Cambiasso noise has been ongoing for weeks and no idea why we would look at him. Not too fussed, Hato would be our first choice next year. Don't understand the Josh comparison, Hato has nearly 10x more first team minutes under his belt than Josh.
10 hours ago10 hr As some have guessed before, it seems the PL proven defender we are after is Lacroix, as per Ornstein. Palace want to secure a replacement first, though.

I think with Kamada also leaving Palace don't want to rebuild their entire midfield,so they'll desperately hold on to Wharton. I rate Wharton but that price is mad. There are other options, and Disasi is apparently being used for Lacroix. The 'comparison' falls under the same youth umbrella. It's a risk. Hato is 20 with a hardly any experience in a top league or in Europe's top flight. His only real stand out performances also only came at LCB. You're banking Hato being an immediate success on speculation, whereas I am saying its too soon to tell.Curious, did you want Acheampong to start last summer or were you in the 'bring a new CB' camp? 6 hours ago6 hr I keep reading that the club is targeting ‘at least 2 starting level players’ like we should all be excited by this news.Sorry but we needed more than that before selling 2 first teamers this summer.(I’m expecting Enzo to go).Come on Alonso get in there and sort em out. Our standards are in the gutter and our SD’s refuse to accept a lot of the players they bought aren’t worth what they payed and don’t want to sell for a book value loss because it just highlights how poor the recruitment has been but at some stage your gonna have to take your medicine if you want to overhaul the squad.
6 hours ago6 hr I guess they are trying to stay on-side with FFP, we just have to wait and see how it plays out. Alonso coming here makes me think he can see something in us worth improving.Rome was not built in a day and it won't be fixed on one season this is not the squad strength Conte inherited.

Josh has played just over 1k. Its miles apart I was happy to not buy another CB last summer, nothing to do with Josh though. Id have started Colwill, Fofana, Tosin and Chalobah ahead of him 12 months ago. When Colwill got injured I didn't mind if we signed someone or not because there's rarely value in a snap decision.

I'm not debating the minutes, i'm debating whether it's smart to entrust young players that have a lack of exposure plus the experience in Europe's top competitions. In a team that is already so young & naive. It wasn't a snap decision. We always wanted another CB. We almost got Huijsen before he left for Real, were earmarked to bring Guehi back, and tested the waters with Murillo. We did nothing. Trusted our options, I was against it. Debated many that Chalobah+Acheampong isn't good enough, and we had the worst defensive season ever.

I don't feel we need to go all out in this position right now. 2. We were in Europe. We've seen enough of him now to realise he can step up, he performed better than Acheampong did last season. Between now and the January window, we can see how Hato does, we can balance that with Colwill who can step across, and Barco who can also fill in there. If it needs addressing, we can address in January or next Summer. I say this because I want to prioritise a top midfielder and a centre back.Hujisen went to Madrid, Guehi went to Citeh, neither were coming to us. So the question becomes would I have spent £70m on Murillo last Summer because Colwill got injured? No. I would have rolled the dice with the team we had. It turns out that for whatever reason Chalobah and Tosin both went backwards, Fofana became incredibly sh*t and Acheampong either wasn't given the opportunity to, or couldn't step up. Sometimes things go wrong, sometimes they go right. Edited 5 hours ago5 hr by bisright1

Some of them players are good players but inexperience will still make mistakes. If we have a team full of Terrys and Lampard's then throwing in a youngster would be a lot easier and actually benefit them more. Throwing more young players in this team is a recipe for disaster, a problem created by the recruitment. Im a fan of Hato but we are weaker having sold Cucu, a weaker team than the one that finished 10th!

Im not overly fussed about a left back tbh!

Early days in the window so too early to judge.

Is it just the age… 22 vs 26 or what?
