Am guessing that this photo was taken in the mid to late nineties.

I think this was taken at Kerry Dixon's testimonial in 1994 or 1995. We played a Spurs XI and it was 5-1 to the Chelsea XI. Oh, and I believe that is Canoville at the back in the middle.

Think one is Colin Pates, the photo bugs me though nearly all could have played together though I'm not sure this picture was taken in their playing days more perhaps a reunion.

Yes that Pates. The 'continental' hairstyle threw me!

Was this the testimonial the club did their best not to promote?

Chelsea beat Manchester City 1 - 0 in the European Cup Winners Cup Semi Final first leg at The Bridge in April 1971

Just the goal.

And a cast iron penalty that wasn't given.

I thought there would have been far more footage of both our 1971 Semi Final games v Man City.

Sheff Wed v Chelsea away in the 5th round of the FA Cup.

 We win 2-1.

British Movietone and great commentary !

"The owls are out of the Cup, but they say owls are better at night". Whoever thought that one up must have been a comedic genius. The commentary sounded like Kenneth Wolstenholme.

The only good owl is a light owl, as in light and lager.

Back in the day every seventeen year old went through a phase of drinking light and lager all the froth would stick to your bumfluff. Can you still get light ale in pubs ? '' What would you like to eat sir?'', '' I'll have the Celeriac Risotto with toasted buckwheat on a bed of glazed aubergine and chanterelle mushrooms, '' And to drink ?'' '' Two bottles of light ale please squire''.
