Which games were our best performance and most important

Featured Replies

Which games do you think were our best performance and most important:

Best performance

Chelsea 7 Aston Villa 1 - even though we won 8-0 against Wigan, 7-0 against stoke and 7-2 against Sunderland I think the best performance was the one against Villa, we were so strong that game and the performance of Lampard was his best of the season

Most important game

Well there's no doubt it was the win at Old Trafford which we fully deserved to win. Fergie can moan all day long about Drogba's goal been offside (I like how its always forgotten that Macheda's goal was handball) we dominated the game and took a firm grip on the title that day.

Arsenal 0 vs Chelsea 3 - up until our demolitions in the 2nd half of the season i thought this was our best performance. Drogba was immense aswas Ashley Cole and we totally dominated the gunners from start to finish.

Chelsea 8 vs Wigan 0 - winning the title in style was incredible, a second half hattrick for Drogba was the icing on the Premier League cake.

Chelsea 7 vs Stoke 0 - Amazing display we scored some of the best goals of the season in that game and we got a treat of a sneak peak at some of our youth players.

Most important

Chelsea 1 vs Man Utd 0 - We were completely dominated in this game but we knicked a goal and took away the vital 3 points.

Liverpool 0 vs Chelsea 2 - This is the win that confirmed we were champions for me, at this stage I think everyone including Ferguson knew the title was ours.

Definitely our least impressive performance against any of the usual "Big 4", but I wouldn't say we were dominated - did United ever really look like scoring? 0-0 would've been the fairest result.

Well maybe not but we were awful in that game. I remember they had a few oppurtunities in that game.

Agree with the original post and yeah in a fair world the home United game was really a stalemate and luck produced the points for us there (though my sympathy for the questionable free kick is completely voided by Evan's drop kick on Drogba's chest). I love how we've beaten United in every encounter this season in all competitions.

some magic results high scores, but for performance for me was sunderland away we played brilliant, 1 nil down won 1-3, most inportant, getting knocked out champs league, thats what moved us on go on the CHELSEA DOUBLE.............

Hmmm, not sure about that. The final result somewhat clouds the story i think. If you think back to the game up till the two goals i dont think we were actually playing too well and Arsenal were passing and moving confidently.. I could be wrong ( i was most likely drunk!) but it would be interesting to go back to the match thread from that day and see what was being posted up till around 40 mins.

Obviously 2nd half we bullied them but i think it was actually a bit closer first half than you remember.

I'm not sure that any of the match threads are a very reliable indicator of anything other than the score. During the match is not the best time for any meaningful analysis! If you look at any thread in which we are losing or not winning and you'd think that our players would be lucky to get a game for Aldershot. One goal goes in and all of sudden we are world beaters ::ChELSeAFaN::

On the Arsenal match. I remember watching it with my buttocks firmly clenched until the third goal went in. But if you watch the match back we were in complete control.

The way I remember the Arsenal game was that they had a lot of Arsenal football (i.e. pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass lose possession) whereas as we had a lot more pass pass pass shoot.

i.e. we were far more effective in possession and were fairly well in control even when they had possession.

Best performance

I would agree it was the 7-1 over Villa. That was breath taking to watch - unless you are Charlie Nicholas who claimed VIlla were the better team!

Most important game

For me, without a shadow of doubt, the win at Old Trafford - not just for the points but also to knock the stuffing out of them a bit and also get a bit of self belief flowing amongst the players.

Burnley away was very important. Our season looked as if it was on the verge of imploding with the JT affair but he stepped up to the plate with a late winner. Stoke away comes to mind aswell with malouda stealing 3 points in stoppage time.. Games we were expected to win easily but had to dig out the 3 points.

fully agree, we knew it, they knew it and f*cking fagface knew it too!

I second you on that mate. There were many games where we got late goals and got 3 points instead of settling down for 1 point and in the end it proved out to be crucial as league was won by solitary 1 point.

I am sure Manure must be cursing themselves big time now that they did draw in their important match against Rovers when the title race was wide open.

Also worth mentioning is Petr's PK save against Everton, saved us some points that ended up being pretty important in the end.

We lost that game 2-1.

Great moment for Petr though, I never fancy him to save a pen so really pleased for him when he pulls it off.
