October 15, 2025Oct 15 The Mears ownership 1970 Stamford Bridge redevelopment plan. The East Stand was the first and only part to be developed before the club almost went bankrupt.Would have been a terrific stadium with a 60,000 capacity. If you look under the seats if you are in the East Stand, there are empty holes. Apparently this was supposed to be where warm air was to be pumped out of to keep fans warm !
