Hi all!

Wanted you to inform about an upcoming pre-season game, confirmed by several sites

Confirmed on the webpage of Ajax: http://www.ajax.nl/Nieuws/Laatste-nieuws/N...ea-in-ArenA.htm (Dutch only).

[link removed]

And on a newspapersite: http://www.ad.nl/ad/nl/1441/Ajax/article/d...sopwarmer.dhtml

Together with the open day for fans, Ajax will play a friendly match in the Amsterdam Arena on 23-7-2010. Probably the game will start in the late afternoon or evening.

It will be the last serious game for Ajax played before the qualifications of the Champions League. This game is hosted instead of the traditional Amsterdam Tournament, where Arsenal was a regular participator.

Any fans joining for the game and a weekend of Amsterdam?

Can't afford this one unfortunately, flights too expensive with the match being so close to a planned holiday.

Should be a good game though, a Friday night too. Would be perfect for a weekends stay in the 'Dam.

:)

I'm starting to fear that luring Chelsea fans is going to be more successful than luring Chelsea supporters to Amsterdam :(

Anyone hear any news of other Chelsea matches?

Last couple years they have played in America...wondering if this year is the same.

So far they've announced matches against Crystal Palace, Eintracht Frankfurt, HSV and Ajax, so it seems like the team will spend the pre-season in Europe this year.

Metro tunnel closed from

July 10 - August 15

During the above mentioned period our metros will not be able to use the metro tunnel between Central Station and Amstel Station. The City of Amsterdam will be replacing technical facilities and safety features in the tunnel.

Shuttle bus 59 ‘Metrodienst’ between Central Station and Amstel Station GVB shuttle bus 59 runs via the metro stations which are not in use. Please use the bus only if your destination is one of those stations: the number of passengers the bus can accommodate is limited compared to the metro. The long shuttle buses regretfully can not serve Nieuwmarkt, as the streets are too narrow.

So get the 59 bus to Amstel Station then get the metro number 54 to Bijlmer Station which is next to the Arena or just get the train from Central Station to Bijlmer Station which is the easy way :JC_doubleup:

Maybe I have an active imagination, but does anyone think that we might have agreed to play Ajax in an away friendly as part of a deal to sign Luis Suarez?

I heard a little rumour that Chelsea had tied up a deal for Suarez before the World Cup but could not announce until Uruguary had been knocked out. I only just made the connection in my mind :)

Does it sound possible, you think?
