PloKoon13 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I found some team news for this game, so I thought it might be appropriate to get the thread going. According to Ancelotti, Alex, Anelka and Lampard will all return for this fixture: http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/light-at-the-end-of-a-long-tunnel-for-lamps "Lampard has begun training with the squad once more and Ancelotti is confident he will be fit enough to play against Sunderland. "I think he'll be okay for Sunday," said the Chelsea boss. "He started to train two days ago with the team. "He doesn't have a problem, is showing confidence. I hope he will be ready, not necessarily to play for 90 minutes but just to be involved in the squad. "If he's okay, he can start. I don't think he will be able to play 90 minutes, but he can play part of the game - he can do that." Ancelotti will also have Brazilian defender Alex and striker Nicolas Anelka fit again for the Sunderland match after they missed out against Fulham." After a tough victory against Fulham, we should be looking for a convincing win over Sunderland to follow that up. A 7-2 win at the Bridge last season, as well as a dominant second half display at the Stadium of Light which gave us a 3-1 win makes us believe it's possible.
ozboy Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Sunderland are a fair side, particularly with guyan and wellbeck up front however we are at home again which is always a good start. I wonder how Bossy pulled up from the Fulham game? Given that Alex is back the problem of who to play at right back is up there. I'd be inclined to give to give Ivan a go since Bossy played the full game virtually. Up front it will be back to Anelka and Drogba sounds like Lampard will start, as will Mikel and Malouda. Lampard has historically played on the left of midfield which doesn't leave room for Zhirkov and suggests Ramires would start. cech ivan alex terry cole mikel lampard zhiirkov malouda anelka drogba subs: bossy, ramires, kalou, sturridge and some others
The Moos Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Lampard has been out for over two months I think and has started training a couple of days ago. Is it really possible that he will start the game? If he does then I wouldn't mind having Zhirkov to the right. Maybe he can take more shots then. But I guess Ramires will play, since he's more of an Essien type of player.

Gyan/Wellbeck have pace and good skill and recently we've been torched by such players (Torres/Tevez). Wouldn't mind playing Bossy at rb and shift ivan to center. Doubt lampard will start after almost 3 months of not playing, bad time for essein to miss as cattermole and henderson have been playing well for them. Id think we'l go back to the ramires-mikel-zhirkov midfield.
Andreas Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Cech Bossy Ivan JT Cole Mikel Lampard Zhirkov/Ramires Malouda Sturridge/Anelka Drogba This is the best option(s) for the game, we really need Lampard out there and if he's fit he should start as we need him back to his best as soon as possible and starting at home against Sunderland is perfect. I reckon we'll win it but it could be tricky. 3-1 or 3-0 I'd say.
Guest Sindre Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Ah! For Christs sake! Two-three more weeks without Lampard according to Ancelotti.
Guest Sindre Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) Alex out aswell. Cech, Bosingwa/Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Zhirkov, Anelka, Drogba/Kalou, Malouda Drogba, and Bosingwa may be out aswell so our bench could look really thin sunday. Tea Bar Boy Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Blimey not looking that good in the middle of the park ...............
bjd Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Im not liking the sound of Alex's injury. Carlo said he has a consultation on Mon, could well be some time. Need to wrap JT and Brana in cotton wool!
Tea Bar Boy Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 times like this I do wish we had an xmas footie break !!!
Scooby Blue Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Injuries, injuries and more bloody injuries. Oh well this is the reason we have a squad. Surely a good opportunity for the youngsters to shine. In particular McEachran, Kakuta and Sturridge.
Tea Bar Boy Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Maybe Wilkins had a point and we let too many players go in the summer
PloKoon13 Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 Ramires starting may not be a bad thing. Sunderland's midfield aren't the paciest in the world...
Tea Bar Boy Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Ramires starting may not be a bad thing. Sunderland's midfield aren't the paciest in the world... but one of the most physical which is where he was found wanting last Sunday ........
Anders Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) I'd like to see Malouda drop down in midfield, and move Zhirkov take the wing, as it would give us more strength in midfield. Edited November 12, 2010 by A.T.E
forbzy Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I'd give some serious consideration to starting McEachran in this one. We've got to go 3 league games without Essien and Lampard, and there is always the risk of further injuries and suspensions. This is the only 1 of the league games at home so would seem to be the best option if we are to start him. If he acquits himself well then he may even get the chance for a few more starts. Either way there is a good chance he will get a few minutes in this game.
ABDERRAHMANE Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 You know Lampad _ Essien _ Alex will miss the next game Anelk return to action and drogba is not ready 100 % but ANcetotti should to play him there is no widen option in Ancelotti's hand I think ANcelotti have to give more chances to Ramires maybe Malouda would be play as mildfielder as his national team position I think the options line up for the next game will be ; ........................Cech........................... bos.........Iva.................Terry........Cole .....................Mikel............................ ....(Malouda/josh/Ramires)......Zhirkove ...Anelka....Drogba......(Malouda/Kalou)
BrewCrew Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Personally, I feel this should be Sturridge's game, not Kalou's. Give Sturridge an oppurtunity to show that he can be in the starting lineup. If he doesn't produce then you can go back to Kalou. Sturridge needs a chance, not 7 minutes at the end of a game where all we do is defend. It isn't fair to him.
Mikstaw Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Obi, Ramires, Zhirkov, Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Malouda, Turnbull, Van Aanholt, McEachran, Borini, Bruma, Ferriera, Sturridge, Kakuta.

You are right but i don't think Ancelotti take risk you know that kalou is better than Sturridge and i guess sturridge would play against OM champions league full game
Chippy Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I would rather see Kalou in the team as well, apart from him being one of our better performers against Fulham I think he tracks back better and with the weaness and or uncertainty in our midfield with Essien and Lampard unavailable I would stick to the more tried and trusted option at this time. Funny I have not been overly impressed by Sturridge so far except to say he seems very confident in himself (which can only be a good thing) but I was hoping he would get the second half against Liverpool when we had gone two down..I thought it a bit much to ask of Drogba in his condition (although to his credit he made a difference) and thought someone like Sturridge who always looks like he wants the ball could have given them something to think about, as it turned out the whole team were better second half and could have got something from a game at half time I felt there was no way back into but that day and the seemingly lost cause I thought it was looked to me a perfect chance to give him a full half...not a lot of pressure for the lad or anything.
abramovich Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Obi, Ramires, Zhirkov, Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Malouda, Turnbull, Van Aanholt, McEachran, Borini, Bruma, Ferriera, Sturridge, Kakuta. Good idea, but I don't think they'll allow us to field 20 players, it doesn't seem fair to Sunderland.
54veteran Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Step up Mr. McEachran. Let's not forget our now ex-assistant manager was captain of the side at 18.
