ewitkows Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 With his play so far this year it looks like the old Cech(pre head injury ) is back. I think his health holds the key to how far we go this year. Also I really think we need another CB in January. As much as I hate buying then, I don't see a club with ambition to win 3 major trophies going at it with 3 CB.
Bobbywoodhogan Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Long may he stay hes been superb this year, he must save us about 15 points a season
Scooby Blue Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 He's looked excellent this season so far. Tonight was probably one of his best performances for the club, and long may his form continue. Any confidence issues are hopefully long behind him.

You dont see many clubs with 3 world class CBs and you risk alienating one of them into leaving if you crowd the ship(as almost happened with Ivan....and I think you better haves Ivan signature before you make noises of securing another CB). I think we need to give Bruma some piitch time before we decide if we truely need another CB......but at the same time, we will need one within 2 seasons regardless how Bruma turns out as JT will be getting to the part of his career where in order to get the best of him his appearances will need to start getting more spread out. No more 3 matches in 10 days for a CB who was never very fast to start with! The plus is that the best part of JTs game gets better with age, the reading of it....shame the legs wont keep up with the mind!
sizzler85 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I do believe Cech is back big time seeing his performances this season . He is playing confidently like never before and showing us why he was called the best GK in the world before his injury . As far as the CB scenario , we cannot buy more quality CB's and put them on the bench .. It will be wise of us to try and give more chances to Bruma to help him develop into top class player .
ewitkows Posted October 20, 2010 Author Posted October 20, 2010 I think there will be plenty of playing time for a 4th CB. With Champions league, FA Cup and the league they would easily be able to get 10-15 games. Plus it would help to rest JT a game or 2 to make sure he makes it till May in 1 piece. Ivan could get some starts at RB and if one of the CBs needed to be sub'd bossy could come in and Ivan goes to CB.
sleepy_gonzalez Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 by all accounts Bruma is set to be a top player, and Carlo looks to be willing to give our young players a fair amount of playing time. When Bos is back, if he comes back strong we may see ivan covering at CB more often - this will cut down the amount of game time Bruma can get, especially now we're out of the carling cup, and we definitely don't need another cb to complicate things. but yeah, cech is looking great, long may it continue!
Barn Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 You're right Cech this season has been excellent, it's good to have the real Petre Cech back. As for CB, I think to have three of the best in the league, plus a kid that has already made his full debut for the Dutch is pretty much spot on. There's no doubt questions will be asked of Bruma this year, but without those questions he'd never get to prove himself.
Cam Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 There's no doubt we couldn't sign more than a squad player of a CB or we'd lose one of our top three. But on Cech, he's certainly looking more confident. I'm not nearly as concerned as I was when I see him coming out for crosses and what not. If he gets injured, we're still boned though.
Liam Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 It's makes me laugh remembering Gullit4's ridiculous "Flip, Flappy, Flap" thread last year. No wonder he's buggered off. Cech is undeniably back to his best and it's given us a solid look we haven't had in 2 seasons.
KrazyTea Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I'm not completely sold that he has returned to original Cech just yet, but there have sure been signs that he may of. I hope this form continues as I have been worried over the last couple years that Cech may not quite ever recover to his old self.

Exactly the way I see it with the CBs, we can't have things always and if we want to bring some good young players through we can't expect to have any more than 3 world class players in front of them, I thought at the time we would miss Riccy and still think we will but we have got to draw a line somewhere and I think Bruma has earned his place as second back up CB. cech is starting to make me feel confident again, last night I never felt for a minute we would concede and he made a lot of the shots and crosses look worse than they were by being perfectly positioned to pluck them out of the air...its a warm feeling.
Barn Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 its a warm feeling. You've just pissed yourself again mate!
Chippy Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 You've just pissed yourself again mate! Can't happen mate...oh no the Cups fell off again :D

He would be a replacement for Alex if he would be injured... Bossy is back, so we don't have any problems with our defense nowadays...
ozboy Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Cech's greater confidence has been quite noticeable this year. Particularly seems willing to put body on the line in a way that he wasn't in thet past couple of seasons. He is a great asset and easy to underestimate when we are scoring at the other end. I'm sure he makes the defence play better just as they help him.
mad_mac Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Already voted for him as a Man Of the Match a couple of times this season. Really great to see him comand his area again. And I might add, our CB set up is superb right now
