Which goal....

Featured Replies

With only 1 point between us and manure at the end, we can look back over the season and remember some of the crucial (with hindsight) goals.

Which goal do you see as the most crucial to us winning the Premiership this season.

Heres all the games to help jog your memory.

Maybe it was JT's goal away to Burnley, 82nd minute winner to snatch all 3 points ?

Or maybe Joe's back heel winner up at OT ?

I had completley forgot about our first league game of the season, at home to Hull, now on present day form you would probably predict a 7-0 or even more result, but it took a 91st min goal from Drogba to snatch all 3 points. Looking back on our next 18 home league games after Hull we won 17 and lost 1, considering this Drogbas 91st min goal against Hull goes down as my 'most important goal of the season'.

in a season of so many ups and downs - i think first place changed over 20 times - i don't think it's possible to pinpoint a single goal, or even a single goal. there were times when we looked like we could run away with the league, there were other times when we looked to have blown it, and the same almost goes for man u.

received wisdom stated that they always put a run together after christmas. well they did. but so did we. they also slipped a couple of times, as did we. and so it went on and on and on till the very last day of the season, when as we all know the title was ours to lose, hence the large amount of "i'm a nervous bleedin' wreck" type comments leading up to today's game!

One of the biggest goals for us this season, and a truly defining moment in my eyes is when we were playing pompey and really struggling to break them down and david james missed the ball for drogba ti just tap in. You could see the tension leave the players and it was the goal that really got the momentum going for the run in

In a race as close as this one there are a lot of "what ifs..." I had forgotten about Terry's goal against Burnley, that was huge.

Some other big ones...

JT's goal at the Bridge against Man Utd.

The two goals in the home fixture against Fullham. We were losing 0-1 for a long time in that match until Drogba and Own Goal (yes Own Goal of Man Utd fame) gave us a quick decisive margin

The penalty Ivanovic drew and Lampard converted that gave us a late win against Portsmouth

But I'll go with Cole's goal at OT

Exactly my thought, we looked pretty lose at the time and needed a moment of brillance or a mistake to get us going again. We had no luck in matches leading up to that, it was well deserved in a way.

The first goal yesterday, relaxed everyone and took the pressure right off. I dread to think how nervous everyone would have been had it got to half time 0-0.

Drogbas goal at home against Hull. think that was quiet a big one to be fair.

I'll go with this one as well. It was very early in the season, and set the tone for the rest of the season, just like Crespo's goal against Wigan late in injury time in 2006(?), which set the tone for that champsionship season. Of course, all of the goals in the two ManU games were big, especially Joe Cole's backheel goal.
