With Man City about to sign Toure and Silva on four year deals. Barcelona signing Villa, bidding for Fabregas and looking at Ozil as an alternative. Real Madrid already snapping up Di Maria and make no mistake gunning for Ashley Cole - a deal that looks more likely since the latest press revelations this morning.

These three clubs stand between us and challenging seriously for the Champions League and regaining the title. I really believe Man City cannot fail with their financial muscle in the future, to win the Premiership.

I've had a monkey with Corals at 7/1 for next year, started to lay back on betfair at 7.2 already, they will go a lot shorter, use the spare to back Chelsea ... happy days !

I'm excited by our young players coming through, but i'd love to see JT lifting the jug with big ears, he and Lamps deserve the financial backing in the transfer market to keep us at the top.

For me, we are still finding it hard to tie up deals because of the scars in place from the inept negotiating skills of Peter Kenyon. The daft contracts in place, with no planning for renewal until it's too late.

The Silva deal proves the World Cup is no barrier, we shouldn't be waiting for the players we want to get knocked out and come home. We will be beaten to the punch for sure.

...

Ozil should be our NO1 priority, lets get the deal done.

The Ashley Cole deal looks "likely" ? - Behave.

I agree we need to be quick. But we won't be, so what's the use? We all know we need to get people in ASAP but we just don't operate that way anymore.

I think Star has a point. Whether the window is open or not, some big deals have already been done. Villa and Silva have often been mentioned in connection with Chelsea but both have gone elsewhere. The Silva case is particularly disappointing if we were interested (although who is to know?)

I don't think we will be looking to make any more than one "big name" signing. Whether that is a good or bad thing we will have to wait and see. But if we are after someone in particular then I don't see why we can't get out there and sort it now rather than faffing about until the last minute.

Yeah, i agree i think they should really. It always seems as we are taking a laid back approach when it comes to signing players but we never really know what's going on behind the scenes. I'll only panic when i see Aguero, Ozil, Hamsik, Schweinsteiger, Milner and even Torres sold to different clubs. If we don't get our hands on any of them at all well it would just be :JC_doubledown:

Is the window even open yet?

No, and as Chelsea`s policy is not to comment on any transfer rumours whats to say the club havent already identified their targets and are actually far into negotiations.

that's right. City haven't signed Silva yet, all they've done is "reached an agreement". with what they're offering i can't see them being outbid somehow in which case it's effectively a done deal.

Following this way, we haven't sell Stoch yet, because till 1 July he is Chelsea player...

And your point is? We have no idea of knowing what Chelsea are doing on the transfer front, like i said the policy is not to comment on transfers until they are finalised (or near as damn it). As far as we know they might be just about ready to drop 4 new players on us as much as they are likely to have no signings at all.

I have a strange feeling Silva won't do that well, or at least won't live up to the huge price tag. I don't see why they signed him when they could have worked on whipping Robinho into shape. Then they could have spent that £30m+ on getting a half-decent left back.

i'm not exactly disagreeing with you. merely stating that no contracts have been signed yet. Silva is as good as gone to City but as you imply, we might well be in the process of negotiating various deals, none of which are likely to become public knowledge at this stage.

Sorry, misunderstood. And i agree with Plok to an extent, im yet to be convinced he will flourish in the prem like some expect.

You know Gerrard had done everything but signed the papers to come here.....but what happened?

Who cares if these guys are going to the money or the clubs they prefer. I'd rather we hold out and get a quality player who actually wants to play for our club or actually bases their moved based on where they think they will make the biggest legacy at (get the most trophies).....all these players going to where the money is,.....well I'd rather they dont come here anyways.

I think this England team just proved that it doesnt matter what collection of talent you have, if the heart and/or the drive is not their.....well neither will the trophies!

I reckon joe cole is gone to city aswell.

I wonder if he`s always wanted to play for them.

What "latest revelations" about Ashley Cole? The same boring sh*t from the Daily Mail about him and Gerrard, or the fact that he was pictured doing something other than smiling on the plane back to England? Real Madrid always get their big name, and in Di Maria they have made a misstep. If Ashley Cole would rather be in Spain then so be it.

Barcelona are already loaded with talent and are just adding players like villa who have a hard on for them. We were never in that race because its becoming obvious that La Liga is hoovering up all the world's best talent. Hiddink and Mourinho showed they can be beaten in Europe.

Man City are just signing everyone with the aim of putting together a winner, yet they still dont have a convincing defense or manager, imo. I am fine with them picking up a billion great players, because they can only play 11 at a time, and the rest will get bored and leave. They are also panicking becuase they are worried about financial fair play and all that nonsense.

Just because all these clubs are doing something it doesnt mean we should panic. For all intents and purposes they have unlimited budgets, but we are stuck with some financial responsibility now. And buying someone like Ozil, after he has had a great world cup, would be doomed from the start. The aforementioned clubs would come rushing in as soon as Werder made our interest public and suddenly we would be in a bidding war we couldnt win.
