February 12, 201214 yr YOU ARE RIGHT BOBBY TAMBLING IS A TRUE LEGEND. ITS JUST THAT HE IS NOT MENTIONED ENOUGH WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT CHELSEA GREATS. TOO MY MIND HE IS ABOVE DIXON AND DROGBA AS THE TOP STRIKER. IF HE DID NOT HAVE INJURIES HE WOULD BE NEARER 250 GOALS RATHER THAN 202. (ALTHOUGH DIXON COULD SAY THE SAME)
February 12, 201214 yr AGAIN THANKS FOR THE GAME(S). DO YOU HAVE ANY HIGHLIGHTS FROM 69-70 SUNDERLAND WHEN OSSIE SCORED A HAT-TRICK AND 70-71 BRUGES AT HOME AHEN OSSIE RETURNED. February 12, 201214 yr Sunderland v Chelsea. We lost 2-0. The other teams in the semi were Norwich and Ipswich. The bookies had us as evens favourites. However, after losing the first leg away 2-0 we went out to 9-2. I thought these were great odds as I was sure we could overcome a 2 goal deficit within the 90 minutes and then finish them off in extra-time if necessary. I was sure then that we would have been favourites in the final and I could have hedged it by backing the opponents so I did my biggest ever single bet. I put £200 on us to win the league cup. Gutted. Totally gutted. To this day. I am sure the home leg was sent, or at least the trouble. I remember also the home leg for the actions of one of the usual crowd I used to travel on the specials with in 80-83, quite a timid fella by the name of Lance. Never got into any trouble or had a bad word to say to anybody. Anyway, when Walker was attacked that night on the field I just could not believe it when I saw Lance was his assailant as he (Lance) was dragged off by about 7 old bill. Lance got four years for that. I don't think any of us ever saw him again. Anyway, here is that link again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOqsqvrlVJQ&feature=player_embedded
February 12, 201214 yr And Chelsea v Sunderland News report The reason the game was not broadcast, Ken Bates wanted £20,000 for two minute highlights. A video company taped it for Sunderland and then sold the violence to Thames TV. Ken Bates then took out a High Court injunction to stop this from being shown. (He lost, they showed it and Ken had to pay court costs), Edited February 12, 201214 yr by GarryJones
February 12, 201214 yr 1971-72 LCF http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKgk_de3_xg&feature=youtu.be Very unhappy memories of that game. I was only 10 and remember thinking George Eastham looked about 50. 40 years later, and I'm now 50, and he still looks about 20 years older than me.

February 13, 201214 yr > If anyone could find a picture from the 2-0 win against Wexham in October of 1981 I would be forever indebted to you. You mean the 2-0 at the Bridge? I have some pictures! - But no video. Chelsea have their own copy of the video as I described a couple of pages ago. I'll upload pictures tomororow if that's all you want. Yes that's the one Garry did you ever post the pictures?
February 13, 201214 yr Sorry mate, in my notes I had "photos from wrexham", it was the away games I had. The game you meant was Date: Saturday, 10th October 1981 Competition: Football League Division 2 Position 5 Venue: Stamford Bridge Attendance: 14,170 Referee: Mike J Taylor (Walmer) Chelsea 1 Petar Borota, 2 Gary Locke, 3 Chris Hutchings, 4 Colin Viljoen, 5 Colin Pates, 6 Gary Chivers, 7 Peter Rhoades-Brown, 8 Ian Britton, 9 Colin Lee, 10 Alan Mayes, 11 Mike Fillery Scorers Fillery 1st, Lee 2nd Manager John Neal Wrexham Niedzwiecki, J Jones, Bater, Dowman, Cegielski, Hunt, Fox (Ronson), McNeil, Carrodus, Vinter, Edwards Manager Mel Sutton Then we played them in the 4th Round FA Cup at home on 23rd February 0-0 4th Round replay FA Cup away on 26th January 1-1 (Alan Mayes saved us in the last minute) 4th Round second replay FA Cup away on 1 Feb W 2-1 (The prize being a home match against Liverpool in the 5th). And away in the league on 27 Feb L 0-1 This mean 5 trips to Wrexham for me that season as we were banned. I went up to get tickets for both cup games posing as president of the Bristol Branch of the Wrexham supporters' club. Prior to the league away on 27th Feb the ban was lifted. So I didn't have to go for tickets for that.
