Ramires

Featured Replies

I've noticed just how well Ramires has been playing, would we all agree he has settled into english football now?

very quick considerin some of our other players took so long (malouda, drogba, essien,)..

would he be in everyones first choice midfield now oustin mikel or essien?

Definitely he was the stand out player in the last 2-3 matches that he played...amazing improvement shown by the chap after some forgettable matches initially...and our successful Luiz deal takes the cherry of his performances for the club :).

Im not sold yet, Im always carfull not to jusdge a player performance in comparison to him self. It's easy to be impressed by improvement but has that improvement actually taken him to the level required

Looks a good player to me, I wouldn't say hes anything like Essien was at his best but at this time hes nearer to that player than Essien himself. I'd start him for his effort alone as I think he rallies the rest of the team with his non stop running.

There needs to be improvement end product wise with his shooting or his final ball but he is looking like a tenacious player which with the lethargy that can creep into our midfield can only be a good thing.

A different player to when he first arrived and for a player thrown in more often than intended through our injury situation I don't think you could ask for much more.

For me the jury is still out on Ramires. No doubt he's gradually adapting to the Premiership game.

He appears to be a more confident player than he was a few months ago. He is tenacious and hungry for success.

Only time will tell!

Time will tell but the last couple games have been telling for him. As his confidence grows, the better he gets. Personally, I think he is a better player going forward than Essien is. He is much quicker and has better ball skills. Essien has a better long range shot but that comes with experience. I don't think Ramires is suited for the holding role at all. He isn't big enough and it wastes his pace. Mikel is better there and Josh can also play there, starting out attacks. There is great potential there for Ramires though.

Hes looked our best midfielder in the last few times hes played and in this company thats not a bad pointer to his ability, he has been stand out best player for us on a couple of occasions and I don't think that accolade could have been given to any of our Mids over the last three or four months.

Scotty Parker to be honest would have been handy over the last few months, Robbie Savage? maybe he could have that effect two divisions down.

Parker would have been a hit for us if he hadn't got injured. By the time he was fit - Tiago was bought and the rest is History.

Ramires has looked good, hope he's not out for too long.

Substitute "could" for "would" and you've got a great point there. Nearly everyone who claims that Scott Parker was never given a chance forgets that he was was out injured. Before his injury he looked to be playing towards a possible regular place in the starting lineup. By the time he returned from injury he'd dropped further down the pecking order, making things much more difficult for him, and as you say, the rest is history.

Im still standing by my stance he will come good as he has shown the ability and the appetite, he just needed adjusting....and I dont think that has finished yet.

IMO, hes goinna be a box to box guy who gets his foot in there without picking up a lot of cards ( I think he will be like Makelele in that aspect...and his size!) mae some decent runs/passes going forwards, but I wouldnt expect many goals from him.... tho already he has given us a goal(should be2!haha) and a penalty (should be 2 again... but out of his control)

I think he will be a vital part of our midfield very soon, but I dont think he is going to be one of those players who capture the imagination....a guy who does a very important job very well, but not a "glamour" player ....again, kind of like Makelele

Totally agree with the last paragraph, I dont think he will ever be one of those fantasy players who score goal after goal and win game after game for us but he will be a great player for us in my opinion and one we will be able to rely on for quite some time to give us 100% every game.

Good to see Ramires getting some positive press on here. I'd like to hear some apologies from some of the individuals who were so damning of him after the City match.

I can respect any player that works hard, even if they're not good enough, or in bad form.

In that sense, Ramires has always earnt my respect because he is a tireless workter....it's certainly an added benefit that he is showing he's actually quite good.

Just re-read the old Ramires thread, and glad it was only 4 pages. Spiller, I'm sorry for putting myself amongst a wave of bashers in the moment who wanted to push people's buttons. Media, rivals and haters were all saying similar things. They're idiots, and I'm not here to wind anyone up.

In hindsight, who would have imagined that all three of our regular mids would underperform in the same season? With Benayoun out and Josh not earning the manger's confidence, Ramires' presence has been massive for us. But the jury is still out regarding his future as a regular. He is being paid as such, so let's see him control his side against ManUre. Then I'll consider apologies for the harsh opinion of him.

There's a few things I object to there... I don't think you can say that Benayoun hasn't earned the manager's confidence... unless you think Carlo injured him so that he wouldn't play again? Josh has surely earned the manager's confidence, it's just that he's blooding him in slowly, which no doubt frustrates us fans, but is the right way to go about it. When Walcott was rushed into the England side, look how it affected him. Also, Ramires is reportedly only earning 25-30k a week... there are Championship players earning close to that.

I don't think you can say that Benayoun hasn't earned the manager's confidence...

Eggy, I didn't mean that at all - when I said Yossi was "out", I meant "injured".

The manager's confidence bit was referring only to Josh, and the point was simply that we needed Ramires to patch our midfield, pretty much all season. He is a determined hard-working player and I hope his upward trend continues, especially against Scum.

Ah, fair enough, I was probably just looking for things to disagree with to be honest. :P

Should start instead of Ess at the moment... Has improved in the last couple of games. When Mikel,Ess and Lamps are in decent form it will still be very hard for him to start games week in week out. But only time will tell

Ramires is a player every team would like to have in its line up . He is hard working and as someone said any hard working player is going to be a huge asset for the team.

Wish he learns from Essien quickly to become a vital member of our team for years to come ..
