Vintage Blues pictures and film

This is a great thread. I was a tad young as I started going with my dad in the 82/83 season when I was 7, so some of this is before my time and I was certainly a bit young to be in the thick of it. I especially like those pics from Villa as I remember that very well.

I was recalling this game at Walsall in 89 when we thumped them 7-0.

If I recall correctly, we sold out our small allocation and were told no entry on the day. But when faced with an extra few thousand Chelsea with nothing else to do but wander down Walsall high street they let everyone in. I’m sure we made up most of the 7000 at the game. I don't really think that the footage does the size of following there that day justice.

Thats my clip on youtube, quite a few Rangers there that day as well.

Heres a video of Stamford Bridge in the 1960s. This is from a Christmas television program in Yugoslavia where following a game between West Ham and Chelsea, Bobby Moore sends a Merry Xmas to the people of Yugoslavia and to his friend (And all time best Yugoslav/Serb player) Dragan Dzajic. Amazing find!

Anyone go the night game up there league cup I presume. Was at the back of their end with one of the blokes who got sent down recently (his nickname was an inner London suburb on the way to Wembley) and his chaps......the whole end parted and we scattered them everywhere. I suppose like everyone else they'll chant "Where were you..." when we draw them in the cup this season !

Yesterday's "Shot of the Day" from the official site features a young Ossie playing against Leeds (presumably) during the mid '60s. Looks like the 65-67 kit:

Thats a great picture, i check the shot of the day most days & they have some quality pics in the past, the only thing is though they do tend to re-show the same pics from time to time, you'd think the club would have 1000's of pictures they could choose from.

Hollywood actress Lana Turner declares the start of a night of Midget Car Racing at The Bridge not long after the war.

Just look at the size of the crowd that day. A few so called 'big clubs' aint had that sort of attendance ever.

I'm not sure but I think it could be an automated selection process from what as you so rightly say, should be a massive database.

I was thinking about creating a dedicated thread for the Shot Of The Day, but decided against it. Anyway, here's another nice vintage shot, this one of Ossie and Webbie in Athens after the Cup Winners Cup Final:

Great clips bovis, that 1st clip reminds me of when i first started going in 79, looking at our support in the shed back then, kids, oaps & women makes me wonder why the ICF always wanted to try & take it lol!

Another good clip here, Cine footage of Chelsea v Arsenal 1973/74

Big Arsenal support in the North Stand. Nice to see Ossie's goal from a different angle.
