when they have got me on the edge of my seat.

While putting seven goals past Aston Villa, Sunderland and now Stoke, Chelsea have not been sensational.

But they have been more of a team and have overcome various obstacles which have been thrown in their way.

People are having a go at them, calling them the Chelsea Pensioners and stuff like that. I think this is really disrespectful. Downright rubbish, in fact.

It is their wealth of experience which has helped them lead the table by one point with two games to go.

Yes, I would like to see a few more exciting players coming through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.

Yet Chelsea's current position at the top is testament to the players who are still hungry enough to win the Premier League, despite so many of them being aged over 30.

They are nowhere near as strong without the excellent Michael Essien, while John Terry has hardly enjoyed the best of seasons - both on and off the pitch.

But they have still fought hard and got themselves into such a strong position.

The team are pulling together and quite clearly playing for their manager, Carlo Ancelotti.

Equally, I think Ancelotti deserves some credit for ensuring Chelsea have successfully hung in there, despite delivering some disappointing results.

The trip to Liverpool will be tough. I have heard one or two fans on Merseyside saying they would prefer to see their team lose to Chelsea so it would have an effect on their rivals United.

But Rafa Benitez, who needs a few decent results of his own, will be desperate to win on Sunday.

As for the other Champions League spots, I think Arsenal, who have still played some good football at times, deserve to take the third place and Tottenham fourth.

Spurs are in a battle with Manchester City for that final slot. But when you consider the amount both teams have spent on players, I think it is fair to say Harry Redknapp's men deserve it.

City have spent so much over the last two seasons, yet I think they may have to settle for a tilt at the Europa League.

Equally, in Michael Dawson and Ledley King, Spurs have two centre-backs who I would be more than comfortable seeing in the England squad at the World Cup in South Africa.

Aston Villa are another team who have fallen short. But I still believe, with just another two or three experienced players, they will be more of a force next season.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Birmingham and their manager Alex McLeish deserve a lot of praise.

They were unlucky against Villa at the weekend. Birmingham are a decent team and their centre-backs Roger Johnson and Liam Ridgewell were outstanding.

I also really think Barry Ferguson is a terrific player, who deserves more credit.

Birmingham are a club going places and I think next season, adding a few more quality signings, they could really push on and start thinking about a European place. Right now, I also love the atmosphere at St Andrews'. For the first time in a while, all the fans are behind everyone at the club, which is obviously extremely important.

The three teams who will go down - Hull, Burnley and Portsmouth - can have no complaints whatsoever.

Portsmouth have had a nightmare from start to finish. It is just amazing Avram Grant has got them to the FA Cup final against his former club Chelsea.

I still cannot believe quite how this club has ended up about £120million in debt.

Phil Brown lost his way at Hull and I think whoever they appointed after his departure, the team were always going down.

Burnley were always going to be too weak and I never saw them lasting more than one year.

Their problems are a warning to any club which gets promoted to the Premier League for the first time and is hoping for first-year consolidation. It certainly is not that easy.

So for a change, hats off to him for a balanced write-up!

You forgot the 'important' part of the article:

Lamps left in the shade

FRANK LAMPARD has weighed in with a hefty goals tally for Chelsea. Yet again.

Any top-class striker would be delighted with 25 goals yet Frank does this season after season.

He has scored 20 of those in the Premier League, which is two more than Jermain Defoe and Fernando Torres. People talk about Bobby Zamora going to the World Cup and he has scored just eight league goals.

Frank may not be playing at his best but his contribution in the goals department is still staggering.

For this reason, combined with such consistency over the years, I found it absolutely staggering that he was not on the four-man shortlist for the PFA awards.

I'm amazed not more professionals voted for him.

But for Frank, it will be a special moment if he ends up with another winner's medal.

Few will argue that in terms of consistency and quality, he takes some beating.

I couldn't beleive thie either, I had to double take when I was reading it. Im not Ian Wrights biggest fan but must admit he has it spot on in this particular article.
