Hutch Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 No credible sources as yet, just tribalfootball and goal.com reporting a story from Gazetta dello Sport. However, given the Italian connections, I'd say the rumour is at least vaguely plausible: Parma locked in Chelsea talks for Borini Gazzetta dello Sport says Borini is set to leave Chelsea as he comes off contract in June. Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi hopes to burn off all competition by making a cash offer for Borini in January. Ghirardi is counting on Parma's good relationship with Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti to swing the deal in their favour. LINK
cfckeane Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I wouldn't be adverse to this, as it'd definitely benefit the lads career. He hasn't had much of a chance to shine in the first-team, and I can't see it happening in the near future. In his interests it'd probably be better for him to move.
Scooby Blue Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2191069,00.html He did ok for the reserves today. Scored all 5 in a 5-4 win
PloKoon13 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 He's only 19 (two months younger than me) and is pretty damn good for his age. I'd like to hang onto him. How often is it that a 19-year-old is captain of the Champions' reserve team and can score five goals in one away game?
Maverick Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 He seems to have dropped in the pecking order as compared to last year where he did see a lot more game time. The injury dint help his cause either but given his goals in the reserves its highly likely to get a run in the cup games.
Bobbywoodhogan Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I don't think he's right for us with us playing a solo strilker, this would be a good move for the lad.
mad_mac Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I seem to remember a story like this before. Something about him going back to an Italian club. Maybe he didn't go to Russia because they knew he was needed in the Ressies?
Tim W Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 He scored 5 last night so he hasn't forgotten where the goal is
ABDERRAHMANE Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 He did not get chance to play for the first team and he has we should buy him in January or he will move free in summer . i wish him all the best
Hutch Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 This is from Tribal football so how reliabile it may or may not be is anyone's guess: Parma president Ghirardi eager to close deal for Chelsea striker BoriniParma president Tommaso Ghirardi is moving for Chelsea striker Fabio Borini. Borini has rejected a new contract offer from the Blues and can leave as a free agent in June. With Parma deep in the relegation mire, Ghirardi doesn't have time to wait until then and will make a January offer for Borini. Borini was in Italy a fortnight ago to see Parma play AS Roma. LINK
Guest Sindre Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 He is definitly going so i guess Parma might be a nice club for him. Will probably help to go back to his home-country, and although i never tought that he had the qualities to make it over here i hope he gets a nice career over there.
The Moos Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I thought he looked good the few times he got to play for the first team, but now he seems a long way away from the first team. I would prefer us to send him out on loan to Parma and then see what happens.
Andreas Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Parma would be interesting, could learn a thing or two from crespo, I would recommend a loan.
big blue Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 very disappoiting. him and nouble were devastating in the reserves 2 seasons ago and weve lost both 1 for free and 1 pretty much free.
dkw Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Might not be going anywhere after all:- http://msnsport.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6511199,00.html
Hutch Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 Might not be going anywhere after all:- http://msnsport.skys...6511199,00.html I hope he stays. His goalscoring record for the reserves is outstanding, he's still only 19 and Carlo rates him highly. In fact if it wasn't for a couple of recent setbacks due to injury, I'm sure he would have spent more time with the first team squad, and may well have got some decent playing time.
TheWestwayWonder Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 What are his numbers like at Parma?
Hutch Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Another misleading headline from Sky. Reading "Agent expects Borini to stay, I naturally assumed he meant stay with Chelsea, but according to this article,.the agent is merely stating that he wouldn't be surprised if Borini stayed in the Premier League. I'm not sure about this frozen out talk either. Borini had a couple of long spells out injured, which must surely have delayed his progress. In fact as is so often the case, it's difficult to know just how much of the article is nothing more than the agent acting the mouthpiece: Agent expects Borini to stayChelsea's young Italian striker not ready to head home Fabio Borini is expected to stay in England despite being frozen out at Chelsea. The 19-year-old Italian striker has been linked with a move back to his homeland after contract talks stalled in the summer. He made eight appearances during the course of last season and despite some impressive form in the reserves, he is yet to feature this term. The Under 21 international joined Chelsea from Bologna in 2007 and is out of contract in the summer. Parma have been strongly linked with the youngster, who is currently recovering from shoulder surgery, while Lazio and Juventus are also thought to be monitoring the situation. But his agent, Marco De Marchi, is confident he will earn a new deal in England, either from Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti or one of their Premier Legaue rivals. "At this time Fabio's just thinking about his rehabilitation from injury," he told calciomercato.com. Disappointed "The boy is disappointed by the behaviour of Chelsea, which put him out of the squad despite the excellent things he did last season. "Parma are interested in Borini but it's not only them. That's normal for a player of the Under-21 national team, who has experience at international level and is out of contract in 2011. "Ancelotti has great respect for him, and this affects a lot. He would return with pleasure to Italy but it is not necessary yet. "The boy grew up in England and he loves English football. We will evaluate the offers that will come but I wouldn't be surprised if he stays in the Premier League." LINK

This is probably one of those rare occasions where one could question the club's approach/ attitude towards a young international player. Last year we showed a lot of confidence in him and he was at par with many of our youngsters in the pecking order. Its more disheartening to see Borini treated in this manner whereas on the other hand we continue to play Kakuta who is in a similar scenario. I have no issues with us bargaining hard while handling contracts but this saga really stinks and I hope the lad goes on to have a brilliant career (either with us or elsewhere). Hutch Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 According to his agent, Borini is as good as gone: Borini closer to Parma moveAgent discussing transfer away from Chelsea for striker Fabio Borini's agent believes Parma are the 'ideal solution' as the striker prepares to leave Chelsea. The teenager has made just eight appearances during his Chelsea career and is widely expected to return to his native Italy in January. He has failed to agree a contract extension at Stamford Bridge and has attracted interest from Parma, Lazio and Roma. His representative Marco De Marchi believes Borini's career would be best served by securing a move and is keen to finalise an agreement with Parma. "The transfer to Parma is not official yet, but the situation is well advanced with the Gialloblu," De Marchi told Radio Mana Mana. "In recent months, there was interest in the boy from Lazio and Roma, but Parma have advanced things. "Despite the esteem Ancelotti has for him, when an agreement with Chelsea wasn't reached to renew his contract, it was decided to find a different solution. "Fabio needs a reality that allows him to make the most of his quality, a club with a very specific technical project and Parma, in this sense, is the ideal solution. "In the coming days there will be meetings to define the situation." LINK
