What do you see happenin.. red hot start, xmas blip, end of season on form again?

i actually would hope we started slow and got better and better like utd do..

i think Chelsea build ours and romans expectations too much by the start we make..

where as if we started fairly decent but not amazing and got stronger and stronger there wouldnt really be a let down feeling even if we miss out on the league and champions league..

think our great cup form in FA cup needs too come back though.. felt weird not bein in either that or Carling last year

Setting your expectations too high.. will be bitterly dissapointed come next may.

What rubbish. We had a blip, not because we set our expectations too high or played too well in the beginning of the season. We hit that blip because we had s*itloads of injuries. If our players would have had the fortune to stay fit we would probably have won the title.

And it wouldn't have mattered if we had started slow, we would have lost those points anyway.

Your right, we have zero chance and should just give up right now. I mean, what have we won lately that would mean we should be optimistic in any way.

I'll take a consistent 100% effort from everyone involved, including the fans. If that gives us trophey's at the end of the season, happy days.

this is the problem even mention missin out on the league and everyone cant believe it..

you think i dont want Chelsea too win the league, you think i wouldnt be gutted if they don't?

did i for one split milli-second say they have zero chance of winning...

united start slow every year.. and have won 19 titles..

we ive noticed start well..slip up.. and come back strong at the last part,,

which we have done for years even when we had scolari we started well went sh*t then came back with hiddink.. mourinhos second season

both ancelotti's seasons..

I was merely stating would you prefer we carried on the trend we do

or maybe not got flat out from the start and play our way into the season?

f**kin hostile on here nowadays.

Works both ways pally, what did you expect people to say after you claimed we will be bitterly disappointed. Theres nothing wrong with being optimistic. And how on earth was what I said hostile in any way?

bit early to be getting pessimistic that's for sure...i usually wait till the season starts at least!

:laugh2: You liar....

It's way too early yet but I don't think there is any reason for optimism until we have a manager in charge AND at least a couple of signings (especially when you are a life-long Chelsea related pessimist like me).

We can all speculate for now but it's a pretty futile exercise.

Hahaha im not actually pesimistic if anythin im optimistic..

yes everyone on this site will be bitterly dissapointed if they expect RED HOT form from start to finish right or wrong DKW? :laugh2:

I believe we will win the league again this year..

i would just prefer we wasnt sh*t around xmas new year where theres alot of points too be picked up/dropped..

and id prefer we didnt dip at the end..

so been as every team has a blip id prefer it too be the first 2 month of the season..

i'd like us too get the horrible games out the way goodison park, liverpool at home, stoke away, city away

then it doesnt end up costing us towards "the business end", another thing is i dont think the press slate bad early results as much as they do the further the season goes on, easing pressure on players and manager...

theres some method behind my madness im sure

Of course i want us to win every competition we ever play in, however i would also accept a transistional season next year if it means that we blend some new players into our team who will likly be our core/important players for the next few years.

Phase out the old (literally) and in with the new.

What i do not want to see is the same players being picked week in and week out, not because their perfomance merits selection, but only because of who they are. Players like Essien, Lamps, Nico and Malouda all appear (at times) to be to over complacent - i would prefer us to win nothing but have some hungry younger players integrated into the first team then persist with the old guard.

I believe we will win the league again this year..

But right at this moment, what do you base that on? Without having appointed a coaching team ot made any signings? Or did you use the word believe where you meant hope?

Not only that, Christmas is supposed to be a joyous occasion, and Chelsea often manage to put a bit of a downer on it :P

Now that makes a hell of a lot more sense, and is something I would fully agree with. Frankly I think the end of the 09/10 season and start of the 10/11 season did us no favours at all as many expected us to keep battering teams 5,6 or 7 nil, which was never gonna happen. Our sh*t xmas has happened for many decades now, in fact for as long as I can remember other then Jose`s first season. Were Decemberphobes... :D

on the fact our squad as it stands is better than uniteds and they won it last year.

Dont think its gonna change this year since we have the ACON, unless we buy in the summer we should be prepared for "bad moments" as Carlo would put it.

Again, I have to say that I am fairly impressed with SAF @ Man Ure and his start to the close season. Strengthening his squad (not necessarily the team yet) getting rid of dead wood (Scholes) bidding on the right type of player., we should be doing all of these things.

Why the f**k can CFC not learn something from this? Instead for us it is : No Manager, probably no backroom staff either, ageing squad, all the young (and much vaunted Academy) players leaving or seeking moves, no offers (Modric really??) for anyone decent although that I would expect to be down to the New Manager, (not RA ffs !!) A normal close season at the Bridge.

And again I'm going to say it's far too early to start complaining.

- No manager: if we're to appoint Hiddink, then it has to be done correctly.

- Ageing squad: Two or three signings, the return of Sturrdige and possibly Kakuta Bertrand and/or Van Aanholt would bring the average age crashing down.

- All the young lads? We've sold three fringe players go to Hamburg and Bruma and loan Borini was another matter. I feel he could have stayed but was impatient, not at all helped by his agent (a gobsh*te of the first order) Which still leaves a whole host of promising youngsters. From Bertrand to McEachran to Chalobah to name but three.

- No offers (Modric really??) Not sure what you mean by this. The Modric bid seems pretty genuine to me. If you don't rate the player, well that's a matter of opinion, one with which I'd disagree. As for it being down to the new manager, bear in mind that Hiddink has been acting in some kind of advisory capacity for some time now, so could well have suggested that Modric should be our number one target. Of course this is conjecture, but it does seem more realistic than the media propagated myth that Roman Abramovich himself is solely responsible for all our transfer dealings.

Hutch,

I certainly do rate Modric and would love to see him at Chelsea, but, 'arry said last week that £20m offers would be an insult and that he was being quoted more than that for players who could not lace Modric's bots, therefore CFC are either not listening or in fact, no offer was actually made.

Respect your other points, but am just a little underwhelmed by everything Chelsea since the season ended.
